First Impressions on Fae Farm After Spending $60... 

Thanks for the review! I was so surprised to see the price of this game. If it was $30 I wouldn’t hesitate to buy it but $60 is too much in my opinion.

If the social aspect would have been there, this would be a perfect game for me honestly but I'll definitely wait to play it

Hey quick tip , the first day is when you should explore and clean out your farm because the energy bar goes down but will still let use energy if that makes sense and also the time doesn’t end on day one until you finish the last quest by talking to the mayor after you put the items on the table . So you can explore as much as you want and time doesn’t matter .

Thanks for the honest review. I'm more invested in character relationships and romance rather than adventuring so I think this will probably be a skip for me. Also not a fan of the character art lol. If it's ever on sale low enough I might try it out since the world is beautiful.

I'm obsessed with the game. I think I will easily sink hundreds of hours into it, the social stuff is never my focus though. I love the effort they put into story and content, there's so much to do and many layers! I def understand why some people want to wait though, I'm excited to see this game reach its potential

To be fair. That $60 gets you base game, and 2 future expansions. I don't know why they only sell the one version on switch but PC has a $40 version that doesn't include future dlc.

I'm loving this game! I'm blown away by all of the character customizations!!! Once I figured out that my produce sells for a ton more once it gets cooked up...but then I get in tricky situations where I sell all my food and then end up in the mines without any food 😅 I'm really liking the crafting system in this game over the crafting system in SoS:PoOT! I love the fact that Argyle stands on the beach blowing bubbles! I love the fact that while yes, there's quests, they aren't timed (at least not the one's I've run into yet). I can see why some folks would be disappointed in the social aspect, it works for me, since I'm not the most social person IRL and in my gaming, I can get very task focused and there are times when I just don't want to talk to folks. I totally think it's worth the $60...especially since that price means that I won't have to worry about budgeting for the DLC! The only bugs I've come across (and I'm playing handheld on the Switch) is a couple of momentary pauses (usually when it's autosaving) and then when I unlock things, the almanac entry unlock popup shows like 4 times for each item, which can make the screen a touch crowded, but is also comical in a way (since I work in a library, information is my thing...and I'm big on making sure that I communicate things in multiple ways and as clearly as possible...this glitch is very much a me thing 😆)

Thanks for a great video. Your opinions align pretty much with mine! It’s sad you can’t make a lot of money by farming. I’ve been mostly making money by farming peridots and copper to make Engraved Copper Seals. I can’t stand the various crafting stations. It’s hard to keep track of what does what. The social interactions are so disappointing especially that you can romance them. Whyyyy would I marry any of them when they all say the same thing?! I’m glad I got this game as a gift haha.

For me this game was 100% worth the price. I love the game and I have over 20 hours already. The gameplay is really fun, albiet a bit tedious especially around the beginning but the gameplay has been very addicting. It feels very reminiscent of animal crossing new horizons but in my opinion its been way more engaging. While I agree with the simple relationships i have still really enjoyed it. I fell in love with a character really quickly (Nhamashal my bae) and basically spent like half of my playtime putting in the effort to get married. I am 100% the main demographic for this game though. I love customization and the fairy aesthetic so this game is perfect for me. It feels a lot like Stardew Valley (though the characters are a little flat). If you don't have 60 dollars to drop on a game on a whim I would wait for a sale. I really hope the dev team puts a lot of effort into updating this game since it definitely needs some bug fixes and some more content would be worth it, though paid dlc is not my favorite thing. All in all its a really fun take on a farming sim and if the aesthetic is attractive to you I think its wonderful.

i was excited for this game but with the price and the bland npcs and getting married that is something i like in my game i think ill hold off on getting this game there are other games that focus more on npcs and marriage and farming aspects that have similar things in it i mean if i want magic i have wylde flowers and my time at sand rock is comming out that has alot of crafting and quests in it

