BLACKPINK is the first and only kpop group to have an official and complete performance at *COACHELLA* (the world's largest music festival) and their performance was so good that it is listed as one of the best in the festival's 20-year history.
Ohh boy!! You’ve just fallen down the rabbit hole of BlackPink & Kpop in general. Strap in RR, yr gonna enjoy this ride. 👍🏽🔥💜 they were my 2nd kpop experience & I haven’t been the same since.. even if you don’t understand the language fully you will like so many others fall in love with it!😍
That was a phenomenon I did not know existed until I watched this and the KTL MV. 3 weeks later my entire YT algorithm is nothing but BP. It's a black hole at this point and there is no end in sight for me. So much content and now Lalisa is about to drop another bomb...
Blackpink actually has a whole song in English! It definitely has a pop/rnb vibe that you would hear in North America, there is no music video but there is a lyric video! Please react to it, it’s called “love to hate me” I think you will love it :) Edit: guys ik they have more English songs but LTHM is my favourite so I recommend it. I also think the line distribution and style of the song is best for a first impression of an English song by them
Actually on the album The Album they have 4 songs in English and 4 songs in Korean. An do not forget Rosies Album R both songs are in English cause of her Aussie background.
DDU DU DDU DU of "BLACKPINK" was the first song by a kpop group to reach one billion views on RU-vid and is currently the song of a kpop group with the most views in history, currently BLACKPINK already has 4 songs with more of a trillion views
This is my first KPop experience as well. I am reminded a little bit of the days when Britney Spears first came out. Good girl showing us the wild side. I am open to trying out all sorts of different music styles, and this certainly wasn't bad. I enjoyed your reaction to this very much too!
You nailed the black and pink concepts. They have lighter more poppy songs and others that are right in your face. The other thing is duality. Off stage in behind the scenes stuff they are really sweet and down to earth, but when it's time to perform, they flip that switch and perform their asses off.
Gangnam Style wasn't really considered as mainstream kpop. BUT it was iconic as hell and I was already very into all things kpop even before Gangnam Style was released, so I streamed it like crazy so it would break the 1billion mark first. But speaking of iconic, this song is probably the most iconic kpop out right now. Blackpink changes kpop with everything they do. 🔥
Lisa - Born and raised in Bangkok, Thailand. Rose - Born in Auckland, New Zealand, and Raised in Melbourne, Australia. Jennie - Born in South Korea, Grew up in Auckland, New Zealand, and then moved back to South Korea. Jisoo - Born and raised in South Korea.
Welcome to Blackpink, bestie!! If you’re into the rebellious women vibe, THIS IS THE GROUP FOR YOU!! Blackpink is all about bad bitches anthems and female empowerment, we love it! Also, JENNIE is the girlie that came in rapping a fire storm on top of the bedazzled tank and she’s a proper baddie! A dope rapper and also a super strong vocalist too, which is super hard to find (someone who excels at both positions like this), and not to mention STUNNING! JENNIE is >>>>>>
Welcome! I hope all of the Blinks (Blackpink fans) are good to you. This was their first M/V to crack 1B views, but 3 of their others have as well. And one other is closing in on 950M after just 14 months. They only have 10 official music videos. They have done collabs with Dua Lipa, Lady Gaga, Selena Gomez, and Cardi B. They have a few songs which are similar in style to this, but also do more bubblegum pop ("Ice Cream" or "As If It's Your Last") and ballads ("Stay" or "You Never Know"). Their producer, Teddy Park, is known for mixing musical styles and taking songs in unexpected directions. Two of the members have solo songs already: Jennie with "Solo" and Rosé with "Gone" and "On The Ground". And Lisa's solo project is due any day now. And all of their videos (except one of their 2 debut songs) are done with practical sets, not green screen or CGI. Most importantly, all 4 are talented, smart, funny, and generous women. If you want to check out something completely different that highlights their talent, try their live cover of Miguel's "Sure Thing". Enjoy your journey!
There's far, far more than just upbeat hype songs in kpop. Pretty much every genre under the sun outside of like, super experimental stuff. Often multiple genres within one song.
she speaks so calmly that I could listen to her talk for hours and hours. and btw, watch them in the coachella and the lilis film, besides the mvs of course.
