The 963 is around 250kg lighter than the 992 GT3. For me, I find this to be the fastest of all the LMDh cars. Was hitting high 1:31s at Daytona with it while I struggle to get mid-1:33s in the Cadillac.

Braking so early is on one part because of the cylinder sizes and pads used on the fixed setup. Getting to change those normally changes a lot in the amount of stopping power and also how you brake.

The braking curves on these cars are so difficult. The trailing taking into account tyre wear, weight, loss of downforce, trak conditions etc etc is a difficult one...

Tried the Porsche last night. I really like it. It will be interesting to see how things progress with these.

I have a serious question. I see Dan has a 5k irating. I also see his hardware setup is very expensive. I am sure all of this gives you a huge advantage over the guy with a cheap single-monitor setup. I know having years of experience on the sim also comes into play as well but to get a high irating you need to basically win or podium often. Is this how people manage to get iratings this high? I can tell just by the times these guys put up that they are 3k or better during some races I am in late at night when there is only 1 split. I just am trying to learn if these people only race in series they can win or podium or if these people race everything like most of us do. I race everything. So my irating constantly fluctuates. But if I cherry-picked just one or a few different cars I would most likely have a higher irating. Do these guys have the main 5k account and also have a 2nd account where they can have fun and not worry about irating? This is not me taking a shot at anyone, I am just curious to know if these kind if accounts are like a business streamer type of thing. How in the hell do you race many things and have fun and end up with a 5k irating? HOW??

You learn over time to adjust quickly to changing cars 😅 when I was focusing on one series back in the days I peaked at around 6.5k rating but kinda burnt out on it - much prefer to just drive whatever I feel like. Good equipment helps, but doesn’t make you faster necessarily- there are many many guys out there with a broken G27 on a desk that slap me big times in races 😅

Love the Update. Love the GTP class. Haven't tried the Acura yet, but the Porsche. And I caught up with trying the Cadillac, both great to drive - I'm sure the Acura will be just as good. I appretiate iRacing more and more, for the past year the devs updated quite a lot... and I am really thinking about switching full on from ACC to iRacing, since ACCs current tyre model felt initially like a good thing, but I think Kunos messed their sim up with following patches and hotfixes. Cars feel different on different tracks in a ridiculous way. On Silverstone the Porsche 992 GT3 R has decent grip - well, until 20 mins when tyres start to miraculously deteriorate with a finger snap. On Suzuka the car feels like a piece of butter in a hot pan. You always fight the car on ACC, not your abilities and your limit. iRacing on the other hand is more relatable in what YOU are doing and what the car LETS you do... don't like to hate on ACC, because as a sim racing enthussiast I usually approach it like you say at the beginning here and try to appreciate every sim for what it wants to achieve. Every sim has it's strenghts and flaws. But right now I feel iRacing is the most sofisticated and complete sim - yeah, rain still missing, hahaha, all laughed, move on 😅. And iRacing feels like a better GT3 sim to me, than ACC. Because I don't think - but of course I don't KNOW this! - cars on ACC behave as realistic as in iRacing, and frankly I don't believe the Porsche 992 GT3 R is as shitty as a car, as it feels on ACC. Results in real life racing might not be mega successful, but on many races you find this car in the upper ranks and from what you can see it looks very less struggling with curbs and stuff. On rFactor 2 and iRacing and even on Raceroom the car is a breeze to drive, but on ACC you feel getting punished on many tracks. It's a pitty, to be honest. And I hope Kunos has the capacities and the will to fix their physics... no front on Aris, who apparently worked on the current tyre model on his own for the most part, it is the right direction to mitigate a lot of the impossible esports setups and such, but the chassis just needs an overhaul, so cars can generate more grip and be quick at the same time without allowing impossible micky mouse setups allowing 1% of drivers being super fast and the rest of us dully average joes not only baffled, but being more or less seconds off pace with a relatable setup or constantly in barriers with so called esports setups.

Yeah, ACC is just 'off' in strange ways. Professional drivers always complain about the braking on it. Anyways, I really just stick to iRacing and rFactor2 as rFactor2 still feels soooo good. Love the BTCC content they released on it. It's just you have very limited online options (early evenings and weekends for the U.S. as on LFM seems all the drivers are in Europe) and AI pretty much sucks on it. Still I love driving it so I keep it around.
@peadookie
@peadookie Год назад
I have to admit, I'm totally with you. I started with ACC and it was great and as time has gone on, it's become less and less realistic - which is a big deal to me. I pretty much fully made the switch to Iracing and have really enjoyed the service. Of course, I've now purchased a couple hundred dollars of content, but I realistically race 20+ hours a week (no kids, etc). For me, the overall value is there and the ease of hopping in and joining races is great. Open wheel and multiclass racing are my thing and I truly feel iRacing's the best service out there for that, even though I initially had a lot of hesitation to join the service due to cost and really only joined because my buddy wanted to. Worth buying a sub and testing it out. There's plenty of free racing and gives you at least a few options for cars and tracks across many disciplines. Good luck!

@@peadookie Yeah, contentwise iRacing is leader on the market, no question. But also the driving experience feels more sound to me. Only rF2 is on the same page in my opinion

@@peadookieWhat’s your opinion about the sound of GT3 cars of iRacing vs ACC. I find iRacing more realistic and more brutal like if you give gas in neutral it’s really wow effect with me and exhaust pops and transmission whine etc, tires sound,… also exterior sounds are pretty similar to real life, only Lambo & Audi are a bit off but has nice fly-by sounds

Fixed setup medium brake pad, braking is terrible. High brake pads you can go deeper way deeper into the braking zone

Always surprises me how some of these guys can have such a high iRating but suck so much on a car like this. I mean yeah it's new but it's not like they should not have plenty of experience driving similar cars. I don't get it. I'm of a much, much lower iRating but I quickly adjusted to at least driving it competently around the track at speeds better then some of those dudes were doing. I don't get it. As for the brakes, you really need to go in and maximize the rotor size for tracks like this as it helps a ton. Even the low downforce iRacing setup does not maximize the brake rotors. Course I think this is fixed setup for this race so nothing you could do other then plan a mile out when to brake.

If I didn't see the lap times, and just went by feel, I'd swear the P217 is faster than the GTP cars.
@ReXzz
@ReXzz Год назад
because it is significanlty lighter and thus goes around corners faster. GTPs have a lot more power though and get their time there. And also important: Because they are lighter they have a shorter braking distance + due to their lower power, they arrive slower at a braking zone, meaning they don't have to be slowed down as much again. LMP2s are more agile

hit brakes real hard while you still have downforce...

Yeah braking is similar to Formula cars, hard braking while at high speed then ease off as the speed reduces, works much better
