im romanian but i live in UK, makes me happy when i see foreign people saying that romania is not what they expected, drives me crazy that english people in special when they hear about visiting romania they go like 'eew why would i wanna go there?!' . that's why i like americans :)

I’ve heard of Bucharest many times in my family, for some reason I believe a part of my family is from that area. I really don’t know. But I always thought it was this small sad city… Boy, was I wrong!!! What a gem!! And the giant building? It sort of reminded me of the Atlantis resort in Bahamas! What a lovely city!! ❤️

I was told that Bucharest area is the place where my grandparents come from. I have never pictured it to be this way. Surprised just as you were!!

Romania is a SUPER RICH country...my friend,...despite the fact you know is poor....the people are poor because of a lot of passing troubles...but as a country...Romania has everything - mountains, sea, land for agriculture rich in cermosioum, riches in the land and in the sea like petrolium, gold and others! A perfect weather with the all 4 seasons. Winter you can go to the mountains and in the summer to the sea! Cheers

Near that Arch of Triumf is the bigest Park in our country " Herăstrău" ( King Michael the first) amazing park with manny teraces, restaurants, boat ride, village museum ( english & romanian translation) etc etc visit that Park when you are near Arch the Triumf next time, also near is Sports Museum ( At " Comitetul olimpic și sportiv român) 🥰🥲

haha you can go with your kids during the day to the Old Town in Bucharest without any problems, during the night the are ladys who dance in very provocative clothes in the pubs but during the day I was with my kids 1000 times there...

Old town "red light district" .. that cracked me up as a romanian :)))) Nah, most people there are socialites who bring their families at caffees and stuff lol

Romania is not in the Balkans, is in Karpatians. Balkans are in the south of Danube.

I have a message for your travel show favourite that complained about the communist buildings in Bucharest: We can't erase 50 years of history and we can't demolish those old commie blocks and leave the owners of those apartments in the streets untill we build "new capitalist housing". Besides that you can find this type of communist building all throughout Eastern Germany and even all the way to Berlin...

Usually the Paris of the east is Budapest not Bucharest; the new Berlin is a nickname from Leipzig. But nice try 😅
