She looks intelligent and curious. She was lifting her hoofs before you even asked and looked very relaxed with her back leg crooked. She has that spark in her eyes when she looks around. You got a very great horse.
I'm so happy that you found it within your heart to give BELLE'S memories of her former life the respect they deserve & letting her keep her name!! She is VERY DEFINITELY 'BELLE'!!! THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FROM BELLE & ME!!!💜
No. I just connect very well with animals. Horses especially. Some horses more strongly, as is the case with BELLE. She speaks so clearly about herself, it's impossible for me to not hear her. She has a new loving home now & she is a bit unsure of why she has a new home. It will take a little while to earn her trust.
A lot of people that buy horses hop on and ride away the first chance they get. I love how you take your time with horses and do groundwork them (not just ride them). You care about bonding with them and try your hardest to know each of your horses on a personal level. Today's video was a perfect example of that! Belle is such a pretty horse and so gentle. You are doing a phenomenal job with her already.
Agree! Shea has a great approach to working in new horses. Belle seems to be very curious about things. You can tell she's nervous a little, but her calm nature will help to win out when someone goes slow and confidently with her. I think she's going to be a very intelligent horse that learns quickly once she settles in. Taking the time to earn that trust up front is going to pay dividends in the end.
Mares, especially, need time to bond with their person. They aren't like geldings at all. Mares are sensitive, but fierce, and can be your best friend.
I just love Belle. I look forward to more videos with her. The dapple grey, my heart be still. I am so happy you found each other, she will be amazing.
Hi Belle looks so more chilled than the first time. She seemed very intelligent and willing. As she was loose round the arena showing herself off blowing and snorting she just reminds me of my Duchess she does exactly the same. The more I see Belle the more I think how beautiful she is you are so lucky to own her don't get me wrong i love all you horses and i to love the coloured. My Duchess was marked beautifully when i first got her but 8years down the line you can only see her colour when she has a bath or when she sheds her coat but i do still love her so much. Take care and I carn't wait to see more of her progress. Xx❤❤
Belle is such a pretty girl. Her mane looks really good and well cared for. I like that they took the time to braid it before the auction, because it showed off her beautiful neck and made her more appealing, hence the higher price. I think you're going to have fun with her. She has so much potential. If I owned her I'd be tempted to breed her to a Thoroughbred because she would likely foal a very nice sport horse prospect.
I taught all of my horses (a fair few over the years, some rescues) to pick up their feet on number command , i.e. one, two, three, four. They'd usually have the next one up as soon as the previous was put down.
Unlike my pony who kicks me when I try- I’m in the process of training so don’t worry and I’ve got a vet out 3 lol and they all said it’s just past trauma probably so I’m working on trust!
I love how gentle you are with her , this is going to help so much in building trust and bonding with her , I can't wait to see how she will blossom in your care
She's so beautiful. She reminds me of 🌹 who was terrified of almost everything. I talk to 🌹 like she is a person and that helps a lot. Mares are special ❤❤❤❤❤
She's a beautiful mare with a good conformation. She may be a cross with Andalusian but her convex head profile looks more like a Lusitano. Regardless, she looks like a keeper. I wish you the very best with Belle.
@@freespiritequestrian If you ever decided to bred her, I'd try for a very nice PRE stallion and get a wonderful dressage foal....She's got that flowy movement. 😉
@@freespiritequestrian Oh I totally get it...I've ridden a few warmbloods and they can be a little "firey" but I've also ridden some Andelusians which were puppy dogs. She reminds me "Nasa" the Andalusian PRE horse that was in the Disney "live action " remake of Cinderella. You can look up articles about him on line. Totally get it though and a Shire is a lovely lovely horse that is fully capable of dressage too. Even a Freisian would be a nice cover for her. Anyways enjoy her for what she is and I can't wait to see her progress. She's a really lovely lovely girl. I'll just dream of what you might do since I can't have a horse right now....as you certainly have time with her...she's still a young girl.