I went from losing interest in music to discovering K-pop to getting hooked on it again. I credit K-pop for me discovering Billie Eilish in my old age.
i hope you react more to them, they are the biggest girl group in the world now, i recommend: Kill This Love, How You Like That, Pretty Savage (color coded lyrics), their duo debut songs Whistle and Boombayah, and Jennie's 'SOLO' :D
You just hit the tiiiip of the ice berg of Kpop, Krap, Khiphop etc. I've been down the rabbit role for the last two years lol. PS You're a lovely person. I enjoyed your reaction. Peace from Canada!!
been obsessed with them for a couple months. watched the Netflix documentary. they seem like such sweet girls in person and total bad asses in these music videos. they are amazing with the transitions between slow pop singing and the fast rap. the EDM type music makes it such a bop. i can't get over the outfits either.
Pretty much every K-Pop group has at least one rapper. Even ballads will have rap verses. I listen to primarily K-Pop and have for the last 8 or so years. I throw in some Japanese rock/metal every once in a while for something heavier. K-Pop has many different genres rolled into one. You'll find Rap, Hip-hop, R&B, Blues, Rock, and of course Pop. I don't even speak Korean and I enjoy it more than pretty much all other styles.
I loved your reaction! If you’re planning on doing more blackpink, I suggest BOOMBAYAH, whistle, how you like that, or lovesick girls! If you ever get interested in getting to know the members, you should take a look at their interviews, like their GMA interview, and the crack guide to blackpink 2020!
I never knew anything about KPop and last year somehow someone's reaction video for "How You Like That" was in my recommended videos. The rest was history. I really love Black Pink and KDA.
Yo welcome to the kpop fandoms!! There is a boygroup called *Stray Kids* that just came out with a song *Thunderous* that is trending all over the world, if you love this, you may love them as well!!! On your next videos, do check their MV + Live Performance as well!! u'll be amazed how great they sing and dance at the same time, *live!!!*
what a great first song to pick!!! they're most iconic girl group with the sickest songs. also gotta say you are absolutely stunning and I love your voice omgggg
You chose wisely your first ever kpop song. Keep on with Blackpink, they got banger after banger. It's difficult not going down the kpop's rabbit hole. Blackpink was also my introduction and now I'm stanning like half the kpop industry.
I'm not too sure but from your past reactions I can tell that you'll probably love "Louder than bombs" by BTS, it's not pop at all tho haha it's very dark and melodic, I could be wrong but I hope you enjoy :)
Thanks for your reaction. Welcome to the Blackpink party. In this song BP aren't putting on a "We are Bad Bitches" song (although they are that), here BP are talking smack to their haters ("What you say doesn't faze me" "I give it to them straight don't care what people think"), in response to hate directed at them. On the chorus, they are gunning down their haters (DDu Du DDu Du are gunshots, and their hands are guns going off). You appeared to miss the symbolism of Jisoo tripping and falling. At the beginning, all the men were admiring and showing adoration to her perfect image on the wall, seemingly uncaring who she was in real life, even though she was standing right there. Only when she stumbled and fell (symbolizing more than just a physical fall, but possibly a personal issue or some type of scandal) do they focus on the real person. However, instead of trying to help her up they turn into faceless assassins (they have ski masks on, like faceless internet trolls and social media netizens) and now have their camera guns (see they have actual pistol grips) pointed at her as weapons to finish her off at the time of weakness. But it closes with her standing back up, proud and strong in the face of the onslaught. There have been many idol suicides in recent years driven by online and social media hatred and criticism. Here BP is giving the haters a middle finger saying they won't be meek little girls hiding under the covers when hatred comes their way. After their debut and before this MV each of the girls faced hatred, most notably racists attacks against Lisa for being Thai instead of Korean. We have all been conditioned to expect stupid meaningless superficial over-sexualized pop videos in the US ("WAP"), but watching a BP MV (or BTS MV) requires more insightful analysis if you have an interest in what the artists are trying to communicate. Blackpink goes deep into Freudian psychology symbolism and Greek and Roman mythological symbolism in many of their videos (most notably Kill This Love and How You Like That). There are RU-vid videos going scene by scene explaining this symbolism (see the English Priest reacts to Kill This Love and How You Like That, where a Cambridge University graduate who majored in Greek Classism does the analysis). So, you may want to keep an eye out to spot the deeper symbolism. Or not, since I loved their music before understanding any of the deep messaging in their MVs. But, the depth is there if you are seeking that in your music.
