As a lifelong Ford and Mustang enthusiast, I’m glad to see Ford is becoming more involved in motorsports and building cars like this. But I think they are making mistakes with this car. They just revealed the interior photos and they used too many mustang bin parts that were just re-upholstered. When you look into a mustang that costs 8x more than a GT or 3x more than a GT500 you shouldn’t see such similar interiors. But I think the biggest issue is how far Ford is pushing the envelope on the price. No matter how good this car is it will always be “Just a Mustang” to the haters. The American companies have always lived by the notion that they can get it done for much cheaper than the exotics. It might not be as fancy or flashy, but the performance is there. This car completely throws that out the window. No one that wants to own this car wants the one with no options, they want the DRS, mag wheels, Ti exhaust, carbon edition, etc., this will likely push the car passed 400k and that is in a realm of some very unique and highly desired cars. Many are comparing this to the 2nd gen FGT and expecting the values to explode but I don’t think that will be the case. While they might stay strong, they are in the middle of the exotic car world without the exotic car show stopping looks. The FGT looks more like a spaceship than a car and it is like nothing else on the road. It turns heads and attracts crowds wherever it goes, the GTD will blend in (I owned a 2000 Cobra R and a Viper ACR at the same time and the public reactions were night and day). The inside of a FGT is completely one off and only shares a few buttons with other Ford vehicles. Other than the application process, I don’t think you can really compare the two vehicles and I think the 2nd hand market will reflect that. I fully expect a loaded GTD to pass 400k and at that point it’s not that far behind the MSRP of an early FGT. This is a great car and I hope they surprise a lot of people at the Nürburgring, but it’s got some stiff competition in the performance to value/exclusivity market when these flood bring a trailer in 2 years and everyone is expecting to double their money.
@@Sleepingcoffee979 if history is any indication of the future, they’re going to build more than they plan to. My prediction is 2-3k as the finance department always wins the profitability to rarity fight.
@@EnthusiastsGarage well yeah I'm sure depending how fast the car sells originally but even then this Is definitely going to be there flagship car for the future so 2k or 3k will sell easily
I’m glad I still own my 20 GT 500 Kona blue with 10k shadow black stripes, tech and handling pack. Cf dash insert etc. should have kept your 350R my friend. Please consider keeping your favorite car or two! I love your McLaren. You designed a fantastic spec!
@milleniallgt9715 Its not about HP. See you're narrow minded. Tells me you know nothing about cars. Under 7 minutes on the Nurburgring takes alot more than HP. The Porsche GT3rs has 520 hp and will embarrass a GT500 around a track. Lol It's called engineering. You apparently have no idea what the GTD is under the skin. Go play with ur match box cars.
Pricewise, this competes directly with McClaren 750S, the Ferrari 296 GTB, and the Porsche GT2 RS. Performance wise, I just can't see the GTD on the same level.
If this Mustang gonna cost 400k which i think it will. Ford execs are gone bananas. Sure they are marketing it as a Porsche killer. But 400k for a Mustang?! Even if i have 400k in my pocket. I wont be cross shopping a Mustang with a Porsche or any other hypercar in that price bracket.
Speed Phenom Great Video I think it's awesome that you were right ford release a Carbon Fiber performance pack for the Upcoming S650 GTDs and I think you should definitely get one with that option if you get approved
- Just don't get the performance package. No avarage driver would notice the difference. The car is very special enough in the basic "trim". - This car is crazy fast, just watch it in the Green Hell. Ain't no 992 GT3 getin close to it, just the RS.
For me the carbon series GT was the least visually pleasing. It also looks like Ford is falling in love with its own legend hence the ridiculous price points. That being said I still love all my Fords.
