We are so excited to be in Laos! We started our travels in the capital city, Vientiane. Our Airbnb is in a 100-year-old French colonial building. We started our day by visiting some remarkable temples located in the city. We walked by the Presidential Palace and headed down to the Patuxay Monument. This arc resembles the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, France. Unfortunately, we could not go up the arc, but we weren't too mad about not climbing hundreds of stairs since it was so hot. :)
We took a tuk-tuk to get around the city and on our first day in Vientiane, Matt was in charge of directions and getting us back. We walked down to a night market located on the Mekong River and close to our stay. This was an intensely crowded event, but the shops and food stands were neat.
