Here is a little glimpse of a first lesson with a new dog. This dog has many fears and insecurities and was previously treated harshly by another trainer. Also this dog was introduced to the e collar in a harsh way and a very wrong way. Today we start turning that all around

That young lady should be very proud of herself she has obviously done some remarkable work with a dog that had been shuffled around all over the place. Good job Larry for showing this story.

Hearing when you’re marking is INCREDIBLY helpful!!! I’m trying to do as much research as possible before introducing the ecollar to my pup. This was SO helpful! I’d love to be able to hear when you’re using the ecollar more in other situations other than learning recall. Thanks for all you do!

This was amazing to watch! Can’t wait to see this boy’s progress. The world needs more dog owners like Kacey 😀 Another great way to build confidence in a herding dog is to find a ranch dog trainer, and let them herd. It’s astounding how quickly the fear disappears when pure instinct kicks in.

I follow several different dog trainers and I sometimes get my quotes mixed up, so the one that applies here might have come from you anyways. It is so important to BUILD a dog UP, instead of BREAKING them DOWN. What is shown in this video is a great example of such principles at work.

I absolutely love how supportive and encouraging you are! What a great trainer! Just subscribed. I will be introducing an E-collar to two dogs coming up soon, but I want to learn how to do it properly first! One has had a bad experience, so this is PERFECT! THANK YOU for sharing!

Thank you for sharing this informative video. I'm a Vet Tech... But was hurt @ work in 2013. I'm not a dog trainer by any means... But I do have basic commands knowledge. I adopted a Black Lab mix named Paisley. She is very smart & a quick Lerner. However, she likes to run away every chance she can slip out the door or wiggle out of collar. I should mention, I'm a full-time Rv'er. I cannot run after her because of three knee injuries. I adopted her at three months old in November 2019. She is nine months old now & I'm worried that she will not be able to be qualified for a PTSD dog. I was diagnosed 13 years ago & have waited a long time to buy my Rv & adopt my. Forever dog & in hope in the future to have Us train at a PTSD Facility. You have inspired me so much... With tears of Deep Gratitude to have found your videos because I feel a brand new Hope!! Gratefully your new friend, Dawn a.k.a Sunshine. 🌞 & Pup Pup Paisley🐾🐾

Well done Larry . Great young lady to work with as she really has done well. I loathe that some trainers use remote collars as a punishment on far to high a level. Stunning looking dog. Looking forward to seeing more of this dog . Thank you : )

Love your videos. You are really helping me out with my dogs. Thanks so much for all these videos. Especially with using the e-collar! I just purchased one ( Educator mini ) and haven’t used it yet because of my inexperience with them. Really wish we had a decent trainer in my area. I Always have a concern with having my dog in an abusive situation with an ill informed trainer. I see it all time, and like the dog in this video, I would really REALLY be pissed and upset if my dog came back from training cowed from being bullied and browbeaten. My only issue has nothing to do with your training techniques. It’s is the wind noise! Thanks again for the help.

We’ve had a rescue jack russell(7 years old) for about 2 years now. He’s so protective of my gf. Will stay by her side all the time. The problem is when I go in the same area ears go back and he wants to be protective. Has come after me. Now he is in a bad bad habit of “chasing” me out the door if I’m going to work or if I am going out of his sight up the stairs etc. How can I use an E-Collar to correct this but not make it negative. Or is that not possible. ?

@Larry Krohn ...have you ever trained a bull terrier. My bull terrier was very very stubborn. I am a person who just has a loud voice. Whenever she would do something i didnt like id say "No!" In a stern tone. Now that she is a year...she comes ...stays...heels..and can be takin on walks bike rides in a very busy downtown (LA) with leash. But every time i walk up be hind her or approach her rapidly she cowers and pins back ears like im going to hit her or something and ive never hit her or any dog in my entire lifevsave my grandmothers boxer when i was 13 because he literally at my homework. Any advice would be appreciated
@Weirdanimalboy
@Weirdanimalboy 6 лет назад
It's possible that she isn't cowering. She's just showing typical canine submissive behavior. Puppies will display this behavior to most adult dogs, paired with intense lip licking and sometimes submissive urination. Most dogs grow out of this, and their submissive displays are a lot more mild. But some dogs, typically spaniel types, can retain this into adulthood and even go unnecessarily overboard. A submissive dog isn't necessarily scared, they're just saying "Hey now, I'm not looking to call the shots right now. I'm not a threat to you, so you don't have to be a threat to me". Here's a good video displaying such behavior between a puppy and several older dogs: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iTAYCY5VM5U.html

@@geronimo5947 there are indeed "stubborn" dogs. This is because some breeds can be more independent than most. Consistency is key in training them.

He's nervous to fail his owner or be treated as he's done something wrong. Maybe a little time to be a dog without all the commands 24/7 would be more beneficial. He shouldn't be in a dog show every min of every day. I've had 3 pit/ mix's and none leave the yard and they always watch me. Because I lean down and hug and love my dogs. Food rewards are good for strangers. Love rewards are for owners. He's happiest being pet than fed. She's the one in need of training. Stop being so uptight. Your dog senses it. Dogs like that just want love. They will do anything for a hug.. lay on the couch and cuddle. He didn't wanna get on the box bc he's probably not allowed on the furniture. Just my opinion