I've had my Tennessee Walker gelding (in my pic) for over 9 yrs. now, he's 22 yrs. old. As far as I could tell from his papers, I am his 7th or 8th owner! Who knows how many that didn't sign the paper transfer of ownership. It took me a LONG time to gain his trust but I went slow and now he's an amazing partner and I hope we have many more yrs. together. He still has his "moments" but always turns to look at me for assurance. Belle sure is a lucky mare! So excited to watch your journey!
She is so pretty, she could be low on magnesium, It's amazing how much it can calm them down, it's water soluable so that makes it even safer to give, you will see a difference in one or two days. I love your program and you sure fill a much needed void
Belle's going to do great with you. Once she settles in she will be just fine. She is already doing great. I have full confidence in you that you will get her where she needs to be. You know what you are doing and have a good plan. Can't wait to see her running around with the other horses. Hope everything with the farm is going better.
I can't believe how calm and patient she was, such a good girl! The way she just stood without moving, and she was so so good with picking up here feet! She has an amazing temperament so far, and clearly she's been worked on a lot she new exactly what to do, picking up her hooves before you even asked. Such a good girl I love her so much
I think Bell was saying mom were are you going come back I miss all this attention that you are giving me please come back to me I love you so much can I give you a great big hugs now you are back with me mom lol
Hi Shae! your so awesome with all your ponies, I love that you let them have there own opinion and don’t just make them do what you want all the time! I mailed some homeade horse treats for you! I listed all of the ingredients I used on the letter! I included one for each horse! Please lmk when they get there! I hope the ponies love them!
Love Belle, she is fabulous. Can't wait to see her bloom into the beautiful flower she is meant to be.... Thanks for being so patient with her. Belle will never forget your kindness!
I don't usually comment on the RU-vids I watch but someone had commented on your lipstick. I agreed with you that you can wear what you like especially if it makes you feel good. Red makes you feel good so go for it. But I noticed that in this video you have on a different color and I must say you look great!
She is excited she knows she is in good hands to fulfill such untouched talent and potential and just wants it out for all to see. All we have is time for her and you to become one!
Im glad u found her ..She deserves to have a wonderful life now . She dont have to be bread anymore now she can enjoy the grooming and interaction with u and others ... She has a good home now... She will learn fast who loves her... good luck Shae and Ms Belle 😊
💞 Belle is an audiophile. She loves surround sound, and moves her ears continuously on the rise and fall of your voice octaves. What an awesome experience in bonding the communication between the two of you. Awesome vid, as usual; thanks so much, Shae!
@@freespiritequestrian What a bff, it's a girl, it's a boy, it's Shae's bff, beautiful Belle of the Ball. If she could only talk now. Think she's missing her foal, taken from her suddenly, that has to sting. Those black Andalusian legs mean no melanoma, never knew that before, and under the tail of a grey dappling you check for that, tool Thorough inspection saves a lot of heartache down the road. Enjoying (?) this Cali. rain again tonight, lol!
Beautiful Belle! Thanks for the great video, Shae. It’s so inspiring to watch you build trust with your heard and I can’t wait to see Belle connect with her new buddies. ❤😊
Oh my goodness.. Now that I got a good look at her, she is even more gorgeous and so sweet! I can see the small hints of her personality within her eyes. She is gonna be a silly one like Mushu but calmer, I think. She'll love the herd because she is already loving you! She'll be the new energy of the farm, Ms. Shae!

BELLE'S halter is a little bit big. Maybe a couple more holes punched in it so that it can be fitted more comfortably for her head. Less sensation of 'flopping around' when she shakes her head. Just an observation. I'm sure you've noticed.💜
I thought that you had actually said that, I just missed it.🤔Must have been at the same time I thought it, you were probably saying it! We had the same thought at the same time! Go figure, right?!☺
Shae, who wouldn't love Belle? I think you'll find her to be extra smart and agreeable (if you haven't already). Did you notice how she anticipated you asking her to lift her last leg? That was impressive! I almost giggled seeing you next to her she is so BIG! Kyle will look great on Belle, won't he? Looks like the weather has eased up at your place. The ice, wind and rain they predicted here turned out to be milder, so we are grateful! Wahoo! 🤠🐎🐎🐎🐶❣
You are so good with the horses! Especially after the storm, you comfort her a lot which is amazing and that is definitely your personality. Towards the end she was just chilling and quite comfortable with you and just coming out of quarantine and then almost immediately trusting you which shows you are kind and gentle which is good for what you do. Her forlock when you took it out was so curly ❤️❤️
OMG she's so special. I can just feel her fearfulness and it's wonderful to see you helping her through it. Life is going to be so sweet for this beautiful girl.
