I own this gun -- very well-done review! You did neglect one VERY important feature of this gun -- it comes with THREE 17-round magazines. I thought the silver slide was over, BUT I saw some shade of a silver slide at my local gun shop. It MAY have been a tad darker silver than mine, but I've not compared them side by side.
Pretty cool Xmas Gift! Fan of the Black on Black! The trigger system is interesting and they were set up as combat pistols for CQB hence the short sight radius of that and the PPQ and the M&P and the XD and the HK P30. FN was one of the early guys to do this but not uncommon if you look at the Colt Commander.
An oldie but a goodie. Basically FN’s gen 2 version of the fnp pistols which were fantastic guns at an awesome price. I remember seeing the fnp 9/40 for under $400 sometimes before they discontinued them. Merry Christmas and remember the reason for the season
I think 509 is a better platform. Better grip textures, it lets me know if a round is in a chamber or not, sleeker design, more holster options, good price selections. I own FNX 45 Tactical and not a fan of the coating they used on magazines. It scratches so easily just by dropping and re-inserting the mags...
I look forward to your impressions after you take it to the range. I've been looking at one of these at my local gun shop but it seems to have a longer barrel and slide. Thanks and cheers!
Randolph no. The slide of the one that I saw at my LGS is longer than a 509 and longer than a Glock 19. We put them side by side. Also longer than the 'regular' FNX-9 that they had there.
I regret my purchase of the FNX-9 because of my negative experience with their customer service. I bought the FNX-9 new in 2014. It was defective with the double action trigger often failing to fall forward. See other RU-vid videos "double action trigger heat problem" and "will not fire in double action". I discovered the problem before firing a single box of ammo. I contacted FN customer service and they denied such a problem existed blaming it on user error even though there were RU-vid videos demonstrating the same problem. They agreed to repair it but it required the hassle and expense of shipping the gun prepaid to Arnold Mo. Then they made me pay misc, postage-Ins- handling to get the gun back. It cost me a small fortune to have them fix their mistake. I received it back but with a different trigger problem. When I rack the slide or release the thumb safety it makes a loud clicking sound when you touch the trigger. Also the trigger pull is awful and spongy. It also has a defective loose backstrap demonstrating poor build quality. It is the worst gun and most costly gun in my collection. I get angry every time I look at it.
