These are the first images of John Paul II's remains being removed from the Vatican Grottoes. His body will be moved to it's new resting place in St. Peter's basilica in the chapel of St. Sebastian after the beatification ceremony. .

cyn harman , it is what is known as remorse of conscience, not to be confused with contrition. They hate in others what they have lost , faith in God and do not understand He is at the doorway waiting for them to show the slightest sign of contrition.

John 19:26-27 enough for you to prove that jesus treats Mary as his own mother ?? and no we don't worship John Paul II, it was moving his grave, uh shouldn't we at least respect those that died before us , especially those who lived a life of Christ ?

You are mistaken on what Vatican II teaches. Catholic answers will help you understand what is taught. "He who endures to the end will be saved" (Matt. 24:13; cf. 25:31-46). One who dies in the state of friendship with God (the state of grace) will go to heaven. The one who dies in a state of enmity and rebellion against God (the state of mortal sin) will go to hell.

I didn't hear that they moved him to St Peter's ! So happy.... he was the greatest Holy Father of our time. If God willing I can make it back to the Vatican I want to see his resting place. It is the best experience to go there !!!

Apparently no one has the capacity to know right from wrong at birth, otherwise good parents would not be required to correct their children so frequently. All that an infant knows at birth is how to suckle, cry, expel waste, and sleep. That's all.

Millions come to Rome - Vatican people are simply moving his remains so that pilgrims can venerate the body of a saint more easily. It's about ACCESS, that's all. If you don't understand the dynamics of Catholic practice, why even comment? It's about belief in the resurrection of the body - that on the Last Day we will be raised body and soul to new life. Since Pope John Paul II has been declared "Blessed" (stage one of being declared a saint), his body is worthy of veneration. It's traditional.

During all the televised programming before his funeral the media kept saying over and over again how he wanted not to be a embalmed and buried below in the dirt. I didn't see the dirt and he is in a coffin????? I am confused.

If they are moving him, then "he" must still be in his grave. If moving his body means they are moving "him", then he didn't go to Heaven. If "he" is still in his grave, then he is in the same place of torment as the rich man in Jesus' parable about the Lazerus who died of starvation outside the rich man's gates. Hmm. The wording of things like this are not so carefully chosen....

Look up the meaning of saint and see those are titles reserved to a spiritual Catholic life. The degree of which is not of the common amongst us in the eye of the Catholic Faith. I am sure that there is room in people with a good soul to be o.k. with this. I respect all opinions having stood by these saintly people on earth.

God has given us freedom of choice. It's up to you to believe in God and his heavenly kingdom and all you have to do is believe and ask for His forgiveness and that we choose heaven. Jesus paid the price for us because none of us deserve heaven. It is a gift from our loving God! Amen!!

(Cont) The 1st beast (Rev 13:1) is another Emperor who build his statue in the temple & commanded the early Christians to worship him. According to John, his number is 616. So there are 2 beast that is mentioned in Rev. If the beast is the Pope, why would the Pope during the time of St. Jerome who translated the Bible, allowed these text to be included in the Bible? The Church knows these things & they have studied it since the early church years. So who are you to say the beast is the Pope?

Your comment is but a perverse look on a sign of veneration and respect. It usually common to kiss something which is considered important to show some sign of respect. The veneration of relics during Mass in which people kiss the reliquary containing the relic is an example, or when people kiss the ring of a bishop/cardinal/pope. It is a sign of veneration and in the case of those in episcopate a sign of respect for their authority.

For all you people that think you are some how doing God's will by slandering, smearing, & spreading falsehoods, you'll have to answer for it. Catholics do NOT worship Mary, popes, or the saints. When you claim this you are saying we believe they are divine, & this is flat FALSE! Yes we love, respect, and honor them for how they lived their lives. They are more alive now that they are in heaven. Please learn the difference between intercessor and mediator. And stop acting like a child of satan!

Dear Madam, I remember very well the summer when he was elected. Three popes in one year, it was strange, and my sister, which really liked Johannes Paul I, still says she thinks it was something strange which made him leave the earth. My best friend is catholic, and she adored Johannes Paul II. She used to call him 'the old Pope, our right one'. She learned to love benedict, too, and now she likes Franziskus, but she was Born in 1970, and Johannes Paul II was the Pope she remembered from her childhood. It must be relly lovely for a believer, to see again anything related to the Pope, which had left earth many years ago. I am happy to meet you, and to see how much you enjoyed :) He was blessed to have such a lovely Lady like you in his church :) I hope, you will have a very Long, healthy, and happy life. But when one day you will leave earth, I know, when you met all your beloved ones, which have waited for you impatiently, the dear 'old Pope' will come and tell you, he is happy to meet you at last :) And I hope he likes his new resting place. The old one was more quiet, I think, but perhaps you will get the chance and see where he is now somehow :) I send many good wishes to you, many greetings, and please, be blessed, dear nice Ms. Wilson. please would you know where you can buy 1st class relics of saint pope john paul 2nd?? I am looking and looking but everywhere that sells it, sells it for well over than what I can afford. :-( I live in Ireland and I have absolutely no chance at owning such a gift. please if you can help, I would appreciate it so much. I am very ill healthwise and I feel I would benefit grately fro mowning such a 1st class relic....especially from this marvelous saint. I have loved him for many many years and I know he did so much good in his life. He did suffer a lot, having lost all his family members quite early on in his life and people who he knew and cared for.

Be open-minded my dear.Keep in mind, that Jesus did not choose the all-knowing and perfect people to follow Him. Let me put this to everyone, no-one should be disrespecting other leaders of the church, no matter what your denomination. For example, I may not like the Baptist or other denominations, but I still respect them because they are a different form of God's Church. They are not worshiping him, they are paying him their respects before the beatification.

The body's within three coffins, cypress, lead, pine, and the lead one's been sealed shut. As for "millions" preserving the body, a good embalmer is quite reasonable, even in the case of Evita Peron. As for whether the Pope is special or not, it's the same reason we don't exactly put Princess Diana on display, and she was loved even more than John Paul.

St John Paul 2 was a pure man of God. Didn't realize they moved his body for beatification. Not to be funny but would loved to see him and Billy Graham go on tour together. Both men were very Holy and humble.