Belle is a diamond in the rough. So nice to see you taking your time with her and not rushing past her comfort zones as she continues to settle in. Like you say, I can see Belle is tentative in her movements, a little bit holding herself within herself (hope that makes sense). This is clearly all a big change for her. Probably she spent her whole life at the farm she came from so everything is different for her and might even be new (like indoor arena, as you point out). She will definitely get there as she is so kind and willing. Thank you for sharing her journey with us :)
My moment of - she's gonna be okay - was when she picked up her right hind hoof for you!!! she understood the assignment and was happy to go with it! oh i cant wait to see her at her full self!!! Her true self!!!! you picked a really sweet girl here!!! Im in love with her!!!
I just love her look. I hope she settles in soon and realizes that she is in a wonderful place. She looks for you when you walk away. And she likes your smell.
She’s very smart! The way she’s so curious and wants to do things on her own time, I think it’s a great idea to take it slow with her! She’s most definitely worth it and will give you her whole heart! 🥰🙏🏻
She is so beautiful and I am so glad you named her Belle! It so fits her! She does seem to love it when you speak to her and how she nuzzle against you! I have never owned a horse, but have always loved them. I am so glad I found your site.. I love learning all about how you adopt and help horses from Auctions! Love you and all of your horses! And not forget, Kyle and your lipstick! Sandra from New York.
Can't wait to see Belle's journey. It's such a blessing you got her. I'm sure you will have success. It's been amazing to see Buzz become the snappy pony!!
She's a beauty-- through and through. Thank you for treating her with such gentle respect. Oh-- and I love the color splash on her halter-- it looks great on her!
She is a sweetheart, it is all so new to her but she is staying calm. She looked for you every time you moved away from her, so she is interested in you.
Was s she off an Amish farm. She has a right to be nervous. She does not know if this going to be OK. I could see this last week. She probably has no experience with strange females with hair that smells good. Thank heavens you 😢bought her. I bet the grooming feels luscious. It is like going for for a body massage. Has she met the other horses? Or do you wait. I think she will do great. She seems curious which is a sign of intelligence. 😮 I just adore her.
She is one of the most beautiful horses I have ever seen, and I have been riding more than fifty years. Good job, spending time to really bond with her.
She is auch an awesome horse! So well behaved. But you can very clearly see she is apprehensive. She is beyond lucky she came to you! In the wrong hands with how sensitive she is - that could have been a Desaster. It’s so sweet how she looks after you each time you go away! Her ground manners seem really amazing. As she settles in and learns to trust you more she will be amazing. I am excited to see how she does with work! If we do the first steps slower in the end the goal is much easier and faster to approach. And you have a partner as horse! Do you think maybe she could be a one person horse? I know it’s too early to say as you just started with her.
She's so gorgeous and sweet. I agree she loves your voice like she's calmed by it. Maybe she always had people talk at her instead of to her. She's going to be so special and loyal. It's heart warming to see. It's also fun to guess which horse or horses she will bond with and love.
She is a character under all that SHYNESS!! She is so curious and will come out of her shell Very soon ! I can not wait! I THINK SHE 13:55 IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL OUT OF ALL OF YOUR HORSES.. maybe it’s her personality but I think she is going to shine like a diamond VERY VERY SOON!! Ooooo SO SO SO SO EXCITED FOR HER!!!
Free Spirit Equestrian- been watching some vlogs of yours but what exactly do you do at your farm? Do you buy the horses for riding lessons, or have a handicapped children's program or are you saving them from the slaughter pipeline or are they your personal horses? Not being rude just have not hit a video of what your farm does. Thanks.