i already have 20 hours logged and im only in chapter 5! im loving it its running amazing on switch for me, both on docked and on my switch lite deffo worth the money imo! its a huge story-focused game that clearly had a lot of love put into it, and theyve already patched some of the issues people were complaining about pre-launch im gonna start a multiplayer save to play with my sister and my friends, you didnt mention the multiplayer at all! i will say i agree a lot of content is gated to the later chapters, i bet theres gonna be a lot of longevity once you have all the different farms and animals unlocked but ill also say the game never pressures you to finish anything quickly so if you wanna take your time you can do that i also get that the relationships are shallow, they are. but i think its unfair to say like awl did much better at it. i LOVE awl but it definitely wasnt because i thought the relationships were that deep. this one is a little shallower than that definitely but its hardly my first example if im thinking really great marriage candidates with lots of personality and ubisoft craps out bullshit for $60+ that runs WAY worse than this. and people keep buying those lol or nintendos latest pokemon mess idk i thought you were mostly fair but i ultimately disagree and i think some people might regret having waited once they try for themselves

There's a lot of cool stuff about the game.. I'm hoping they improve some of the fixable issues with patches. It has a lot of potential! The social aspect is one of my favorite parts of farming sims & it's surprising to hear that it's lacking in this game

I'm in EU and you can get the base game for €40 on Steam, the €60 option is for the base game plus the two upcoming DLC packs, so there kinda sorta is a cheaper option, I'd assume it would be the same for US folks? I just picked this up on Sunday, only because (mostly) every recommended video in my feed was talking about it. I am only on day 3, and so far I am enjoying. I did wish until it went on sale but it is what it is. I like how you don't have to switch tools to carry out different actions that is nice. I guess my days now will be spent with ACNH, Hokka Life, and FaeFarm. Honestly the one thing that always makes me come back to ACNH is that I like that it is in real-time. It bothers me with all the other games that you start in Spring Day 1. Off topic, but are there other farm-sim or "cozy" games that operate in real-time?

I think you'd really love Sandrock, they kicked up the Social aspect in that game by a lot. I think its the best standard I've seen in farm/cozy games as of this generation. Really moving the genre forward in my mind. You don't unlock farming until later in the game, and its very different, but very fun regardless, even if its mostly optional.

I love this game, worth every dollar in my opinion! I have relentlessly searched videos, reviews, articles, reddit forums, kickstarter campaigns, I obsess over trying to find new games to play. While no game is perfect this one really itches my "have to find the perfect game" scratch! This is coming from someone who deeply loves animal crossing vibes, stardew valley grind and sims level decorating. This game is beautiful to look at, fun to play and the devs said theres more to come as updates and DLC.

This was a great video! But there came a moment, where you were describing who would and wouldn't like the game. And at some point it basically, to me, sounded like "Who wouldn't like this farming sim? Well, people who like farming and people who like sims" xD

I agree with the social aspects, it was really lacking but I guess they wanted us to focus more on crafting and farming. I was debating if I should get this or Rune Factory 3, but I really don't want to marry the female characters, let us be gay and marry Carlos LOL

I started playing almost as soon as it released, hyperfocused like nobody's business, and got to the end of the story last night. Flawed game, but fun. I think fewer people would be put off by the price tag if they'd released the $40 version on Switch. Hard to say if it's worth $60 pre DLC but it's definitely worth $40. The crafting is way less annoying than SoS:PoOT tbh. I just lined most of the crafting stations up in front of my house so I can access them easily. It's not pretty but it's very manageable imo. Also, the five cooking stations, two of them totally unrelated to the other three, are really not that bad imo? It all seems pretty logical to me. My main gripes are the lackluster relationships and that you can't access your storage when trading with shopkeepers.

I bought it for both me and my wife been having alot of fun with the game so far, Since we're pretty new to the farm sim genre i think this is a good game for beginners we tried stardew valley, Rune factory 5 and animal crossing(NOT saying they are bad just didn't hook us in). We fell off them pretty quick but fae farm has been a blast so far and from the comments finding out that dlc is coming i'm even more invested now.

Thanks for the detailed review!😊 I started this game a few days ago. I enjoy it a lot. There's a bunch of aspects that I think they did well but I definitely agree with the opinion of the NPCs. I wanted a different looking fairy marriage candidate.💘 Wish Finn was one of them. I only kind of like the look of Nhamashal and Pyria but Finn is my favorite looking NPC. Oh well I suppose!😐 I got it late so the DLCs are already out and it's been fun so far.

yeah i definitely wish they created a little house or building to put our crafting machines into, and maybe a link to our storage in there and maybe the time pauses when you go inside and look through storage and do crafting...

