First Impressions - Parker Vector XL 

Nice to see a good lower-cost pen. Enjoy seeing the evolution of a model, as companies change owners & direction. There are many value pens out there.

I am pleased you brought to our attention the Waterman Allure and the new Vector XL. To my eyes the Parker looks more attractive. I like the green body and the section appears comfortable to hold. Good to know the skipping has now stopped. I wonder if this means the older version of the Vector has now been discontinued? Thank you for an interesting review. I look forward to the next instalment.

The first Parker fountain pen I own which is pretty great for beginners.

I only discovered this model recently myself. I much prefer it over the standard Vector. Better size, more heft, gentler stepdown, better feel from a more substantial section, and the finishes are nice. I prefer the larger nib which, on mine, has a slight hint of bounce that the original tiny nail lacks. For the price, there's really nothing I dislike about the XL except possibly wanting a simple converter, but I have plenty of spares so that's not a deal breaker for me.

Lately Parker started moving in a right direction. They want to find the way to younger generations of pen lovers, focusing on their lower price segment. Since 2017 we've seen large expansion of Jotter and IM collections. Now is time to refresh the Vector product line.

Nice Video. Laughed out loud when you said 'I got some Parker junk on this end' about Her Majesty's Royal Warrant for Parker, not being a royalist myself. Yep its always a washable blue cart included and if you are lucky and spending more money on a parker you get a black thrown in as well. Oh the luxury of it! Seems to be the standard new nib design for most parker pens now. Interestingly my last three new Parkers have had that initial skipping problem so I'm guessing they have ditched a thorough cleaning of the nibs before fitting. Got to get me one of these now. Blast it. Waterman produce a matching Allure Ballpoint and Rollerball. Can't find the same for Parker. Do you have them in the US of A? I like to collect a whole set where possible even if I only use the FP.

mine just got delivered today! practically in tandem with a Squirrel Master vid... rad! we even got the same color (i got the fine nib tho, cuz i need that detail detail). 😎👑 i cleared out the blue ink and put in Birmingham Pen Co Antique Sepia. I love this shade in it. Love your content, man.

I was suppose to buy a Lamy but the store only had Parker Fountain pens. I was able to use a cartridge from Faber castell fountain pen.

I’m as surprised about the dissimilarity between Vector XL and the ‘regular’ Vector as I’m about the similarity between 88/Realto and the ‘regular’ Vector !

XL? Xtra long or Xtra large? Very zappy lime green. That clear section will take a bit of getting used to but it has its advantages.

Nice video. I really like the Parker Vector XL and ended up getting a few different colours. The green looks the best, especially with Parker Quink Red in it :)

Went through many Vectors in the nineties. Hope this one is sturdier. The larger nib and section look like a nice upgrade from the old. How well does it post?

I don't like the old vector, so this one definitely looks like an improvement with the larger nub and section.

Hi. Where did you buy this? I have the blue & purple. I can not find the green anywhere.

What is XL about it ? I suffer from the condition of what is known as sausage fingers and ham hands . I was hoping this was going to be a vector upsized . I have an old vector from the 80's i like but it is just too small to be an edc pen for me .

Why many pens skip writting!( Including the Branded Ones)!

The skipping is a problem with this pen, I have it and from the begging and after 10 months and cleaning it 3 times already, it’s still skipping. I have the F nib though, not the M. I’m looking to replace it, anybody has any suggestions?

Is Converter Available for this pen?

I'd be all over a fatter, plastic-sectioned vector if it wasn't for the fact that glittery body finishes turn me off. I'm still considering it, though.

I have bought a Parker Vector XL fountain pen 6 months ago. It is a very bad nib. I really do not recommend anyone to by it. specially the medium nib which I have bought. it is too wide and does not write smoothly. The nib widens and opens its gap. It does actually stretch its nib ends when you write. I found it not reliable in writing.

Definitely bigger; but looks cheap.
