The bass is monstrous. Overall, from what was shown on the demo, the sound colors are exactly my taste. I love the top line Korg products, they always are top notch quality. Looked into many other synths, because I am always in the market...once you have robust sound within the factory presets, you can always design your own fantastic sounds. Not so with cheap machines where you need tons of other equipment to boost their capabilities. Here you have one sick instrument to begin with and that's all that matters. I just like to turn it on and be able to have sick, fat sounds right at my fingertips. And this Korg looks like the one I will get. (Proud owner of OASYS and Radias)
I feel like this is the first demo of this synth, that actually sounded good. I was getting scared there hahaha, I wasn't digging the tone until this vid. 👍🏽👍🏽
is that a CS80 in the background!? would love to see a piece on that!! the prologue does need look great, i’d like to see it against the poly six or poly61to see if it has that old school analogue OOMPH! because the old beasts have as yet remained the kings.
It sounds very nice. It would also be nice to hear the synth part itself better (effects disabled) to show the nature of the filters and oscillators, which are after all the most important parts of a classic synth. Off-topic question because I just noticed it: Why in heavens name would you assign the lowpass filter frequency to the modwheel *backwards*? I have such a preset pack for the AN1x, and it's driving me mad.
A bit bummed about the lack of after touch though, trying to decide between this or deepmind 12. DM12 would be the logical choice but I have long term reliability worries having been burned by Behringer twice in the past... Any thoughts which way to turn? Or just stick with my Alesis Ion for another year.... hmm.
Jeff Kent I was curious about the Prologue, but after watching many demo I think the Deepmind is better soundwise for my taste. I have the DM and I find it a lot more warmer than this. I like the design of the Prologue, but not so much the sound. It has that metallic tone I heard on the Minilogue too.
I just tried it. I thought it is strange to adjust the Sequencer when my problem is the Arpeggiator but i thought "who knows" . The Sequencer "step resolution" does not affect the way the Arpeggiator works. The Arpeggitator still only plays 16th notes. That is really ..... i won`t describe it. Even a microbrute has a better arpeggiator.
didn't you hear? this is a PROFESSIONAL performance instrument. Not for us! Pro`s don't need sequencers ......lol lol . I hope the Arpeggiator will not be the same as in the Monologue or else have fun always listening to 16th notes :-)
I really wanted that step sequencer, too. Arpeggiators are nice, but the up/down, up, down, etc, is a limitation on too many analog synths. The step sequencer on the Minilogue and Monologue are very useful for creating dance music.
13:20 you sly devil... You would use that song 3 years to the day before I would watch this video… which is also coincidentally 3 years to the day before they released the 3rd season of Stranger Things on Netflix!
“Otherwise they’re exactly the same.” No, no they’re not. You forgot a huge point that the prologue 16 has twice the polyphony. I think you also forgot to mention that utilizing some features is a bit more difficult in the prologue eight.
I don't think thats a deal breaker, a lot of the classic Poly's only had one LFO like OBX, Prophet and JP-8. I think the overall tone might not be for everybody though.
Heathcliff, On Jupiter you could switch VCO2 to LFO mode (i.e. disable key tracking) and modulate VCO1 with it, essentially gaining a second LFO. On Prologue you can modulate VCO2 via VCO1, but you can't disable key tracking, so it's not exactly a second LFO but it may suffice in some cases.
Two years later and its entirely obsolete, has tuning issues that can't be rectified even after firmware updates for some and lacks aftertouch and a whole host of other features that the other companies have beat. An embarrasing thing to call a 'flagship' for sure. Focus on a better Kronos. Its a decade old, needs replacement and is all you are good at.
What an odd thing to complain about, especially at the point of the video when he plays a clean enough sound that it's obvious that it DOES show the waveform.
Nice synth, but dosen't sound better than System-8 or JD-XA. My V-Synth also sound pretty amazing. To be honest it sounds like my iPad Zeeon synth App.
