These shake-up initiatives DC does is just too gimmicky, disingenuous , and they seem to disappoint every time. To think that DC will do better this time is the same as Charlie Brown always having the ball pulled away from him.
It's not gimmicky this time. It's something that is tried and tested. People have been waiting for DC to do a proper response to Marvel's ultimate universe. So I am excited. However, I am only worried about how long it will last. DC is notorious for not sticking to their guns. If the start isn't good will they abandon it in a few short years as they abandoned new 52? That's the real issue DC has.
I read the Sandman Mystery Theatre compendium recently and it got me wondering: why don't DC use that approach for Detective Comics? 4 issue story arcs in wich the hero solves crimes? It would be better than anything Tom Taylor has to offer, I think.

@@floorboss That is not how Walmart handles books and periodicals. And I can verify you can't assume all Walmarts will put them in a easy to find location. I know I used work at one. They don't merchandise this kind of product either, they have a third party do it.
They should try get dan abnett to write more stories for them, he always does good work, his aquaman run was good and his work on annihilation conquest & guardians of the galaxy are legendary
If you haven't already, check out Dan Abnett's work for 2000AD in the UK. His writing on 'Brink', 'The Out', 'Kingdom' and 'Feral & Foe' are all brilliant, and 2000AD very rarely has a dud artist either.
DC could put the Ghosts of Denny O'Neill and Neal Adams on Detective and it wouldn't matter . I will not buy another DC Comic while Mark Waid is there .

I'm still trying to decide on DC, but have to admit Dan Waters on Nightwing and PJK on Batman and Robin are tempting. Others would be a meh to heck no. I just have to determine if my distaste for Waid will prevent me from supporting the other creators.

I don’t know what to think, I don’t know enough about these new teams…so I’m taking your advice and steering clear of most of them. I’m old school, the creative people I liked were people like Alan Grant, Norm Breyfogle, Tom Grummet, Barry Kitson, Chris Sprouse, William Messner Loebs, Kyle Baker. Those are the creators I liked…and I’m still disappointed they don’t have any light hearted or humorous books on the horizon. I like books like Plastic Man, Bibbo, Jimmy Olsen , Gnort…some serious books is alright, but I like to see some light hearted books too. We’ll see how it goes, thanks for keeping us informed.

Phillip Kennedy Johnson on Batman and Robin and Jason Aaron on Superman are the two I am most excited about. Johnson Is great at building Deep stories with great lore. Aaron is about to give Joshua Williamson a run for his money. Aaron wrote the best Thor ever told in my opinion and the idea of a superman who lacks the humanity we are used to is a good idea. We all know that somehow Kal-el is going to learn those ideals we are used to and Im curious to see how.
From what I saw on WW, Steve Trevor meets his end. If King has any smarts he better resurrects him ASAP! And, he better give him a back history and a new purpose!

I don't really read DC, but I am super excited to read Jeremy Adams's Flash Gordon next week because of how much Wes and afficianatos recommend his books.
If dc comics went into regular retail stores , I imagine it going as well as that short period when hot topic sold vinyl records , a lot mistreated , and a lot sold at low prices from sitting there awhile, can be a win in some cases and a Loss in some cases if it happens
For the most part, I like the shakeup so far. Little disappointed in the Action Comics lineup. Taylor on Detective is suspect but I really like Janin. Did you notice Tom King isn’t on a single thing (so far)?

I read the Red Sonja from Groenbek and I liked the first arc, but the second arc that's still ongoing feels like 4-5 issues could've just been one. It drags a bit.
I am actually excited for more Joshua Willaimson and dan mora superman because they are great team and more Jeremy Adams green lantern makes me so happy but everything else i am going wait and see what happens.

I feel you on Titans. I am sick of Taylor on the book but I'm afraid I'm not familiar with Layman outside of hearing about Chew being cool a few years ago. It's a surprising choice but hopefully he delivers as yeah the Titans are desperate for a decent book. Still kinda wish Lemire got that title for personal reasons of being a fan of him (and he does like NTT) and some star power. Do like Pete Woods so there's that. Waid's always been an asshole that more and more I don't want to support but given his remarks on recent events its really bad look he's on Action Comics of all books. Maybe DC will say something soon but we will see. And sorry, Mariko Tamaki is forever known as the writer who cursed us with "I Am Not Starfire." Even if she manages to do right by Supergirl she's stuck as knowing as the woman who gave Starfire a nasty fat goth daughter who is just her self insert working out her mommy issues.