Girl!! if you fall into K-pop there is no coming back lol I fell into this whole new I universe last year at 29yo Beside the music itself, is pure SHOW: sick choreos (specially boys groups), outfits, makeup, AMAZING video clips. I MEAN, come on. That's what I wanna see when I talk about ENTERTAINMENT
Great reaction. This is my first time in your channel and i really enjoy your personality. I think you understand the BlackPnk concept right away. Black and Pink, been the Pink the femenine and cute side but that's not all there is the black too, the fierce and rebelious side. I hope you can do some more Black Pink in the near future, i think you would enjoy this. BlackPink has four members: Jennie: the first to sing and the one who rap fast sitting on top of a tank Lisa: the first one who raps with the katana sword. Rosé: red hair, sweet deep voice Jisoo: with the umbrella and fire scene. More husky voice...she is my bias (favourite one) BlackPink is the biggest girl group in the world right now, they have collabs with Dua Lipa, Lady Gaga, Selena Gomez and Cardi B. If you decide to go the BlackPink road i suggest you do it with the songs with MVs first so you get use to their faces and voices. They have 2 debut songs each one with an MV. They release both songs the same day at the same time. This is the list i suggest to start: 1. Whistle 2. Boombayah...only KPop debut with more than 1B views 3. Playing with fire 4. Stay ...their first slow song 5. As if it's your last...this song it is their only Pink side song, they usually mix their pink and black sides 6. Ddu du ddu du...You already did this one. The haters will never accept this but this song broke the industry when it was released and it was the game changer for BlackPink and the whole Kpop industry as well. 7. Kill this love 8. How you like that...this song had more than 84M views in it's first 24 hours, it broke 5 Guinnes Records 9. Ice Cream (with Selena Gomez)...Ariana Grande is one of the writers of this song. Pay very good attention to the lirycs hahaha Sadly you wont see a scence of BlackPink and Selena together because this was film last year and because of COVID Selena had to shoot in LA and the Pinks in South Korea 10. Lovesick Girls...this is their last MV so far. It was released October 2nd 2020 along with their first full studio album The Album (yeah, i know) So far Jennie and Rosé (it's pronounce like the wine) are the only two members who had released solo songs and Lisa's solo is about to be release this month or next one. I recommend for you to react to their MVs as well: 11. Jennie - SOLO...it is the only KPOP solo female song to reach 700M (so far) views in RU-vid 12. Rosé - On the ground 13. Rosé - Gone After Lisa's solo will come Jisoo's solo but no right away. Jisoo is an actress as well and she hab been shooting her first lead role in a kdrama, Snowdrop. That kdrama may be airing in the next few months because they end shooting last month. There are more songs but i think you can start with this. The other songs don´t have MVs but you can check their colored lyrics videos so you can know what they're singing about and you can check later some dance practice or live performance. Sorry for my english but i'm peruavian so i speak spanish and i don't usually write in english. I hope to see more reactions to BlackPink in your channel. I'll give you a follow right now,
First of all, great choice for a reaction! :D And I know that may be super random but you have the kindest sounding voice, no joke! You should do ASMR :P
BLACKPINK is so big that his RU-vid channel with *64 MILLION SUBSCRIBERS* is the second channel of an artist with the most subscribers on the planet, it is only surpassed in subscribers by Justin Bieber's channel but BLACKPINK is already surpassing it.
I've been a fan of blackpink for a whole year now, their amazing and each one of them is talented in their own way😁 my current favorite song is Kill this love :)
You literally got their concept after just 1 video. That's precisely what Blackpink means. So, all over the world there's this stereotype that badass woman aren't very feminine, but Blackpink wants to show that they can be both strong and feminine. Take pink and make it darker. That's Blackpink :)
Thank you for reacting to this. I love how you understand the concept perfectly. I would love to see you react to some more Kpop groups. Some recommendations would be BTS, Blackpink (of course their other songs), Red Velvet (Psycho is a masterpiece), DreamCatcher, Everglow, TXT, Seventeen, NCT, Oh My Girl (my personal favorite is Closer), SNSD they are a 2nd generation group, but are very widely known as legends within the kpop community and in South Korea plus I miss people reacting to their videos so it’d be nice to see again. Even if these don’t get a reaction video I would love to see more reaction videos of Kpop in general:)
LOVED your reaction! You also nailed the meaning of the name BLACKPINK. The name BLACKPINK is meant to contradict the common perception of the color pink. Pink has always meant to signify prettiness, BLACKPINK means to say that women can be Fierce and Swag (BLACK) while also being pretty and Feminine (PINK).
BLACKPINK is the Biggest girl group on the planet, and with more than 30 billion views between RU-vid and Spotify alone (not counting the other streaming platforms) BLACKPINK is by far the most listened to girl group in the entire history of music and that. who only have a 5-year musical career, that's how strong BLACKPINK's level is.
So happy you liked it, love! I think you'd really enjoy How you like that, too. And Kill this love, Pretty savage(the lyrics), Love to hate me and Crazy over you (both are in English), between many others. XO
