@@havierYT I know, I'm really dissapointed by it. It feels like Stardew does everything POOT does, but better They need to bring back character portraits, make rivals optional or something, or just give some more incentive to interact with the town. It feels sorta lonelier than other games. I'm not super far though, so maybe it'll be better once my character is married? But I will say, I do like all the farm customization

Personally I’m glad they didn’t. I wouldn’t play if that was the case. I like playing as an individual & being able to play as a female. I’d rather not be trapped in some dudes body for 75% of the game. Although I’d love it if they could include both characters some other way.

@@pound2loud oh yeah now that you mentioned it they do fit more to be twins since they both have blonde hair and starts their name with the same letter. Kinda like in RF2 Aaron and Aria, and Sera and Serena.

POOT was really a big disappointment. I bought SOS friends of mineral town and I actually enjoy that one more than POOT.

What did you expect? The game was developed in a conservative country. I doubt that they'd change it up in the future since their demographic is Japanese.

Yeah I was holding off on buying RF4 special on switch to save the money for 5 but once they announced the Japanese release date and I realised how far off localised versions can take I decided to get 4 anyway 😅 my thoughts at I can save up in the time they take to localise it 🤣

RF4S NA release was 7 months after JP so I'm placing my bets on winter. I honestly don't mind waiting either. There's so many good games this year.

I'm sure the localization process is well underway already lol, it's not like they only get started on the English version after the Japanese one comes out.

@@irmoony well I have started learning Japanese on Duolingo, so if it somehow gets delayed in English i shall use go to play asia, buy an eshop card and then buy it on my alt japanese account which i created for such a scenario

All the grass/environment textures looks so ugly... And the houses feel so disproportionate and empty on the inside. It honestly looks like a first Kickstarter game than something from an established studio ooff... Minus the character models, those look really nice

@@Alageana2 Framerate issues are indeed common in Switch games I agree with that, but optimization is always possible. I personally think it depends on the developer if they actually make an effort to do so in the first place. Look at Atelier Ryza 2, Monster Hunter Rise, and Saints Row IV, and God Eater 3 running on Switch for example. Those games look great and have good, stable framerate. Saints Row IV actually wasn't flawless when it first came out on Switch but the devs made an effort to improve and stabilize performance over time. God Eater 3 was also the same case on the Switch, it had numerous patches before framerate became as stable as it is today. So for now, I'm just hoping RF5 gets improved over time. But frankly I'm not expecting anything and I'd rather get a different game at this point over RF5 now.

@@merlefi6162 thankfully it seems they are taking the right approach with this and updating it over time - though i don't have the game (not in jp and unfamiliar with language) i hear they released a dynamic resolution feature which drastically improves framerate a few days ago, for example. interested to see how nice it looks before the global release in early 2022, as rf (including tides of destiny, as this game seems to take inspiration from it) is a favorite of mine and my mom's, and it'd be a shame for its grand return to be tarnished by tech issues

Yeah, I am so confused see all these praise for the graphics and artsyle. Guess these people never played other decent switch titles? This game looks worse than SnS and FE three houses, and they are in the same price range as well, so there is no excuse.

@@davie7670 I know, I am assuming it has something to do with marvelous, cause if ya didn't know marvelous is a billionaire company, I know they can help the developers for rune factory on the graphics looking better then gritty, and well ps2 but they didn't and its really sad, just shows how soulless marvelous is. Cause I know for a fact rune factory developers wouldn't have want this game to turn out like this graphically they love they're work that they do and give us customers(players) the best stuff now it's just... Yikes... The gameplay isn't bad at all, its quite good, the animation is smooth for the character introduction so is the animation when they speak, expressions are great its just the graphical detail for things are blah.

yeap, worst part is that this game was in development for 8 years, if you look at the release date for the 4th one...sigh this embarrassing.

You can't make a game without a studio so they did not work on it for the longest time. Please keep in mind that the series literally came back from the dead.

