Today's episode is a first-impressions-comedy-of-errors look at the Tiger Moth on a flight around Gorge River, New Zealand, featuring Tom and Jerry. I didn't realise until after shutdown that the winds were variable and gusting 35 knots. That explains so much...

Haha. We have a freezing south westerly ripping through. You picked the worst time to fly on the southern west coast! Love it! The take 1 taxi roll was crack up.

Congratulations on your 300th! The Tigermoth, what a handful! Have had the pleasure of some aerobatics in a real one. Fantastic experience.

A very entertaining flight😊 She's a beautiful bird. Unless I am mistaken, I think Ant is another fellow Queenslander.

Cheers mate, it's a stunning place to fly. Thanks to MSFS, we can all enjoy it whenever we want.

That was great! You've got yourself another subscriber, although I thought I'd done that weeks ago.

The markings are brand new. ZK-BFS was pulled out of storage in July this year after 24 years of no flying (the photos you were talking about would've been from before 1998!) and in September, emerged in the markings your model displays

Cheers mate. This is another example of learning more in the comments than I do by flying! Really appreciate the info.

The Flying Dad and, I guess, The Flying Uncle ! Lovely choice for the 300th video and congratulations ! As soon as the plane loaded I recognised the strip, I had several tries at landing the Big Radials Goose there before clicking it was an amphibian - derrr, I've never once seen one land on a runway - and just landing next to the runway and taxying up to the hut :) Must grab that scenery, your version looks so much better than Asobos. If you're using real weather, you should know it was horrendously windy over most of NZ for most of last week. I'd say at the end you were getting blown backwards down the runway, and as you noticed 60 kts one way was about twice the groundspeed of 60 kts the other way. Wouldn't surprise me if you got picked up by the wind and flipped on the first takeoff attempt. It really has been that windy. You gained 400' in the aileron roll which probably works out around a 2000fpm climb, might have something to do with the slowing down. I usually lose about 500 so your way is probably better :)

I was looking for the bird on your screen but its your chirpy co pilot

The co pilot definitely looked like a Nigel. Lol

Your comment prompted me to watch my video to see what I called him! (Can't keep up with my own nonsense) Nigel is his middle name.

Hello mate. Like their real life equivalents, my virtual companions mostly ignore me.

That NZ airstrip in reality is much more "rugged" . There is a video on FB of a real landing there.

Hello mate. Good thing it's not too rugged in the sim - otherwise I might have rolled over on takeoff OR taxied backwards! We couldn't have that!

I think these new wind gusts introduced with the last update are far too exaggerated and spoil the enjoyment I wish you could turn them off!

They do seem excessive. A bit too much for some of us older flying Dads! But what’s going on at MSFS I wonder. I know November is skewing things, but they’ve gone very quiet. Fewer Dev q and a, slowing the updates, no comments on the graphics driver debacle. It just makes me wonder if the big chiefs at Microsoft have said ‘ enough’. They were really doing a lot until a couple of months ago. I suppose there has to be a balance between income and how much you spend on these things. They’d already started saying it’s no good just keep adding features with more to go wrong. Maybe the development is getting its wind up signal.. not ‘wind’ as in gusts.. the business project might be exhausted.. or ‘buggered’ as some folks might say!!
