Also please don't take an RS and make 2-3 mods but take a base carrera and make it yours, would love to see this! They really are amazing and give a lot of driving pleasure :)

Air cooled engines are great for recreational vehicles. I've got an air cooled 101cc 2 stroke Yamaha scooter with a bunch of Malossi transmission mods, ghetto rear brake upgrade and Savva slicks that rips balls up to 110kph 😅 I've got the variator and clutch set up for short course work, backing into corners like a super moto type of schtick. Loads of fun and no worries because it's an air cooled auto lube 2 stroke. Got a chunk of foam under the seat and a spare bottle of Maxima castor based 2 stroke oil jammed in the foam - that's as far as the worries go, making sure there's spare oil 😀👍🏼🇿🇦

They are indeed great cars, not the fastest but in terms of smiles per mile, nothin will come close, when the revs hit 4.5k rpm you are done simple as that. You won’t want to stop driving the car. I drove mine around France 2214k miles in august 2022. Even my Mrs was in awe and renamed her the “Beast” when we got back to blighty. They are brutally tough cars, very unrelentingly rugged and stupendously well built. Driving on the track I don’t know about, but I toured around Europe in mine, Spain, France 5 years straight and they savour a beating, and beat it hard you will and it will just take it like a champ. It’s a car that simply won’t fail like a top of the range Swiss watch, ROBUST will be in your vocabulary every time, oh did I mention the sound at 4.5k rpm, GOD forbid you put in ITB’s and RS airbox well set up suspend (as I have done) etc you will have the best sounding car on earth guaranteed. 🙏🏿

The same reason I didn't turbo my mk4 R32, I simply enjoy the ability to stomp the throttle to the floor while in a turn/exiting a turn. The ease of being able to drive it fast is undervalued, more fun driving, less anxious driving!

I think with that car if the motor was taken out and worked on with respects to blueprinting it and really getting everything balanced right and then revving nice and fast and high it would make much more sense. You probably wouldn’t get huge power gains but it would absolutely sing and still have a very very usable power band.

Haha! Great to see and hear that you both like the 993! Slightly modified 964/993 models are very rewarding on the track and there is so much stuff you can do over time to tweak them. But Misha, you need to practice on your toe/heel :-) Otherwise, when you start pushing, the rear can easily overtake you if you don't revmatch when breaking hard. I try to manage it in my 964. If nothing else it saves the gearbox and sounds great 👍

So you mentioned a 4.0l and light weight fly wheel. Has the owner considered a final drive? I know it sounds silly but those cars suffer from the same issue as the Boxster and Cayman, long gear not enough power syndrome. Could definitely make the car more lively without adding power, or maybe a 4.0l with a final drive 👀

will you switch to a shorter gearbox set up? I had the impression that sometimes was difficult to chose the right gear because it was either too short or too long...

nice cool lap, finally seeing both together in a car just cruising, not really pushing. other thing i wanted to comment about misha's m5..its just 2 simple things; how long do u wanna keep the car-meaning what mods can u put on it, besides sreten restoring it the best he can, so they last for a while. and 2nd how quickly can u obtain a 2nd one, if u can want to keep it stock, since u mentioned that it took a while to source one. so they dont really pop up on every corner for sale. i personally would restore it and upgrade a little bit, to modern standards so it can become daily, but then see how it preforms and what can u do next, since its quite old. (which is a good thing imo for such a vehicle). cheers, thumbs up!

Excellent lap. Do you find the car difficult to heel and toe? I find it hard to do in my 964 because of the pedal placement (super tight in a RHD car).

How long between rebuits/heads.....had a 993 C4S with a turbo widebody kit, coils, cae....so sort of similar....and I was always concernced about the engine's durability. TIA
