Hey guys, WoW recently added 4 new super interesting hero talent trees and I'll be doing a short little 4 part video series of me reacting to all 4 and my first impressions on them - This is the second of the 4, where we go over the new Frost & Fire Mage Hero Talent set called Frostfire. By far the best tree they have shown so far. It has a lot of flavour, depth while not making each spec overly complex as a result. 10/10, I wish Oracle in particular would work similarly (it does slightly with the power word shield/prayer of mending interaction).

Love the flavour and fantasy behind the spec too. Definitely one of the better hero specs so far.

By far? No I don't think that's true at all. San'layn, Mountain Thane, & imho Dark Ranger have also been really good. I also like the look of Keeper of the Grove, but I like the Treants & ik not all druids feel the same.

I’m slightly concerned by the comet storm/meteor talent for frost mages just because that is 1000% gonna rip threat on pull every single time. Frost mages play a talent that resets comet storm when you use it so you generally will double comet storm on pull. 2x comet storms and 2x meteors is gonna go crazy for aoe burst but might troll you in m+ occasionally. Still the tree sounds sick

Yeah, you always have to mirror before cs-coc-Cs, especially if you also use a trinket in that window xd

Devastation Evokers have been dealing with threat issues for their entire existence and unlike Mages, they don't get mirror images or invis or ice block. You don't have problems, *I* have problems!!!

its good they wanna have as much hero talents rdy when the first alpha/beta waves go out and ppl can test it. so if design is shit/boring or whatever there is time they can fix it and i think its easy fixable compared to "broken/boring" talenttrees.

Hero talents are honestly going to be exciting. But it's gonna need a lot of changes if it's going to stay evergreen.

Dad comment inc. I listen to a lot of these types of videos with open speakers, I love your videos but can't listen to them with my kids around because of all the F bombs. I get it this likely will get laughed at and that's fine, but you likely aren't gaining subscribers by dropping the bombs but it might be costing you subs. Just something to think about.

Im gonna use left side talents whether they are annoying for others or not and then have a macro to spam that says "Blame Microsoft" when we all die.

I love how no one sees the extra 2 or 3 weakauras you’ll need to maximize your frostfire dmg. This tree is fucking TERRIBLE for fire … it’s just giving us a choice whether to frostfire bolt or Sun Kings. The idea that you’ll be able to cast both is a fucking NIGHTMARE. At best this is a frost only spec.

jesus what a mess - not that isn't good, it's too good - and i'm really afraid (and we know it's gonna happen) that this is their copout excuse not to fix existing class trees and this is gonna be worse than covenants

This is soposte to be what the hero talents are, a combination of the 2. The oracle priest and lightsmith pally talents would be better as trinkets or tier set bonuses. Just do stuff like this.

Worth noting, which both hurts and helps your idea of festermight, that currently you ignore Festermight and are never holding it based on stacks. Generally not an increase to play around it compared to just doing your rotation

Yeah I feel like with frostfire empowerment, you will likely be getting enough instant procs to not need to think about the stacks.

The fact that it doesn't impact your rotation begs the question why it's there in the first place. Either make it impact full or don't have it in the kit.

It 'can' be very impactful. You don't actually have to burst the wounds. If you get 5 stacks or more on 4 or more targets, and have those targets die simultaneously, you get max stacks for max duration which, especially in mythic+, can result in insane burst potential.@@lichmourne00 Personally I really enjoy festermight when I can make use of it, and when I can't it's just a bonus. Like fallen crusader.

Really excited for this one, but they better remove Living Bomb from the fire tree. With multiple passive ways of getting bombs, you will never ever want to press the spell Living Bomb.

I'm not 100% certain the frost/fire mastery works like festermight. If i recall, the soulcrush talent for veng is worded the same way but each stack is individual like iron fur even though they share a single icon on the buff bar.

And now compare that to the Dark Ranger again, where half the talent points are passive or defensive shit and your big interactions are... that you sometimes get a free KS or AS with your 30s CD dot. Meanwhile Frostfire over here having just about every talent interact with each other in a meaningful way that isn't just "summon a random dog, deal 10% more damage, every now and then your Multishot splashes".

I mean Hunter has literally 4 buttons to press, kinda hard to make any of them interact in a meaningfull way... But yes I do agree that Dark Ranger should get something to add more flavor between the specs, the banger trait of Frostfire meteor calling down the meteor of the other spec just looks amazing, IDK if a similar feeling effect could be done on Hunter I don't play the class.

No, brain freeze is way better than 10 sec cdr on phoenix. Phoenix flames already has significant cdr, 10 seconds more is not what they need, they need some other type of effect that's better. Aside frostfire empowerment this tree tends to favor frost, but it's a really good tree already, they just need to fix some interactions.

@@bluey1695 that would work, but then people would complain about muh sustain damage. I mean I would like it personally, as I'm a big fan of CDR. They just need to buff unleashed inferno significantly for the people who want burst. In any case 10 sec CDR on combustion might work well. And we still have the other talent setup which could favor burst damage for the people who want it.

Dunno, I feel like there were other things that could reset your brain freeze which at some point will just start munching brain freezes. I have not been playing frost, so i could be wrong. Fire also have talents to interact with living bomb, which kinda sucks right now but who knows. 10s CDR on combustion is crazy, you guys must be joking.

@@VkaraujoHusk Its no more impressive than a brain freeze proc, but it they could also replace the phoenix CDR with with fire blast cdr As for wasting brain freeze procs, it's not that likely, brain freeze proc is much lower than fingers of frost, you're not that likely to waste them if you use them properly, also you have 2 charges of flurry anyway

I'm meh about this.... the mechanics of it sounds weird to work with. Maybe just the synergy of frostfire sounds weird on paper but should be good in practice? idk...

The only concern I have with frostfire is that it makes frostbolt even more overloaded than it already can be, and I'm a little worried that it'll make us want to just take every frostbolt talent and press nothing else during CDs. I have classic if I want to do that.

they were talking about balancingthis tree a lot, bcs while fire has lot of access to frost spells, frost mage has only three spells - fire blast, blast wave and dragon breath.. and maybe meteor if we start playing that

Frostfire was first introduced during lich king, it was my main spec during that expansion. it was op then and is going to be again!!!! so stoked

I really want to like Hero talents, but it's just more variables to every damn class. Like, you got 40 clases with 69 specs each and now you have to balance 420 new hero talents that are supposed to make sense for both connecting specs but also not screw over your tier set and your trinkets and your proccs. Like, WoW needs a simplification to then rebuild the whole talent trees.

Sounds like Ascension might be for you. They do cross class/spec stuff. Like fire mage with destroyed lock etc.

There’s definitely some specs with a lot of button bloat and unneeded rotational complexity, but for the most part things are pretty solid and balanced right now. The hero talents so far too typically will be replacing an ability, modify a current ability or will be adding an ability to specs that don’t have a ton going on.

I disagree with this so much. They DID simplify things with the great pruning and EVERYONE was fucking furious that they homogenized classes. Wow is the most fun when you get weird builds and that means sometimes things are broken. I find that WAY more interesting than simplifying things.

@@Kmaitland89 I do remember the pruning so thanks for bringing that up. Maybe it's just a me thing, thinking that Blizz keeps cornering itself into more and more of a balancing hell with so many variables.

i feel like festermights mostly terrible because its a tier 3 talent and you can just very quickly run outta pimples yto pop and get unlucky with ghoul rng and have to burn runes on more pimple upkeep which just makes it feel SO much worse than something like mongoose bite. BUT yes ironfur>festermight lol