I preordered it and while I enjoy it… I feel exactly the same: this would’ve been an excellent title for $30-40. The hype was built up so high and I wasn’t in love with the art style from the beginning, and I just knew it wasn’t gonna live up to the wild hype. It’s good game don’t get me wrong but I’m not overly in love with it. I bought Rune Factory 5 a while and and still haven’t started Sea of Stars so I think I’m gonna play one of those instead once I’m done with the Pokémon DLC. ❤ I appreciate your honest reviews so much.

My friend got it on PC (said it was $20 cheaper there) and was really excited. She's disappointed and refunding. She actually is kind of disappointed in the character customization, according to her it's missing some very basic/essential hair color and the hair styles are mostly braid/dred style. She said the controls are bad, and a friend of hers that got it on Switch also said the controls were bad on Switch. I feel bad for her, she was so excited and ended up hating this game. She said all the early reviewers she'd seen had been positive and only complained about characters/marriage. She told me I should skip it, and I was like it was weird for me to drop $35 on Digimon and I did that because I know I like it. I don't have the money to make it worth buying games I don't know I'll probably like when we start getting into anything over $20 for sure. (I honestly overanalyze anything over $10 lol) But definitely was curious about how you feel about the game/your experience! Unfortunately what I heard from my friend and some of what you said are completely contradictory and I'm very confused now lol Idk even given what you've said, given what I've seen for $20 (or less) I don't know how this would feel like a good (or even fair) value for $60 personally. Customizing and quests exist in a lot of games, and a lot that aren't near that price. But your positivity is something I appreciate about watching your videos, even when I don't quite agree lol

The game is dreamlike valley with the quest and many people like dreamlike valley. I think compare to many farming sims I think this game should be giving credit than talking so horrible of it, this game was released with a lot of content, and it didn’t even got its First patch , I think the game is great and only can get greater,

Can someone PLEASE tell me why can I ONLY play this game on my lite and not my oled? My oled switch will not download this game and I just got it! 😢 I want to play this on the oled screen. I even transferred my save data and it still wouldn’t work

I was very excited to play this game. ACNH and Wylde Flowers are my favorite all time games. I jumped in and had to stop early on because the font is so small and using zoom on a switch isnt user friendly. Very disappointing!

Good review, I think you were very fair in your pros and cons! One thing to point out since there's already some comments about the $60 price tag- the Steam version has a base version for $40 and also the $60 version which includes the future DLC. The Switch version only has the $60 version though. I was on the fence about this game for $60 but when I saw they dropped the price on PC to $40 I went ahead and bought it. Enjoying it a lot so far and I think it'll likely be one of my favorite farming games but it still has room for improvement for sure! Edit to add: I'm playing the PC version and the game is very crisp and beautiful without any lag or performance issues so far. I'm not surprised the Switch version doesn't perform as well, I think as a console it just really struggles to keep up with anything modern these days.

Didn't have much hope for this game and you confirmed for me that it isn't my jam. Also, and this might be because I'm a farmer's daughter, but why would you build raised beds when you have perfectly good dirt underneath? In Sandrock it makes sense as you're in a desert 🏜 but why are doing that in a lush area like Azoria?

I dont know if its because Im mostly an Xbox gamer but honestly, I dont see a problem with $60. Thats the price of most games these days, so personally Im fine with it and Im really enjoying the game on Switch. Additionally, they said they werent allowed to lower the price on Switch the way they did on PC so they will be giving all Switch players two future DLCs at no extra cost (just like the deluxe version on PC). I do always encourage waiting for a sale for most games, though! If PC is an option for anyone reading this, you can get the base game without the two future DLCs on Steam for 40$.

I'm still thinking about getting this game. It looks interesting and a few of my friends say that they like it. I bought the game for $60, and I have no regrets. I am absolutely in love with it. I beat it once now I am doing a playthrough for completion. And as the updates come in, I will probably do other play throughs. I bought Palia and was really sad I did. I waited a long time for that game. So, I was hesitant to buy this one. And this time I got lucky.

