Excellent vid, thanks for posting! I too had a sweet Escape Tunnel for the win, but opponent had top decked the removal and won. Also auto-tapper is very suspect this set… I need to be disciplined and verify what is going on.

After picking up 3 nervous gardeners and an escape tunnel it feels highly illegal to pass on Izoni

the thing is that you have more mountains in your deck but also even more red cards in your deck

I personally love the whole "Disguised creatures have ward" being in the set alongside several removal spells that can't be countered. In this case, ward represents the disguised creatures having some measure of protection from having their identities uncovered, and so it takes a bit of extra effort in order to scout the target to make sure you're not actually killing some innocent bystander by accident. On the flip side, all of the uncounterable removal is in either black or red, and represent the idea that those colors will just outright kill whoever is acting suspicious, without caring about, "due process," or "collateral damage." The whole thing, I think, is a real flavor win, and mechanically relevant. The real problem is that Ward *seems* like it's an intuitive mechanic on the surface, but it's actually kind of finicky and most players don't fully know how it works. I've even blown out SEVERAL opponents at last October's Modern RCQs because they simply weren't aware that I could force them to pay for ward, and THEN counter their removal spells, and those people are paying a good sum of money just for a shot at the world championship.

Regarding the people paying the ward cost on their uncounterable spells: I don't think it's because they don't realize that they don't need to, but rather a UI issue. I had the same problem with just reflexivly pressing the orange button when I don't want to interact - not realizing that the UI actually asked me to unnecessarily pay the ward cost. I don't have a solution for that, but I guess that's more likely the reason.

I really wish LSV had permanent Mythic status so we can see him play against the most competitive field on arena. Btw! I played team sealed dominaria back in the day. Our team beat team PGO and then team lsv. We beat 2 of the biggest teams in the building, and we went 4-4 😅😅😅

I thought maybe there are so many uncounterable removal spells, because WotC felt the need that more players should learn how uncouterable and Ward interacts. 🤔

I dont want to complain, cause I do enjoy LSV playing on MTGA as well, but always seeing him in bronze or silver (both in constructed and limited) makes these videos imo a lot less interesting. Not trying to be mean or anything, but seeing one of the best magic players compete against a bunch of people who are stuck in bronze/silver feels like really low stakes. Grinding up to mythic is a total pain (particularly in limited) and I get that he mostly plays vintage cube on MTGO, but couldnt he like, be provided with a MTGA account by channelfireball or sth?

Maybe the people who designed this set just wanted to mess with Arena players. "We wrote a footnote about Ward on can't be countered spells, and I bet they'll still pay the ward!"

If you watch closely, LSV's last opponent mouses over the goblin token after playing A Killer Among Us, showing that it was the card they picked.

36:42 shouldnt you be playing the Higher value creature First then? Considering There are 2 counterspells that ASK you to pay 2 or 3 Mana.

ok, look... You are without any doubt the best MTG content creator. You are smart and very good at maths. But, the whole thought process behind the getting a Mountain VS a Plains between 50:00 and 53:00 is just wrong! It was a mistake when you chose to do it, because there were no more White cards in your decks VS like 12 Red cards, it was wrong of you to complain about being unlucky to have drawn only Red spells, while these were the majority left in your deck.

i like ward2 and counterable because we saw black removal got rly bad last set and with this we givingit some strengh back while in the same time not buffing the other color removals also if people cant read u rly cant blame wizards they even print on the card that it works with ward ... people are just lazy doesnt mean mechanic is bad

Yeah, getting your splash color mana source instead of your main color is just wrong and you got to experience why: Because there are a lot more cards of your main color in your deck. Not being able to cast one card in your hand is bad, but this can straight up lose you the game by itself.

Fun seeing LSV playing these previews, but all these triple drafts really makes me miss block formats. Ah well.

Was watching Kenji and Push/Pull was a big over performer.

this is prob the worst format to block in that i've ever seen , and i started around NEO. and that set was also bad to block in but i think this set is even worse for blocking