I'm actually excited for almost of these, with PKJ on Batman and Robin is the big one for me. The one i'm on the fence about is Taylor on Detective but that's mostly because Ram V's run has been incredible and gonna hard to top. I like Mark Waid writing Superman but a weekly book at 4.99 plus tax is a big NO for me.

I'm pretty disappointed with Tom Taylor in Detective Comics. I'm afraid that him will change some aspects of Batman origins. I'm happy in to see Mark Waid in Action Comics,he can make good things with the Man Of Steel. I'm not familiar with Nightwing and Titans new writers so I' don't know if the quality these books will improve. PKJ in Batman And Robin is a good surprise for me,maybe he will take Batman main book after Zdarsky run ends.

I was hoping Chip Zdarsky was off Batman. A disappointment when compared to Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man, Spider-Man: Life Story and Daredevil by him.

I enjoy the current Green Arrow series and I’ll give Chris Condon a chance. Green lantern is a must buy so no charge there. I like John Layman’s CHU so I’ll definitely give Titans a try when he takes over. That looks like Mon-el in Action so I might give it a try even with Mark Waid writing it. I like Phillip Kennedy Johnson( his John Stewart series is really good) but I couldn’t care less about Batman these days so I’ll have to pass.
So... After Absolute Power. Will the Justice League in the main universe face Darkseid or will the Justice League in Elseworld face Darkseid? Because this crossover occurred when the Justice League in the main universe was still facing Waller's terror in Absolute Power.

If DC has to work to get a Supergirl title ready for the movie Supergirl Woman of Tomorrow- Isn't that a comic book? Wouldn't you assume the comicbook titled Supergirl Woman of Tomorrow is some kind of best seller for it to be a movie? Is the comic book Supergirl Woman of Tomorrow not selling and that is why DC the publisher has to work to get a Supergirl comic book to pick up an audience?
There's no recon involved but a slight change to Gotham as a major secret about the first families of Gotham's elite and the political makeup linked to the Wayne Foundation and Thomas Wayne family secrets involving someone who will be unmasked as the Redhood true crime boss. The other is Martha Wayne's origins will probably be revealed and her connections to two key figures in Batman's past tales. James Gordon's boyhood friend will be a criminal with a darker insight into an unexpected event that could be a game-changing combination of events that will alter the structure of Batman's friendship with James Gotham for some time. And Bruce Wayne will discover an additional cave under Wayne Manor one that holds an equal set of bizarre problems with a huge one that no one will forget reading about a dimensional link to another reality perhaps another Batcave?
For Titans, Absolute Power ends with the Titans controlling Waller for what she did to the entire superhero community. Sounds about right. For Batman and Robin, since PKJ done his work on Action Comics and Green Lantern: War Journal, then his run on Batman and Robin will be good. For Green Arrow, let’s hope that the Green Arrow family will forgive Oliver for what he did in his 350th issue. Also, let’s hope that the next arc after Absolute Power will deal with the Emiko Queen family tree situation, since she is the daughter of Shado (whose son Robert Queen II is Oliver’s son) and Robert Queen I (even though his death was shown and mentioned pre-Flashpoint), resulting in her not existing pre-Flashpoint of that she’s Oliver’s daughter timeline and age wise. For Action Comics, Superman and the Original Mon-El together again! Also, good for Supergirl to have her back up issues on her 65th anniversary, and good for Action Comics to go All-In weekly (since they haven’t done it since the ‘80s). For Wonder Woman, Steve is going to die again and Emelie will give birth to Trinity, causing Diana to raise her with help from the Wonder Woman family (at least in Trinity’s timeline). Also, Trinity’s origin on how she became Trinity.
Man, even if mark waid IS a douche (don't know, i'm not fool enough to go on Twitter) he's one of the last décent writers WE have, his Supes IS litteraly the only thing i like here (with Adams GL, but WE already have him on the regular séries)
