I am a lefty and I understand your frustration. But, I wear the sheath on whatever side I wish and just adjust after the draw. I am thankful that really good knives like this are available at a good price and I am willing to adjust accordingly.
I've considered buying one of these for quite awhile now. I just haven't pulled the trigger because I have the problem so many knife nuts have in that I already have more than I can use already! 😆
I feel you 1,000% on the lefty struggles. Seriously disappoints me when production knives don’t come with an ambidextrous sheath option. I’ve been eyeing the BK62 as a potential next contender; I think I’ll definitely be upgrading to micarta scales.
It’s a struggle only lefty’s know. 😔 LOL. I’m definitely pleased that I got this knife. I’m a big fan of that whole era of camping and woodcraft. I haven’t ruled out a set for mine either. Thanks for watching
I like the comfort of the BK-62 but the blade length of the PR-4. There isn’t a lot of difference between the length of the handle but the difference is in the thickness. Plus the BK-62 is better contoured which adds to its comfort. I hope that helps some. Thanks for watching
Thanks for sharing. I was drawn to the blade length and relative thinness of the PR4. I imagine the PR4 (except the scales) to be as clean/straight/aesthetic as a knife could possibly be. And it’s not that I don’t like Beckers. I’m a huge fan of the BK16 and BK9. But, oh, the PR4 has something irresistible.
@@cecilm3720 The PR-4 is the perfect combination for the type of use I expect from a bushcraft knife. In my opinion it’s the perfect combination and the only drawback is the handle thickness (or like there of).
I had my BK62 since it came out. I love this knife except as you said it would be nice if it came with a left handed sheath option. Thanks for the great video! ATB Sam Adler from Vietnam
Hi, I am getting a custom Kephart made by a knife maker, but none of us own a BK62 (and lbh that is the go to for a Kephart). If someone could provide some dimensions of their BK62, I would be very greatful. I am getting a slightly bigger knife and we want to get the proportions right. Width of the blade on the widest point near the tip, width of the blade near the guard. Width of the handle on the finger guard, width of the handle on the end (widest). Thicknesses of the handle on the same spots would be usefull as well as well as how much it tapers. Thank you in advance.
I’ll try to get you some info. If you’ve never read Horace Kephart’s Book of Camping and Woodcraft, it has a really good description of his knife in it. Thanks for watching
@@CentralKyBushcraft Thanks for the reply. I've already extracted the spec from a picture (enlarged it to 1:1 on screen and took measurements. Then a good soul from reddit replied and confirmed the dimensions.
