Thanks for watching! Yeah we think this is going to be popular with a lot of professionals or even hobbyists who are creating a lot of more cinematic social content.

This lens will be exciting for many photographers for wedding and other stuff. Can replace many different lenses. However for sports, it a bit short. Also I do want to mention, not Canon, Nikon, Sony or Fuji, but Tamron probably has the one lens for all. 35-150. Also, a 17-70 F2.8. granted its for apsc, but that's a 24-105 f2.8 equivalent. But exciting and expensive all in the same time

For field sports, it definitely does not work. Even 70-200mm can be a little short. But for most things indoor, it works perfectly!

got mine yesterday- its a handful, but as you stated; getting to 105mm from 24mm will beat swapping lenses. the IRIS use remains a mystery

What did you do with the 24-105 f2.8 and can't do with 24-105 f4 L RF cheaper, lighter and smaller?

This lens is aimed at a very different market - we cover all the features in the video 😊

Should we be worried about the underside contact points between the zoom ring and aperture ring ? Is it okay when they are being exposed during a rain and dusty conditions ?
@WilkinsonCameras
@WilkinsonCameras 8 месяцев назад
It’s a good question! There’s no expectation that EVERY person who owns it will also use the servo unit alongside. And, it is an L series lens designed for professionals in particular and does come with L lens build quality, including dust and weather sealing. Therefore, we’d expect there to be things in place to prevent any issues occurring with the contacts on the lens barrel. Sadly we no longer have the lens to hand to further investigate, but if we can do a full review with a production model down the line then we’ll have a better look into this and ask Canon the question as well! Thanks for watching 😊

@@WilkinsonCameras Thank you Alex for responding. Yes L lens is known for its reliability and weather sealing. Since the points look exposed I was a bit concerned. I remember seeing such points in the EF S 18-135 IS USM lens as well. If those lenses lasted without any trouble, I am sure this RF one also will last without any trouble. I would love to see another exhaustive video from your team about this lens in the future. Keep up the good work, its been a pleasure watching your videos. Thanks again. Cheers.

Man you could almost replace an entire kit with this and maybe a 200 to 400 odd range zoom lens... This makes the canon 2.8 holy trinity almost obsolete.

Yes, it's a world first. Tamron has a 28-105 F/2.8, but it was/is pretty bad !! Canon blew anyone out of the market !!
@jaegerschtulmann
@jaegerschtulmann 8 месяцев назад
Nope Tamron has the 35-150f2-2.8 which blows this lens out with better optical formula, price, and even size! Canon fanboys be happy to pay 3k for this bazooka of a lens😂
@EmeraldAudiovisual
@EmeraldAudiovisual 8 месяцев назад
@@jaegerschtulmann How is that relevant here ? That Tamron lens is in a different focal range compared to the above lens, is not image stabilised, is not parfocal and most importantly: it doesn't exist in EF nor RF mount. So it's not even usable as a comparison.

about 3 months ago I asked a B&H employee if canon were ever going to release a 24-105 f/2.8 because I didn't want to drop 2k on a 24-70 if 24-105 was around the corner and he assured me that Canon would never make a lens with that zoom range and aperture 'its just not done" i want my money back
@WilkinsonCameras
@WilkinsonCameras 8 месяцев назад
What wasn’t done in the past is possible today thanks to the latest mirrorless technology and the new lens designs this has enabled. In fairness to the B&H employee, they wouldn’t have had any idea that this was coming!

Same. I love my 24-70 2.8 but it would have been nice to have 105 too.

all these pre production videos seems pointless to me. it's just hype until somebody reviews the actual thing.

Sony 18-105 f4 G pz did it first, the only difference between that lens the Canon lens, sony is for crop sensor and it a f4 with power zoom.

Z is for the power zomm capability jeez. Do some research next time
@WilkinsonCameras
@WilkinsonCameras 8 месяцев назад
There’s no need to be rude. Im sure if you’ve watched the video you will see that it is full of information about the new lens, with plenty of information gathered and the lens tested to create the video. As I said in the video, there was no mention of the “Z” in our meeting with Canon, no confirmation of the new series naming protocol. How do you propose we research a lens that is the first of its kind, doesn’t yet officially exist when we create these videos and write the information for them… and when Canon are keeping that information under wraps, even to people like us who have signed NDA’s to be privy to the advanced information that we do get? Where would we possibly confirm or research that?
@bkhopeproduction8325

It's not for power zoom Mr. researcher 😅

Lol you guys are quite pathetic. The z is for power zooming. It's not something new it's like that on their cine line. But it's ok to be ignorant
@DanielFazzari
@DanielFazzari 8 месяцев назад
@bkhopeproduction8325 yes, the "Z" means the lens is compatible with the new Power Zoom adapters. Doesn't excuse the rude comment, though.
