@jeremymcdude If you were born in 1998-2001 there's a good chance that when it came to the trains category on RU-vid that it mostly would be filled with train crashes happening in games, Especially one small video film of a train crashing into a bus (or truck)

Things wrong with this locomotive or the tutorial I’ve noticed in order I notice them... 1: main res spitter valve spitting with no air in air system. 2: Gen field switch up before starting, gen field should be off until your ready to move locomotive for safety purposes (prevents accidental loading and movement) 3: you do not need to reset the PCS switch before starting the locomotive. You can start it first and recover PCS after. 4: to reset the PCS from emergency, you need to keep the auto brake handle in emergency for at least 60 seconds or PCS won’t reset 5:you need to hold the start switch in fuel prime for roughly about 20-30 seconds to prime fuel system prior to engine crank, otherwise it will take a long while to start the engine. 6: your cranking over a large Diesel engine, it’s going to take some power. (IE you should see the battery amp gauge dip into the red during cranking) 7: after priming, and you have turned the start switch to crank, you will immediately hear the engine crank over, and you have to hold the switch until the engine starts. (I was going to make this a second point, but I might as well say it here, after the engine starts, you should still hear the fuel pump running, it doesn’t shut off until the engine shuts down) 8: pro tip, if they modelled it correctly, the air system should charge faster at higher throttle notches, with notch 5 generally being peak air output. Assuming your engine is warmed up, you can rev up the engine by leaving the reverser centered, and selecting the desired throttle notch on the throttle controller. 9:you do not have to wait until the air system is charged to apply the independent brake. Independent should be left fully applied and automatic brake in the released position during air system charge. 9: pro tip; select your direction and set at least notch 1 of throttle and allow the locomotive amps to rise before releasing brakes. This will prevent the train from rolling backwards when the brakes come off. (Be aware, if automatic brake is applied, it may take some time for the brakes on the train cars to release. Don’t go to overboard on the throttle right away) 10: I’m not sure of Amtrak rules, but on my railway we are required to ring the bell prior to moving (and shut it off once we have started rolling) and at all times when operating near other crews, or in an area with blind spots. 11: “coasting is a good tactic on level grades to maintain speed and reduce engine stress and maintenance requirements”.... coasting is done when you have achieved track speed and notch 1 is still causing you to gain speed. If your train is heavy and notch 2 is maintaining track speed, don’t coast, just hold power. Also, the Diesel engine on the locomotive is specifically designed to operate a full throttle and load indefinitely if it is working properly. After maintenance, we “load box” the locomotive, which is essentially dyno testing the engine at full rated horsepower (notch 8) for an hour or longer. If it can’t hold up to the stress, it’s because it’s broken and needs to be fixed. 12: at 5 mph in a yard when switching, it’s far easier to just use the independent brake to stop. Heck, a lot of time air isn’t even hooked on the cars. Also keep in mind that every time you apply and release your automatic brake, you use air in your auxiliary reservoirs on the locomotive and cars. After a couple applications in quick succession your going to start to suffer from ineffective braking as a result, yet another reason to use the independent for this purpose, as it does not suffer from this effect. That’s everything I noticed.

Well it is a game and I'm 11 but I want to work at a train yard when I'm older. This game is still all-in-all very realistic nonetheless.

Gekoh procedural, yes it kinda is. If you want a better idea of what driving a train is really about, I’d suggest Run8 train sim. The graphics are not as great, you don’t get all the clickable buttons that you get in train sim world, but in terms of physics, multiplayer experience, and depth of the gameplay in regards to the prototypical roles of different people in the railway it can’t be beat, but you really need to play with others online to get the full experience. Most of the maps you buy on Run8 connect to each other as well, right now their California and west coast maps total over 600 miles of track, it literally takes on average 10-12 hours of driving time to get a train from one end to another. I literally can’t recommend this enough. Like I said, it’s not as flashy as train sim world, but it’s realistic enough to be used as an actual railway trainer

@@speed150mph Thank you for the recommendation! I really like trains and one of my favorite games is an idle tycoon type game called Train Station. You can get it online or in the app store for free. Basically you can collect millions of real and historically accurate trains and send them to collect resources. It isn't a simulator but it is still really fun! You can get Steam, Diesel, Electric, Maglev, and concept Hyperloops!

I’ve been keeping track of all the dlc for this but the one thing that will be the icing on the cake is if they add the Acela on the NEC route.

Acid ExWarrior it would have to be P32 though since P40 and P42DCs don’t run in New York. They should also add M3s and DE30ACs and DE30DCs and the cars that they pull for the Long Island Route.

Will this new add on be a keystone route and making stops up and down the line and the route exstends past Newark international airport to Harrisburg, Philly and New York back and forth? Plus the tracks open up to make the trains go further? @trainsimulatorgameplay

Leaving appart the game, how can you possibly use this locomotive to serve a passenger railway system in a developed country nowadays.