This is my mission statement: The definition of revitalize is “the action of imbuing something with new life and vitality”. In other words this means bringing forth new energy and vibrancy. This quite frankly, is exactly what we are doing for horses. Free Spirit Equestrian’s program for horses “Equine on the Rise ” is a program that we have designed specifically with the horse in mind. Shae is the owner and head trainer of Equine on the Rise. She has developed this program over the last decade, and has formulated a well rounded, all encompassing approach. Shae starts with buying horses from all different walks of life. She spends her own personal funds, and energy on these beautiful souls. Moreover, she considers all of these horses her own the moment she takes responsibility over them. They are her world and she devotes every moment to bettering their life and providing the best atmosphere possible. The first step to Equine on the Rise’s program is the wellness aspect. Each horse is given an individualized wellness plan catering to their specific needs. This plan includes vetting, proper nutrition, farrier, dental, massage, chiropractic care, and so much more. The next step is creating a bond through compassion, time, and understanding. Shae takes her time to let the horse settle in, meet the herd, and feel comfortable in their new environment. Shae creates trust with the equine through connection and patience. Once the horse has reached their wellness milestones and feels safe they then begin the next phase of the program which is training. Equine on the Rise starts with basic ground etiquette such as tying, grooming, loading, bathing, etc. Then the horse is taught or refreshed on groundwork and in hand work. Everything starts on the ground and we then work our way up to tacking, and mounting when the horse feels comfortable. Each horse has a slightly different timeline, because nothing is rushed and some horses have more training then others when they come to Shae. Once the horse is ready we then start their under saddle work. Shae believes in letting the horse develop balance, muscle, and harmony through targeted exercises and natural strength building. Incorporating multiple postures and allowing the horse to develop without force is a must in Shae’s book. We use no gimmicks or gadgets in our program. Just treats and a lot of praise! We make sure the horse is ridden and trained in all of their gaits, and we listen to what the horse is telling us to determine what discipline the horse may like or succeed in. Shae is not just evaluating the horses, she spends months and years working with each horse every day. She is educating them with every ounce of knowledge she possesses. Moreover, our program has an emphasis on exposing horses to different environments such as shows, trail riding, camping, and more. Once the horse has more development we do what we believe is best for them, and eventually they graduate from our program to find their forever person. We aren’t looking to sell our horses to people we are looking for people who match our horse. In other words, once the horse has graduated from Equine on the Rise they are then available for purchase to approved homes. Shae is not grant or donation funded, her process that she has created is self-sufficient and when the horses are ready for their final step which is going to the perfect home, they are then available at current market prices. Equine on the Rise’s program is a 1-5 year process depending on the horse. We strive to educate horses as much as possible so they are less likely to end up in a poor situation. Transforming horses into their best, most majestic version is what we
You have an "eye" for horses who want to try; try to understand, try to learn new things, try to fit in, try to please you. She really is worried when you walk away. What a beautiful balanced and measured trot! She does key in more on you when you talk. We had some Amish men do some building for us and in conversation I asked if they talked to their horses when they were just having buddy time with them. The answer to my question was a question--Do we talk to our cars and trucks? And they don't do buddy time, they are too busy and when the horses are turned out they are too busy grazing and resting. So maybe Belle is finding it new and wonderful to listen to you.
She is such a big girl. She reminds me of my Percheron cross mare who was quite nervous too. Mine came from an earthquake town in Western Australia and I believe she was a horse who had a breakdown over her experience after a large quake. Even though she was fearful she was kind to handle. She wasn’t into human bonding to start with but in time she was politely interested but reserved always. She did her best in every way even if she wasn’t human orientated. She was a horses horse😉. And those big mares are lovely to ride so honest and powerful with just the right amount of zest to be exciting. I really envy you to have found her. I’m sure she will be a great experience and I look forward to your journey with her.
Yes Shae, Belle IS stunning. I loved when you were doing her hooves and she anticipated your next move and held up her hoof to help. Such a lovely horse❤️🤗
