The Seiko looks very nice but the Omega Seamaster is the King of Kings for Divers ❤️ I have boths and the Omega is a way better, but 600$ against 6k...
I have the save the ocean manta ray turtle & since i bought it, have been wearing it more than my sub! That dial omg is so mesmerising. I am now contemplating getting the samurai with the same dial. This is Seiko’s best divers dial for me.
@@sobeit712 i already bought the samurai & am now wearing this & the turtle on alternate days. Even though both watches hv the same dial, i feel that the samurai’s dial has more depth & more 3D under direct sunlight. Anyway, awesome dials there Seiko has designed for their affordable dive watches.
I've been looking at the SRPF791 for months, but this is the review that caused me to buy this watch, including the Hexad bracelet from Strapcode. The blue silicone strap for the summer, the steel bracelet for the colder days. It's part of my daily rotation that includes way more expensive watches, but I enjoy this one like crazy! I love what Seiko did with that dial. Man, it's amazing, and I just can't stop looking at it. Thanks for the review, thanks for giving me that last little push I needed to buy this watch. LOVE IT!!!
Seiko knocked it out of the park with this one. The darker blue is so cool and calming when I look at it. Also this dark tone makes the watch more versatile.
I just got this watch a week ago to have something while my 5 year old Bluemo is being serviced and upgraded. This Save the Ocean "Dark Manta" Samurai is way better looking than my Bluemo. However the blue strap is a bit of a let down. And the movement is also a lower grade than the Bluemo. But it is surprisingly accurate so far. +/- 10-20 sec per day. I will 2nd the Crafter Blue rubber strap. I bought it for my Bluemo and I love it. I will probably get one for this Samurai as well. Black goes with everything. Just not a bracelet guy.
This is a great looking watch. I have this and constantly have to admire it when I wear it, and I'm beyond the honeymoon period. I think your strapcode bracelet is a great idea I'll be getting one for mine
I just received it today. The dial is quite amazing. Quite a chunky watch but wears well on my 6.25 inch wrist. It may just be my way of justifying keeping it. The steel strap keeper seems to be digging into my skin but not too uncomfortable.
Just received my king samurai on the blue strap. I echo all your thoughts, ceramic bezel is immaculate and the finish overall is punching way above the price point. Great video
I've waited over a year before I pulled the trigger on this watch. Meanwhile I bought and sold many other watches, this one kept eluding me. I finally bought it and it far exceeded my expectation even though I already have high expectation on this watch. I had a King Turtle before and that watch was almost a perfect watch for me but I sold it eventually. This King Samurai is even better. I will be getting the Hexad bracelet soon.
Really good looking wacth i own two seiko Samurais one black and the other Is orange running also on the 4r35 movement time keeping is pretty good ! Thanks for your review...
which one is better Tissot T-Sport Seastar 1000 Powermatic 80 Blue Dial Black Rubber or Seiko Prospex SPB125J1 Automatic Black Series? and what is the price of the item
Good video. Thank you. I just wanted to point out that strapcode released a bracelet specifically compatible with the king samurai (model SS221817B156). The one you link in the video description is the previous version, SS221820B066
I have a Seiko Turtle save the ocean all black edition. Looking at this review made me really want that watch too as I believe it will wear well! Beautiful dial with unique case shape! How much was the strapcode bracelet?
Having owned smaller watches, and since the video upload, have you been wearing often Samurai with the hexad bracelet? I have been thinking of getting either the hexad bracelet, or seiko original rubber strap for my manta ray 33.
OK, so it's the case and not the bezel that is angled, but the overall effect looks quite similar to my Omega Seamaster (2002 model) and it's probably a lot sturdier and certainly a heck of a lot cheaper. I've had to service my Omega at about €300 a throw roughly every four years since I bought it new, the crown thread wears out and the sleeves rot on the bracelet, which means the pins end up falling out. Due to this I almost lost my watch years ago on a motorcycle tour of the Pyrenees when a bracelet pin fell out and the watch, thank God, fell into the cuff of my glove. I know the bracelet you have put on your Samurai isn't Seiko original but even if the same happened, at least you wouldn't lose several thousand dollars' worth of watch. Good purchase, buddy. Enjoy it for many years.
Thanks, Eddy. I love the look and design of the Seamaster as well, but can certainly sympathize with the cost burden of servicing it and the worry of losing something so expensive. Thank God for your glove cuff! I am enjoying the Samurai - it's holding up well so far. And I would absolutely be enjoying a Seamaster like yours if I owned one as well! Hope yours stays safe.
I myself own 2 samurais (sbdy029 and sbdy021) prior to my new one, the light blue manta (sbdy065) and looking at the dark manta I can tell you frankly that it might be way far to compare to a Patek Philippe nautilus but it can Definitely stand toe to toe to a an Omega or even Rolex if you look at what they all have to offer and Seiko because of the price is the big winner for me. 😊
Ha, I was definitely making that comparison with tongue planted firmly in cheek. Blue dial, plus the unique case style is why I thought of that. Certainly not putting them on the same level, though.
is this model available on silicone strap only? It's a little strange that the brighter blue manta ray version is available on the factory bracelet and this one is not
And they say it looks better in person? Wow, just wow. What I like about this watch is it has dimensions to it beyond just its good looks. The faint little rays as symbols of the 'Save The Ocean' theme and it's association with Jacques Cousteau. Who didn't grow up watching 'The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau with Rod Sterling narrating? Plus a Special Addition only made for one year. When someone comments 'What a beautiful watch' you have plenty to tell them about it. Plus a dash of Virtue Signaling with the Save The Ocean donation....lol. This is the kind of thing that takes it beyond just overpriced bling bling.
