FIRST IMPRESSIONS of CEBU CITY 🇵🇭 + Trying FILIPINO LECHON!

Our first full day in Cebu city! We’ve noticed that the cities show various similarities but also so many differences. Our first impressions of Cebu exceeded our expectations! Since Cebu is the oldest city in the Philippines, we take you to the very beginning - to Colon street which was founded in 1594 when the Spanish settlers arrived. Next on the list was trying out the famous Carcar Lechon! So many of you suggested House of Lechon and that’s exactly where we went! The delicious delicacy did not disappoint! We also tried the absolutely mouth-watering Sisig too! House of Lechon was the perfect place to try out these fantastic dishes! If you haven’t tried them before we suggest you go there for an all round experience 😍 and last but not least is the other side of town called Ayala! A complete contrast to where we first started our day! Ayala is very modern and developed with loads of beautiful buildings and eloquent shopping malls! Endless amounts of upscale restaurants and cafes! We definitely got an all around full experience in our first full day in Cebu! We could see ourselves living here forever! We are in love with this city and our experience so far has been great!

This video made me miss Cebu. My husband was from Cebu City, and we lived there for 16 years. It is such a beautiful place where city and provincial life meet. The standard of living is pretty much like Manila, but If you want to relax, you have quick access to the mountains or the beautiful beaches. Thank you for sharing your experiences there.

Hi guys, I'm a Cebuano and I'm from Cebu City. I'll tell you that the longer you stay in this Queen City, know its culture and diversity, the more you'll like it here. Our local people are naturally hospitable, approachable and friendly. There are a lot of cheap or very affordable places, food, clothing and etc if you know where to find them. Personally, I think Cebu is the best place to live. I like everything is in reach, like big malls in just 15 mins, amazing beaches in just 15mins, amazing food,hotels, and restaurant in just 15 mins, the mountains in just 15mins, a big hospitals are near just in case of emergency, there's a direct flight to many countries, it's like convenience and necessities are within reach. I really love it. I just hope we get to have more parks here in Cebu and it's just gonna be like South Korea. It's amazing really

Fun fact: Compared to those jeepneys in Manila, our jeepneys in Cebu are number-coded according to their route (that's why you see numbers like 14D, 01K, 12L, 06B), it makes going around more efficient. Cebu's transitioning to modern jeepneys, called 'Beeps', or bus-jeep hybrids.

@@fkoff7649 The new Mango Beep following the Talisay-IT park route has a pretty festive design tho. Modern beeps are an option for commuters who want to stay cool, especially on a very hot day. Wouldnt wanna discredit beeps bc pre-pandemic, I was very comfortable commuting to school during rush hour, despite having to stand the whole ride.

@@ShevandDev You can also visit Olango Island. Just 1 ferry/boat ride for 20 minutes. Quiet Island to visit with a *Bird Sanctuary* and Telescope to view. (not sure if the season is right for viewing though but you can try).

Do not limit your trip just in Cebu City, there are more nice sceneries in both Northern and Southern part of Cebu Province. Enjoy your stay in our Province. :)

The nice thing about Cebu is that in less than an hour you can be in a wonderful beach! And there’s so many beaches from ordinary to 5-star resorts to visit!

Doing it local style! Cebu has plenty of sceneries and adventure places. Chase waterfalls, swim with thousands of sardines, or whale sharks or hike osmena peak, go to sumilon island or bantayan island just to name a few ! Enjoy !

Just be safe going to places, beware of your valuables keep it to your chest, like everywhere in the world there are always bad people who tk advantage of unsuspecting strangers. When I saw all the dishes you ordered at the House of Lechon I kept wondering to myself how are they going to finish all that? The food looked amazing. I could imagine it was delicious as well. Definitely if you want to save money, take public transportation which is much cheaper than taking a cab. Just ask for help and tell people where you intend to go and they will tell you which jeep or bus to take.

