Here is the history for those who might be uneducated in this area: In 60 BC, the Han Dynasty established the Western Regions Protectorate in Kucha, marking the first time various countries in today's Xinjiang region became nominally subordinate to what is now China. Since then, Xinjiang has experienced periods of alliance, subordination, or separation. In 1755, under the command of generals like Zhao Hui and A Gui, the Qing dynasty's army annihilated the Zunghar Khanate. Three years later, they also eliminated the Amursana forces, stabilizing the Western Regions. Emperor Qianlong named this land "Xinjiang," meaning newly opened borderlands, a term originating from his 1760 decree to the Governor of Shaanxi and Gansu, Yang Yingju. Since 60 BC, Xinjiang has maintained a formal or informal relationship with China, predating the birth of Jesus Christ. The name "Xinjiang" has been official since 1760. Around this time, the British East India Company began to significantly intervene in Indian politics, influencing local rulers and informally annexing territory. Urumqi is not just Uyghur, there are other ethnicities like Kazakhs, Uzbek, Tatars, Krygz, Hui, Tajiks, Han, etc, basically the central asian ethnicities. Also not every building that looks like a mosque functions as a mosque. I think mosque anywhere in China are open only to local and foreign muslims. Non-muslim tourists can only enter the mosque during non-prayer times. Muslims in China are not supposed to pray in public anywhere they like. They either pray at home or in mosque or some enclosed areas. Same applies to other religions. I have been to China a few times so I know the Xinjiang before and after the separatists' attack happened more than 10yrs ago which was chaotic, both Han and Uyghurs were attacked. Because of that, Xinjiang comes under heavier police surveilance compared to elsewhere. Don't forget Xinjiang borders a few other countries like Afghanistan, Pakistan where terrorists exist and cross the borders. Foreigners should concern themselves more about Palestine, where real genocide is happening and can be seen on a day-to-day basis. In Xinjiang, at least the Muslims have houses to live, eat well and enjoying their evenings shopping, not threatened by terrorism from neighbouring countries.

For instance, “even locals can not get into the mosques”-(you don’t get into a mosque if you are not a muslim, unless those ones which opened to the public for tourism), or “you never hear the mosque calls when people pray”-( they only call at certain times. I think you were still in bed sleeping when they called. I have even heard the calls from my local mosque, even I am not from Xinjiang area).

Xinjiang is divided into two parts by the Tianshan Mountains, Southern Xinjiang and Northern Xinjiang. The Han people migrated and settled here 2,200 years ago. They are one of the aborigines of Xinjiang and arrived earlier than almost all ethnic minorities today. 1,200 years ago, the Uighurs migrated from the Mongolian Plateau to southern Xinjiang.

Mosques only open during prayers times, but there are some mosques which are also open for tourists, they open all the time..In China all the religious activities are performed in designated areas like Mosques, Church, Temples etc so cant do in public..the ones you called military people are actually security guards..Military are only called when a something happens..2011 to 2014 there were some attacks on security where around 200 people died, so next five years were so tight, and now its open for all..record numbers of tourist are visiting there so areas are much more prosperous now and this change is happening so quickly...

It’s not military presence but police. Xinjiang had terrorist attacks about 11 years ago (can’t remember the actual year) that spread to Beijing, Yunan, etc. You may research into Xinjiang terrorism perhaps you are surprised US was involved in instigating it. Therefore today you see slightly more police and security control than other provinces. Also security check at metro and high speed train stations nationwide was implemented due to the terrorist attacks. Visit China yourself and compare how much it differs from western and India media. Every province and city include Xinjiang and Tibet are open to foreign tourists- not sure if this is the same in India.

No need to take taxi since there are metros in ÜRÜMQI. However, the guy always stay in OLD towns of these cities which the Chinese prefer to NOT renovate because the old styles can be better preserved. He is NOT willing to show any new towns of Xinjiang because until now He has NEVER showed any NEW towns of Lhasa.

11:11 Anaar is actually Arabic and Persian mix. That’s the reason pomegranate is called as Anaar in many of the Islam majority places. Hindi word for Pomegranate is Dalimb. Today’s spoken Hindi in northern India is mostly mix of Urdu and Hindi. Pure spoken Hindi is very rare to find nowadays.

China & Indian are neighbouring countries & we had a peaceful coexistence since eternity. Only in 1962 India was attacked by China. Yes Chinese economy has become 4 times now which more or less equal 30 years back. There are several issues why India could not maintain the pace with China. But one thing I respect about China is the cleanliness. Just amazing & every Indian should think about it. It does not cost any thing to do it. But yes for the last 10 years Indian govt is focusing on cleaniness. And slowing it is improving though. And the infrastructure landscaping is amazing. What I feel all Indain Govts tried to maintain good relationship with Chinese govt but as long as the border disputes gets resolved it will be difficult to reach the top of relation.

The most militarized place in China is capital city Beijing, not Xinjiang.😁 There are four tiers of personals to ensure public safety and order. - Military: They are station by borders and army camps, but will no patrol the civilian street. So, you don‘t see them in your video clip. - Military Police: 0:06, 20:55, they are police with upgraded equipments and vehciles, like "special police force" to safe guard main route, key areas and buildings, and crowd controls. - Police: 16:53, Ordinary police. - City Management Officials (in uniforms but No weapons): They are there to regulate street venders, public hygene and appearence, and enforce city by-laws.

In 16:53, you will also find civilian Safety Guards, mostly Female and Matured people pay by private company. Some of them also dress in some sort of uniforms, but they are not law enforcement, only ordinary citizens.

Its confused by foreign visitors when they see "Military Police" and "City Management Officials", because they don‘t have these tiers of safety pesonals in there country. The Special police (Re-enforced Police) in most countries was only called upon when the situation arised, but in China, they are on the street to increase police visibility. If you are a woman with small children, these three tiers of personals will make you safe and free to travel anywhere in your daily life.

Well, I'd like to show a mirror into Indians who are talking about military presence. In northeast India, India government stations a large military personnel, and the ratio of military vs civilians is 1:5 to 1:4. In IoK(India Occupied Kashmir), the ratio is even much higher. Under the AFSPA(Armed Forces Special Powers Act), the military can shoot and kill anyone with impunity. Many Indian ethnic minority were brutally murdered. In the rest of India, It is quite an accustomed scene that soldiers are roaming around with rifle in hands, the cops are strutting with a long bamboo stick(lathi). People outside India would think the sticks are used to drive off stray dogs or live stock animals. The matter of truth is that those sticks are for Indian common people.

❤❤❤❤ This blogger (the wandering maniac) is one of the most decent man around. What he has been trying to do is to tell the truth about China and its people. What we have to remenber is that Indians and Chinese have been living together peacefully as friendly neighbours for thousands of years until India was conquered by Great Britain and China was subdued by the western powers and Japan. 在中国，如果居民遇到困难会找警察或则消防队员帮忙，我个人也觉得比较神奇，这些困难包括不限于"家里出现蜂窝与蛇，老年人出门忘记带钥匙导致无法回家，带了尺寸不合适的戒指无法取下，夫妻吵架到相互打架，楼上楼下邻居出现矛盾争吵，小孩子出现不安全的事故等等"所以在中国，人民看到警察的第一反应是安全感以及找他帮忙。不要用自己国家的一些行为准则去套用在他国。

顺便说一下，我父亲曾经就是一位警察，他每年不定时都会去探望一些老人，这些老人的孩子是因为犯罪被我父亲亲自送进监狱的，他也会嘱咐所在街道的户籍民警照顾一二这些老人，我为他的行为自豪。