I have this watch too along with my SRPE39. Love them both but prefer the Turtle. I am looking to get a metal bracelet for my Samurai dark manta, where did you get that metal bracelet? looks very sweet.
@@froesei thank you so much for the link! It does indeed look quite nice and I think the design of the bracelet really matches perfectly with the Samurai. Both the dark and the light Manta are keeping excellent time. +and- 5 seconds for me. I love the fact too that they say Made in Japan on their dials and back case.
Hi@@froesei, since Strapcode Hexad is a bit too pricey for me, I saw a different brand named Islander which is 2/3 the cost of Strapcode brand. Seems very similar in terms of build and material quality compared with Strapcode. Although Islander Clasp is a bit different as it's a tad smaller in size. Would you recommend to select a brand other than Strapcode? Thanks in advance.
Hello, watches are great, I'm thinking of buying them. Will you be so kind as to write me where I can buy your amazing metal strap for Seiko Manta ray? Thank you in advance for your reply. Robert
I do love it, the dial is still one of my favourites. But coincidentally I'm considering selling it right now, as I need to "thin the herd", haha. Are you thinking of picking one up?
Thanks! My wrist is approximately 6.75 inches. The Samurai sits extremely well despite its case dimensions, and the bracelet has a great feel to it. Very comfortable, and solid.
@@froesei Thanks. I have had samurai before and sold it however I want the manta ray from your video together with strap code bracelet that you purchased. I was just afraid that it may be too big. However looking how it looks at your wrist and mine big slightly bigger at 7inch I’m comfortable buying it. Thanks for response and great quality video review.
@@froesei hello again. I bought the seiko( love it ) and bought same strap code bracelet. Pro of the bracelet are: love the finish, screw down links are great, overall looks great. The cons however are: it’s a bit too much rattle for my taste, the bracelet doesn’t flush with the watch when attaching to the case( not a lot but still bit annoying) it also moves a bit at the connection. But the biggest complaint is the inside of the clasp. The parts of the clasp are not entirely brushed. At some point the brush finish stops and bare metal continues. It looks horrible. On top of that inside of the clasp where micro adjustments are there is some sort of a stain. How is your clasp finish and connection with watch case?? Love the case but these few thing are very annoying given the price for the bracket. Thanks
@@froesei thanks mate after I posted comment I found the SBDY (JDM?) on Seiya Japan? www.seiyajapan.com/collections/seiko/products/seiko-prospex-200m-diver-automatic-sbdy065-made-in-japan-ceramic-bezel-sapphire-crystal. Enjoy the samurai mate!!! I currently have the srpc07 the orange samurai love the samurai so much ! Also having 3 turtles srp777,775 and srpc23
Yes, that is indeed the JDM model, but the one you've found is the lighter blue dial, the equivalent of the srpe33. Just FYI in case you didn't realize!
just bought one myself complete with the hexad bracelet, let me tell you that it will be one of the best buys ever made. Extremely satisfied with it, masculine, chunky, hefty, but still flashy, perfect dress dive casual watch, perfect submariner alternative for those with 6.5 inch wrists and above. Many thanks to this channel for showing this marvelous creation by seiko and the custom bracelets. the best value on offer at this price point. Bought this watch precisely because of this video. thank you Froesei!
Are you asking if I replaced the original strap "with" a steel band? Sorry if I'm misinterpreting your question - but yes, the steel bracelet is a 3rd party bracelet from Strapcode designed to fit this watch and it looks great with it.
Islander 22mm Brushed Solid-Link Watch Bracelet for Islander ISL-26, 27, 28 and Seiko Samurai Watches Curved End #BRAC-02 Brand: Islander Product Code: BRAC-02 Average Rating: Just picked this up for my seiko samurai.
The lume is very bright but lasts 5 minutes. It gains 20 seconds per day which is poor performance. The design is gorgeous. I love the looks of mine. Performance of my Casio Oceanus T200 is better. Thank you for the video. Post script, I don't like the Nautilus at all.
@@Flip5ide Yes, everything is very well aligned. You can probably see that in the video. But that is just my particular watch, so I couldn't speak for other ones specifically.
@@froesei thanks, yeah i like other watch I'm going to try one on tomorrow to see how it fits, I'm super particular so if the one I try on is right I might just get it there and then, if not I'm not sure I can be bothered with the Seiko lottery lol
This watch is to heavy to wear daily on the bracelet for me. Also it doesnt help their bracelets are substandard across the whole brand.I feel its made to be worn on a rubber.
Although I do love the watch as is, I wouldn't be opposed to a smaller version of both the Samurai and the Sumo as an option. Maybe someday, or at least something similar.