To be honest, Cebu is one of the most beautiful places I have visited with rich history and background. If I move to the Philippines this would be my first choice to choose from. there is so much to see and it's only a river ride to Bohol. Manila is great but only in BGC if you choose to live in Manila. the vibe between the two cities is different I feel like Cebu is more layback than Manila.

@@ShevandDev that's a very accurate description of the province! If you like a city with a laid-back kind of vibes but still equipped with modern-day conveniences then this is the city for you. In an hour's ride, you could go to Mactan Island for a dip in the sea. Or go south and enjoy the country life and nature.

House of Lechon was my favorite, I remember my first bite too of lechon, it has a different crunch than any other lechon in the country; like Manila, Cebu is a mixture of old and new, i like strolling in the Ayala mall area and IT park as well, will visit again for sure.

@5:44 that mini bus you ride to SM is the "modern jeepney". It tends to replace the traditional jeepney, phasing out old jeepney. it looks like a mini bus but locals still refer to it as a jeepney

I love your videos! Cebu is definitely one of the places you have to visit when you're in the Philippines. You should try going to Busay! It has a lot of different spots you can go to such as Top of Cebu, Balay sa Busay, and West 35. People from Cebu consider it a quick escape from the city since it's a mountainous area that's so close to Mandaue and Cebu City. Also, I just wanna say that I saw you filming this actually in Ayala 😭 That gray car you see passing by as you walk by the Metro store in Ayala is mine! I was so shocked to see you guys filming and was so excited to know that you would be uploading. I can't wait to see your next videos

This is where some of the most Down to Earth, Beautiful and Talented Women in the Philippines like, Governor Gwen Garcia, Morisette Amon just to mention a few. By the way, the Spanish/Portuguese Explorer Ferdinand Magellan claimed to be the 1st European to discover the Philippines in March 16, 1521. We the Filipinos Celebrated the 500'th year of Christianization, last year. Don't forget to stop by Fort San Pedro located in Plaza Independencia.

I figured that everyone else will comment on the feast you had so I will talk about Cebu's deep secret. You went to Colon Street which is the oldest street in the Philippines. Cristobal Colon is the Spanish name of Christopher Columbus. Cebu is the legendary city of Sheba, as in Queen of Sheba...which is the real reason why Magellan chose to plant the cross there and claim the islands for God and Spain. Obviously, they didn't come for the spices but for the gold. The story behind the Yellow Brick Road is based on Cebu and its wealth and the basis for the story of the Wizard of Oz. Filipinos have the most difficult time believing in this legend because we have been through centuries of pain and suffering under the Spaniards. As Christians, Filipinos wonder why God had punished us if He actually loved and cared for His people. So there...let that all sink in!

Try to visit southern part of cebu and also the northern part too .. there's more place you can enjoy.. and always ask to the local they will help you where you want to go .. enjoy your vacation at cebu..

Kumusta, I am Ed and my wife, Luz is from Cebu, we love Cebu and have bought a house in Talisay. Some recommendations, Larison Fiuente BBQ, the Philippines BBQ Capital, Cebu City for a great BBQ experience, go in the evening it is well worth it, also go see SM Seaside Mall. I am from Tx and we are now living on Guam, but go home as often as we can. Love your videos! At a bakery, a must is Pan de Coco, my favortie, especially when still hot. Aside from exploring the South of Cebu for Canyoneering, for Sardine run, Swim with the whales, climbing Osmeña peak, or Waterfall hunting, etc., and North of Cebu for the Cebu Safari, Bantayan island, Virgin island, Malapascua, Camotes, Mt. Kapayas, etc. It is highly recommended also to enjoy the beauty of the City. enjoy the food like Cebu de lechon or inasal or litson in local Cebuano language which you did, also try Sutukil, kinilaw, seafood, Siomai, Danggit, Chorizo de Cebu, Dried mangoes, Otap, chicharon, Puso rice and eat it with litson/inasal, barbecue, etc.. In the City visit the Magellan's Cross, the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño Church, the newly built Santo Niño Chapel behind the City Hall, Lapu-lapu shrine in mactan, sm seaside city the 3rd largest mall in the country, the Ocean Park next to sm seaside, take a glimpse of the CCLEX or the 3rd Bridge the longest, the tallest and the most sophisticated Bridge in the country, Ayala terraces & roof top garden in ayala center, Sugbo mercado in IT park. Experience overlooking City view visit Blue Elephant sky lounge, Blu bar & grill in Marco Polo plaza, and Verified lounge. When you buy Lechon make sure get at least a three plates because it's SOO GOOD! Late Anthony Bourdain voted Lechon best pork in the world he been to different countries try all pork but Lechon is the best 👌! He just LOVE IT with beer. He also loves sisig!

