It has been quite sometime since I have busted out the hollower & how I have missed using it. I have always enjoyed making hollow forms whether that be larger openings like this piece or the more traditional small hole that makes hollow forms unique. But lately I just have not had much time to make them since they are so specialized however now that I have started RU-vid again, I hope to find more reasons to make them. I make mostly utilitarian items like salad bowls, eating bowls, spoons etc when the camera isn't rolling but the whole purpose of this channel is to be a creative outlet for me to make more unique and one of a kind items like this & other pieces I wouldn't normally get to make. This hollow form was turned from red oak and features some gorgeous spalt and figure. When turning this form, I was a little nervous how it was coming along due to some issues in the wood that were not so present when starting.
