First Impressions: Leica 12 60mm f2.8-4

In need of an all around zoom lens? I was, something for those times where one lens needs to do it all. Join me as I put the Leica 12-60mm through it's paces and share my initial thoughts. Is this the best micro four thirds zoom lens?

Good stuff. Fellow m43 nerd from Canada. Just picked up a gh6 a couple weeks ago and am loving it so far. Recently had my first experience with the shabby autofocus that comes with low-light shooting, but until then have been mostly impressed by its AF (compared to a gh5 anyways). But above all really enjoying the prores. My computer sucks but I have tons of storage...

Is it possible you has I.S. Boost mode on? Ive had jerky foortage like you're getting before when accidentally having that enabled 🤷‍♂️

I'm fairly certain Boost was off during this test and I have seen the same thing other times with it off, but, someone on a facebook group pointed out that the stabilisation is slightly worse when shooting in 5.7k or 5.8k (I was filming in 5.7k). I've done some quick tests and I think it might be true as it seems to behave much better in 4k. I'm going to do some more tests to make sure as that is the only thing I don't like about this lens. It looks great and is really versatile.

@@jonpaultucker Yes the 5.7k has worse IBIS (Open Gate 5.8k is even worse), I can't believe so few people speak about this. Also, there is a bug with the AF-C when using slow frame rate in C4K,4K and 5,7K, the focus looks accurate at first, but when cropping inside the video, it is clearly not accurate. The GH5 had slower AF but it was most of the time accurate. The best thing about the GH6 is definitely the colors (and skin tones), the best I've seen, even better than my new G9II.
