Hahaha I have the exact same problem, I always feel like business class on other airlines isn't up to scratch when really it's just that Qatar is so good.
I used to be an Emirates only guy, until I was forced to get a Qatar business class flight when mine was cancelled. I flew to Sydney and let's just say I won't be flying Emirates no more 😂 I'm no airline snob aka Noel Philips, but I really like the little touches that Qatar do, such as no tray service, all cutlery and plates neatly laid out. Full amenity and pjs etc all welcome as was the offer of a turn down service with no need for me to request it. These tiny finishes make a flight so much more pleasant. And the Q Suite, what can I say about that, just 100%. Lounge is 17:49 fabulous, and the dedicated no queue immigration lounge was a nice surprise. As for cost, Qatar are dearer than run of the mill airlines, but are cheaper than Emirates. And whilst I don't mind the Emirates ostentatious gold bling which they thrust in your face, I do prefer the cool purple Qatar colour scheme. I think it's the first time I've ever been pleased to have my flight cancelled, otherwise I wouldn't have been introduced to Q suites! I don't know if Qatar do a chauffeur service pickup from home to airport as Emirates do, because I was already at the airport when my plane went tech. If they do that's great, but if not it's no deal breaker, as let's face it, the chauffeur service is little more than a decent taxi service in a newish car. See, I told you I'm no airline snob 😊
Underrated channel. Great video as always. Really high quality. Keep up the good work. I like that you show the check in as well as the lounge on the ground.
As always, amazing review. Everything about this experience says First Class to me (not that I've experienced it!), from the lounges to the onboard dining, not just the food but the amazing presentation. Hope you enjoyed your time in Doha and I look forward to seeing the next flight, even if I just get to *watch* the cocktails, rather than experiencing them first hand. :-) Cheers, Yann. I always look forward to one of your reviews coming up in my notifications.
Thanks again, appreciate the kind words man! Qatar definitely do it the best in business class in my opinion, particularly if you get Qsuite. It was only a short visit to Doha but enjoyed the climate being a bit cooler, last time I visited the temperature was 47°C!
Seats in row 1 have slightly less leg room, so you can sacrifice the legroom for the prestige of row 1, or enjoy an extra few cm further down the cabin
I honestly thought the soup and everything before was the starter but turns out nope. N then after all that came Biryani!!! WHAT??? N wjete do u put all that food? Ur genetically blessed!
I was struggling towards the end to cram everything in but wanted to show the full meal offering. No need to eat for the rest of the day after a flight like this!
I've definitely had leather bags from non Doha departures, but that was over a year ago so maybe it has changed. And thanks for watching again, I appreciate it!
Make sure you check that your flight has Qsuite when booking. I'd also recommend flying business on the A380 - it doesn't have Qsuite but it does have the onboard bar which is quite a novel experience and a great place to spend time. Whatever you go for, I hope you enjoy it!
I think his complaints were around the experience in economy class. I've only flown Qatar economy on the top deck of the A380 and I've always found that to be a good experience. Of course with so many different factors, everyone will have a different experience and opinion.
Thank you! I've never had any issues flying rear-facing, I don't notice the difference. It feels slightly different when taking off and landing but apart from that everything else is the same.
Funny you should ask as every time I choose any “true window seat” in QSuite the check-in agent asks me, without fail, if I’m aware I’m in a rear facing seat and would I like to change? I smile and politely decline.😊
Business class travel with a first class price tag .. it’s not surprising they can afford to lay on all the extra touches .. last time I flew business class , I paid about $2200 for a return ticket from London to Bangkok on EVA Air , which is also a great airline , but they don’t add on as many frills .. $4000 for a one way ticket to Doha ? No way … 🙏
Yeah you definitely pay for all of the extras, that's for sure! Like you said, you can fly business with other carriers in the $2000ish range - this is usually the value I aim for spending cash on a flight otherwise I'll try to get it using points (if available).
Congratulations on your channel - I think you have a bright future ahead of you as a RU-vidr and could be another TrekTrendy in the making! Keep up the good work…off now to fine your Qatar 1st class video!
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I've got a few more videos in the works so keep in tune. The Qatar First Class was a great experience so definitely check that out!
Such a good review! Clear, concise and extremely informative. I'm absolutely loving the content that you're producing on this channel. Well done - keep it coming Yann! :)
So many times a vlogger says `like and subscribe` however yours is one of the first travel channels i have followed. Really enjoy your clips, and man you love your champange? lol
I do get hungry after a flight, my ideal meal is a cheeseburger 🍔. Quarter pounder after a flight. But I guess you won't need to eat a burger after this flight 😆
I will definitely be using Qatar to travel to Asia next time I am due to got that way. Didn't realise you could redeem with AVIOS which makes it even better. I have around 100k AVIOS as we speak. Much better value than paying cash.
Flying with Qatar is my favourite way to get to Asia from Europe. Qatar recently adopted Avios as their points currency and you can freely transfer your balance between your BA and Qatar accounts. Have a great trip!
Love your reviews and style! I flew QR last weekend FCO-DOH-DPS and both A350's were the old business product so wasn't able to enjoy Q-suites this trip. The service was generally very good on both flights but the catering out of FCO was incredible, including lobster thermidor 10/10.
Thanks - glad you're enjoying them! I flew the old business seat on an A350 to CPT and had a great experience. The dining and service is the same and despite the lack of privacy on the old seats, you do get a sense of space. I also love the middle section in the business cabin on the A350 with space to walk around, stretch and a counter with drinks and snacks.
Congrats with you Vlog Journey. Keep it up! I often fly with Qatar Business class. Qsuite is nice to experience but it can be warm when you sit in the middle specially when you enjoy some of their Champagne or Port Wine and Cheese or Chocolates :D :D Cabin crew are amazing too.
Thank you! Yeah I often get quite hot when flying in Qsuite especially if I fall asleep in my regular clothes after consuming too much champagne like you say!
Just flew from Johannesburg to Doha and Doha to LA in QSuite and was blown away. Next time I’ll have to route through Heathrow. Food, service and memories are all top notch!
Awesome review. I’ve recently flown Qatar business and despite the recent bad reviews from the other RU-vidrs, I too have had a great experience. Looking forward to your next review!
Yeah exactly, the middle seats have a privacy divider which can be lowered for couples and you can even make a double bed! There's also the option to lower another divider for a quad setup if you're with family or friends.