I was excited for this game when it was announced but watching a lot of the early playthroughs, I lost my enthusiasm. I would play on Steam for the $39.99 but the lack of relationships and combat has me waiting for a Steam sale.

I’m going to pass this up because I want everyone enjoying the game in their own pace & finding a game that will called it home & a safe place & I’m going to sticking with getting Story of Seasons A Wonderful Life even I will see the sad ending but it will help me getting over my depression & getting off my mind of things & not thinking about my grandpa too much & forcing on the game & enjoying myself no matter what

I just can't understand the $60 price because farm sim games are played by a lot of casual gamers and kids (not to mention the shallow story and relationships). I still remember people were baffled about Coral Island's price (EA) being $25, but it's nothing if compared to Fae Farm. Btw, I think you might like Coral Island, do check it out if you have time.

I was hoping there would be more social elements and cute girls to marry. Lol and more on farming and bonding with animals and creatures with small takes on questing. Sounds like its sorta the opposite.

I totally agree with you on this. The game looks really nice. However the social aspect is a major point for me because I like to interact with the other characters (similar to stardew and rune factory and sos/harvest moon games). As it is now, 60$ is too much for the deluxe version for me with lack of interaxtion. Also because the 20$ difference is due to 2 dlcs which we dont have more specific info on expect that theres more romance options. For lower price, theres too many options: paleo pines, rune factory 3/4/5, stardew, sunhaven,sandrock, dinkyn in steam. That said, personally I’ll wait for a sale. The social and romance of the game is a major let down. I knew this going into it though and I hope that if enough of us talk about it and say what we want. It is a system they can change and fix. I love the wings. I love to decorate and the grindy parts are sometimes just the type of game I'm looking for. They are going in a great direction so far and just need to keep going and it could be worth the 60 dollar tag. But, definitely not right now it is not.

I paid $60 and beat the story (i.e. credits) in 2 weeks. Farming is actually best post game. Relationships are absolutely broken and even more so, boring and rewardless. Animal care and breeding is very broken. They just released patch 1.4 and it only caused more problems for a lot of people. I don't like to pay $60 to be a company's forever beta tester and get nothing in return. The story was fun for 2 weeks but this game honestly isn't even worth $30.

Have you ever played Sun Haven? It's an Indie farming sim/rpg hybrid on Steam with magic and adventuring so it's a similar niche to this and I'm very curious how it compares! It has much more robust romance options though and it's still being added to over time. But I see people saying they like the fantasy aesthetics of this game but the social parts are lacking, so Sun haven might be a good one to compare to it and see if people who are missing the social links would like that more.

i downloaded a non-legal copy of the game to test. didnt buy it. not worth 15 dollars

I bought it and want to play it but I am still working through another game. I've only played it long enough to unlock the ability to hard save.

The developers need to put this price point into better perspective... such as... $60 for this game where you can't even TURN the camera, compared to Baldurs Gate 3 (also $60) that is a full-fledged MMO. I did buy this game, and although it's pretty fun, it is NOT worth $60, IMO.

I was at a lost on how the game was $60 and only 1GB. I still got the game but it’s still pretty blan. Also I couldn’t save while in the tutorial part. I didn’t know that. Nothing was prompted and there was nothing. I figured auto save but that was my mistake and now I lost all my tutorial progress. If people are looking for a nice farming magical game then I suggest “Moonlight peaks”. (Releases for the switch are planned for next year though) I like your review. I’ve only put about 2-4 hours but the review feels very relatable, fair and honest. EDIT: so far I don’t hate the game. It’s nice. Peaceful to play late at night.

i actually like fae farm for that its not social with the npcs. i really hugely prefer that i honestly do not want to marry a little tamogachi lmfao. i feel strongly that the dlc is going to be us getting and using the wings for real perhaps it would make sense

This is the biggest cash grab I’ve seen from a farming sim in awhile! It looks worse than a mobile game let’s be honest here… It looks so… bland. Like the colors are so muted and the graphics are horrendous considering the price. The story is also mediocre and the characters are bland. It’s just all so BLAND!! WHERES THE FLAVA?! It needed to be WAYYY cheaper and polished more. So far it’s just a cash grab for desperate people wanting a new farming sim.

What does the extra 20$ give you on the steam version?