@@PowerpuffSpiceGirl Rune factory is always a super niche franchise and only recently got some popularity boost after 4 and 4 switch version. 3DS version of RF4 has decent sales but it's not enough to save them from bankruptcy. So yeah, I know the environment design is pretty empty and texture is pretty low res, but this is not a Major studio budget -- this is typical mid sized anime game budget which looks mostly at this level anyway. I'm already grateful that it could somehow be revived from death and as long as it keep the excellent parts of Rune Factory intact I will be 100% happy. If some people don't like the graphic then it's okay, it's Niche game for a reason.

Same. I don't really get people saying that "it looks so good". It looks decent, yes. But for a 2021 game? Nah, man. The characters look quite good, I like them. But the graphics look a bit soulless. I always loved and adored the graphic style of RF 2-3 (the other games were pretty, too), so I was really anxious about RF5 being in 3D. But if the game's good, I'll shut up. Though I don't really want to be disappointed, those games are expensive after all

I'm more concerned with the frame rate. Don't really mind the graphics but I hope they fix frame rate because I don't like moving at 10fps.

Yeah it kinda looks like a late PS2 or early PS3 game, not the top of the cream but I find graphics like this quite nostalgic somehow, kinda feels like a classic that just happened to release in 2021, which I don't have anything against! I'm also here mostly for the gameplay and characters. If this sells well, hopefully the Rune Factory 6 will have a bigger budget to work with.

So it's really not "harder" to make same sex options happen in a game. Honestly locking the content takes the same time and energy as making if statements for pronouns. I don't think they care about their western audience as much as the story of seasons team unfortunately. Like we don't even have a month on our release date yet... story of seasons has the same producers, same publishers, the only thing different is the rune factory team itself.

Yeah it sucks but this genera is about to explode with a lot of indies coming out most with same sex marriage check out Coral Island has same sex marriage and looks like it could be a pretty good game.

@@crazystart8581 I'm not disagreeing with you, but this game has full-on anime cutscene for weddings. So they would need to animate more for gay marriage (I would be willing to sacrifice those anime cutscenes for it tho). Rune Factory also just came back from the dead, so I think they can't take the "risk" of it as easily as SOS. Let's support the game (giving them more safety) and beg them on Twitter to include it! Only this way we will get it.

@@rinamohn1807 @Rina Shiawase ok but so far the animated scenes we've seen in game have been strictly character animations with no background or real context to the story. It's the same for rf4 special for the 3 ds. There my have been a few cut scenes where they interacted with the protagonist but none of them showed the face or anything. If these were cut scenes like rune factory frontier that might be an excuse but that's not what I've seen so far. Honestly if they were rushed to make a game it would have been better to a spin off than a main series title that looks like the late stages of a beta.

@@crazystart8581 Look at the trailers they put up. They have shown extra animation showing the wedding with background and both protagonist and love interest. The game looks fine to me. You don't have to buy it if it underwhelms you. However, if it doesn't sell well then they won't exactly have a better budget for the next game.

With the mainline games until RF4 (3DS) it didn't matter because their sprites were small, but with the big 3D games customization would be nice, yes. I just wonder how they would solve the problem with character portraits, in the cutscenes here you can clearly see the 3D models and portraits at the same time, it would break immersion if they simply showed the default portrait, a lot more work would need to go into this feature.

In rune factory in the first areas the monsters are more docile, only attacking in long repetitions. When you get past the first areas the stronger and more aggressive monsters will become. This is how it is in rune factory 4.

No game is technically obligated to have that.

It could be just how game works for japanese realease. Similar with SoS and Harvest Moon, because of japan's law against homosexuality, the japanese realease usually only support hetero relationship, unlike the international/westernized version

@@acclasica9496 Actually in Marvelous’ remake of Friends of Mineral Town and in the newest SOS game Pioneers of Olive Town, both of them had the ability to pursue homosexual relationships. So I don’t really get why they’d revert back to hetero-exclusive content. I would have been much happier to wait a little longer to be able to get inclusive relationships??
