Yes, Dan Wesson's Pointman 7's are worth every penny. Even the CBob .45 is awesome. My favorite Dan Wesson is the Bruin 1911 in 10mm. I love these guns, no real tweaking needed to have a great shooter. You are right about the precision of the Wilson Combat Mags, never a glitch. My experience is, that after about a 550 to 650-700 round break-in period, these pistols can rock any mag, even an ACT-MAG. Thanx for your review, Pew, Pew, Pew!

There is a pointman that comes with front strap checkering. It’s called the “PM-45”. Not sure why they make another with a smooth front strap and charge the same for both models.

The PM7-45 has a green light in Cali, but otherwise the PM-45 (so no 7) seems to be the latest version of the PM7-45, including front strap checkering.

FUN FACT: CZ owns Colt, so comparing certain things on the cz to a colt is just kinda compairing an apple to its reflection.

You are correct that CZ Does indeed. now own Colt. However, one bit of credit, we must give to CZ, is the fact that all they are doing so far is injecting capital. They have not taken any of Dan Wesson's designs for their own, and they have not forced any of their own designs to be sold under the Dan wesson brand. Period my hope is that they will do the same for Colt firearms. If they leave it as it's Own company under the CZ umbrella, it might be a very good thing.

@@TheJimminiShow usually that's not the case for a relatively long period of time. I work for a subsidiary for Hormel that for 20+ years was allowed to run on its own that is all of a sudden getting towed in and became a name. Sure the plant still has the original name but it's shots are called by Hormel. I don't disagree with the hope CZ just lets DW/Colt/etc. to live on as separate entities, and seems promising considering CZ seems pretty keen on keeping customers happy.

There's still a pretty noticeable difference between current Colts and DWs with the latter being quite a step up in quality

@@greatBLT I absolutely agree! I have a Colt Gold Cup Trophy and a DW Valor and Guardian. While I like all three pistols, the Dan Wesson's are clearly better than the Colt and that's not a knock on Colt, but the fit/finish is top notch on the DW's and the triggers are way better.

Not too big on the target sights, but I get it if you're actually using them for competition use. I myself would much rather use fiber optic or tritium sights for a better sight picture... But to each their own in terms of preference.

U didn't get the gun with front strap checkering. You got the pm7, the pm45 has checkering like the pm9.. why they did that is they did a huge run of the frames for custom orders, so they could charge extra for checkering. They found out that people would rather just buy a gun ready to run so they produced the pm45 later.....plus the pm7 doesn't have the flat top on the slide.

This is the best 1911 ive ever felt being sold stock out of any store here in CA. It was buttery smooth and imo the magazines ejected flawlessly; in other 1911s for some reason the magazine release and the way they slide in n out was "frictiony" n slow. In this gun everything felt very responsive and smooth. I regret not buying it 5 yrs ago.

Joe, I appreciate all the videos you put up, my friend. DAN WESSON. Great info for some newbies to 1911's. I do agree about price vs features. You'd think there'd be more of some of those great quality 1911 futures for the price. Some 25 lines per sq in and some better quality mags would be nice for $1700, but hey🤷🏾‍♂️, that name carries some weight and you know you got a very good quality product.

The Pointman 9 has the front checkering same exact gun but in 9mm why wouldn't they checker the 45? Weird

My Heritage came with front strap checkering and a fiber optic sight for the same price. I'm just lucky I guess.

My guess would be that the name "pointman" would indicate its supposed to be a more retro style. Though I agree that anything other than a strict reproduction should have the modern features.