You’ve finally arrived to my hometown, born and grew up in Cebu and missed it for almost 3 years and I finally was able to travel and visit this year. I normally go home almost every one to two years from the US. Studied my undergrad a few miles from Colon. I’m glad you guys did your research before walking and traveling around. Lechon, yum! When you are at the very end of the jeepney bench, you pass your fare and so does everyone else same time, your change comes back amazingly fast and orderly. Other way of traveling to save; more local! luv it, the way i would do it to maximize the experience.

Congratulations for taking the jeepney in Cebu! How about going to Tops and visiting the flower fields or may be the Taoist Temple? The Temple of Leah is also a beautiful palce to see. Jumalon's Place houses so many of Professor Jumalon's butterfly wings paintings. That is, if you're into art. Century Old Churches and beautiful beaches are found in the Southern part of the island.

Been watching your videos. You can definitely make Cebu your base in the Phil. It's central location makes it very accessible to the other islands. It has the best of both worlds - the city life and the island life, more laid back than Manila. The historical places near Colon are the Basilica del Sto Niño, the Magellan's Cross right beside the church, the Metropolitan Cathedral, Fort San Pedro, Casa Gorordo Museum is a well preserved Spanish home as well as the Yap-Sandiego ancestral house. Down south you can visit Oslob for the whale sharks, Moalboal for the sardine run and sea turtles, Badian-Kawasan canyoneering, hike to Osmeña and Casino peaks, visit the 8 level Aguinid Falls in Samboan. Go north and head to Bantayaan island for its pristine white beaches and Malapascua to dive and see thresher sharks. Right across Cebu mainland is Mactan where you can also find white sand beaches. Enjoy Cebu and keep safe always. Love your vlogs!

Oh! And Ayala Mall! Wow! You are featuring my fave mall too! I'm so much happy! Yey! There's another Ayala Mall and it's called Central Bloc in I.T. Park. About 2.3 kilometers away from this 1st ever Ayala Mall in Cebu. And there's an ongoing construction of the 3rd Ayala Mall in Mandaue City. Neighboring City of Cebu City that is.

Cebu is a diversed island, wherein they have an international airport & seaport.. a few hours away from the city both south & northside youll be greeted with magnificent waterfalls with canyoneering,white beaches, scuda world class diving ..aside from that uptown cebu city has the best mountain panoramic view of the city...then few mins away from the city drive mactan island has the best any kind of best service resorts...

I followed 12 new foreign couples traveling around the Philippines right now but you two are my favorite. I love your sunny disposition and genuine reaction. I also love that you truly immerse yourselves with our local culture and you make an effort to research and learn about our history. I really wish you publish vlogs on a daily basis. I know that’s a hard task given internet availability and the time to edit, but that would help blow your subscription even more. Anyways, enjoy your travels and keep safe! I recommend that you did. Like i said, CEBU is the best combination of city and island life in the country. Or per your experience thus far, metro manila in the middle of palawan. Less the pollution, cost and congestion of manila. How can you top that? lol And, gateway to other top destinations in phl and other parts of the world (they have an AWESOME international airport)
