Thank you so much for putting this out there, there isn't much information for beginner glider pilots which makes this incredibly valuable, same for all your other videos.
Glad to have found this video on RU-vid. FYI... I learned to fly gliders in Boulder and Armand prepared me for my check-ride. He's a dedicated glider pilot, I'm still enjoying soaring flights, and often think about his words of wisdom in various phases of my flights.
amount of training flights makes no sense to me... so a 16 year old kid will have minimum 16 flights and a 39 year old will have minimum of 39 flights and over 40 it goes even higher than their age?! how does this make any sense?! sounds like it is dependent on how much money you think you can suck out of older people compared to younger ones to me... i would think the older person would be easier to train and better at understanding the concepts. also how is a 16 year old going to have STEM training?! 16 year old's can barely drive a car and are far more prone to taking chances and accidents as well as being more emotionally unstable!
@eparock - I will have to agree with you on that sir. What you are asking and saying overall doesn't make sense. I have always loved to fly and have always wanted to get my pilots license whether it was a glider pilot's license, or a private pilot's license. I even spent time in the Army in an aviation company as a helicoptor repairman. I also tried to talk the army pilots into letting me fly along with them when they had to fly someplace. They usually never told me no, and was generally happy to have me ride along with them wherever they had to go so I was usually lucky enough to get to go with them every chance I got. But over the years I've never had the oporunity, or the money at the high prices they charge for dual instruction, or had the time , or lived close enough to a glider school or club to be able to do so ( Even now the nearest glider club and school is either about a two hour, or three hour drive from where I live. I live within a mile of an airport now but it is a simple one-horse town airport with one little hanger on it and is only generally used for the life-flight helicopter to land and take off from during a medical emergency. And now that I'm retired, and have the time. People like this glider pilot tell me I'm too old and could (or would), never make it. He basically even admits that to be the case in this video during his speach about who he looks for, and what his requirements for a student are. So I guess I'll just have to sit here and watch video's about flying, and wish I was there doing that and then wait until I can possibly get St. Peter to train me to use angel wings over on the other side of the great divide unless he also deems me unfit for flying as well. Just my luck he (St. Peter), would deem me unfit too, LOL. Anyway, I Hope you have better luck than I have had there @eparock. Best of luck to you there in your own future flying endever's sir.
