First look at the Carenado Piper PA-28 Archer II in Microsoft Flight Simulator 

I used to own a PA-28 and was very impressed at how stable it was in the air. I picked up this plane for MSFS the other day and was suitably impressed. It feels like the actual plane. The lack of an autopilot is not a problem as it's incredibly easy to hand fly.

Carenado is simply an excellent developer of GA aircraft. For high quality aircraft at a fair price, it's hard to go wrong. As you pointed out in this video, this aircraft is impressive both inside and out. I can put a lot of hours flying all over the place with this plane and enjoying every minute of it. Oh and the thumbnail, looks real.

thanks for this brief review. this surely will be my next purchase for the flightsim. maybe carenado does not build the most realistic aircrafts, but they look just wonderful and since I don't fly on vatsim or other online communities and I just fly to relax after a day at the office to cool down its not such a big deal for me (nevertheless I also love the P28 line of just flight) I just like those old fashioned steam gauge cockpits since I did my first "lessons" in the build in "flight school" with the C152. I've had watch quite a few of your reviews and guides and wanted to give you a thank you as it often was helpful and I like your calm kind of presentation.

Uh another GA classic, a true beauty inside! Only in the older days they made such beautyful cockpits instead of "cheaping out and as much purism as possible" design idea. This thing will be an absolute beauty when flying in VR.

I want the Archer 3 which is the one we use for training at my university. This is a very welcome addition though.

Great video.Thanks.These do spin quite well depending on fuel/weights.Not sure about now but in the 70s spin recovery was part of the PPL test. Incidentally what you call a compass was known as a DI which you correctly adjusted to match the real compass reading.

Just a heads up with the click spot to return the tablet to its pocket. It felt like to me like the click spot was wonky but I found if I held the button in it worked everytime. Thanks for the review! I bought it and like it. A lot. :)

The PA28 flaps are mechanical so move instantly, in real world you don't taxi with flaps extended, start with fuel pump on and put it on for take off and landings. You do run up and take off checks prior to departure, check left, right and both magnetos. No flaps needed for normal take off, only short field departure. Rotate about 85mph.

Do you use a bluetooth keyboard? Mine turns off after a certain time and it freezes the sim when it reconnects.

Nice review, she's a beauty and definitely fits the Carenado label. Have you tried the new freeware Version 2 mod for the 152?! It is amazing, absolute payware quality, with a tablet, failures, circuit breakers, state saving, maintenance. I am kind of stunned.

I fly an Archer II IRL and I must say I have never had the wing come anywhere close to dropping when stalling XD

I've got the Just Flight Piper Warriors and Arrow. This is similar but you get a crude autopilot with the other models.

I hope A2Ac172 will come to MSFS soon.

Looks like a nice plane but I wouldn't bother myself already owning the Warrior 2 from Just flight seems to similar.

What is your views on this Vs the just flight version ? I have the JF and wonder if it's worth getting this or just sticking with that

No autopilot is a killer on this one. I've owned this and it's too bad, because the flight characteristics of the airplane are very good. Very much like the real thing. I'm still looking for a good PA28-181 Archer II that matches my real Archer II. The Just Flight Xplane Archer III is way too unstable, and it stalls at way to high an airspeed.

Why do I want to get this Piper if I already have the Piper bundle from Just Flight? What's you unique about this special aircraft? Inte thought they wore quite similar? Is this in some way a less complicated plane or is it more powerful or....? Please let me know. 👍🏼

Can't help but feel a bit disappointed in the lack of overhead switch panel for Carenado's version of the Archer. How else are us PA28 people supposed to feel like airline pilots??

"It's a nice warm day so it's debatable whether we'll need the fuel pump" - I think you are getting confused with choke, in a carburreted aircraft engine. The weather and temps have no bearing on the use of fuel pump. In the real aircraft (I have 200hrs in an Archer of this generation), you would use the fuel pump for engine start - with mixture and thrrottle set to full - until you see a positive reading on the fuel pressure. You then reduce the throttle to an inch, and turn over. Without the fuel pump, it will take a long time for the mech pump to get fuel into the cylinders, and although it would probably start eventually, you'd have 10-15 secs turning over of the starter.

Acro with a Piper Archer? Forget it. The Archer, like almost all Pipers, is a flying brick, made for flying from A to B in a stright libe with a very, very stable aircraft. Nothing more. I don't know why simmers pretend to do acro with every plane. In RL you do acro with very few one. A tonneaux with an Archer I believe is mostly impossible and if you try it probably tgere us nkt a secknd chance. I have fliwn an Archer knly twjce but it is so heavy .... only a C172 is prkbably havier... simple easy to fly aircrafts .

I watched a video today by "Q8Pilot" posted 5 days ago with some excellent tips on reducing or eliminating stuttering. Titled "5 New Performance Tips for Microsoft Flight Simulator". Might want to have a look at that for some things to check.
