Sometimes I'm able to get my hands on a ruleset that's ready to play but the total book is overall still in layout. This is one of those times!
Lasting Tales is an upcoming Solo and CoOperative a adventure game for 1-5 players from Blacklist Games. It's miniatures Agnostic but can also use the figures from the Fantasy Figures 1 Box if you're looking for a ready-to-go solution.
The rules are penned by Mark Latham (Elder Scrolls: A Call to Arms, Legends of the Old West) and these Demo Rules will be finalized for you all to check out March 30th. More information on the BLG Website HERE: www.blacklistg...

Ash I loved this vid! As excited as I was for Rangers of Shadow Deep, this is much more on point for the co-op D&D-esque experience I have been looking for. Eager for the next vid!

The use of the Combat Table seems a bit weird to me. It brings in an extra mechanic to the game for no real bonus that I can see. Simply making attacking be roll 2d6+Combat Skill versus the target's defence (in the manner of D&D) seems less janky to me. Thank you very much for the play though.

Wasn't that mechanic only to determine if you greatly outclass your opponent and thus get a bonus? You won't need it all the time though. But I do think that's awesome. It always bugged me how beefy or skilled heroes are susceptible to a low d20 roll even when facing a trivial opponent / task.

You don't really need the table. You just have to remember +1 or -1 if you are double or half of your enemy.

Looks like a neat little game! Simple looking rules. I hope the final version has more stuff like missions and what not. Not really more rules per se, just more "stuff".

There will in fact be a TON of content in the core book. In addition to the modular adventures that players can use to create their own stories and campaign, there is also an included “Tale” which is a full pre-constructed story campaign.

My crew and I play this game, and it is a great little rpg skirmisher game. You will DEFINITELY enjoy this game! We did make 1 small change, though: we made it so you sacrifice your attack to double move, instead of your action. Since you can't attack when you double move anyway, being able to run and then act made the game flow much more smoothly, and shaved some extra unnecessary minutes off the game. I recommend you try it both ways, and see what you prefer; it's just that me and mine fet we preferred it the quicker way

I've turned the whole game into an RPG. It's a great random framework that you can flesh out with basic improvisation. The great thing is that you're not dependant on everyone in your group showing up every time. You can mix & match players as available.

Reading that chart you pointed to and the demo rules, it looks like you were only supposed to spawn one unit of 3 skeletons at one of the spawn points, with the banshees in reserve.

When an Adversary unit is deployed for an adventure, the first model in the unit is placed on the board in a valid location allowed by the adventure. Then, all the other models from the same unit must deploy within 3” of the first. The models don’t have to stick together during a game (indeed, the activation rules will often force them to separate), but they will always set up together.

Fun thing. Because their Fantasy Series 1 has been a shipping mess, US/CA/ROW people who preordered are getting the rules as a free pdf (unless they decided to also get it anyways as part of their preorder). ~15 months of shipping and still not delivered.

I've been looking for something made for solo games from the ground up, so I will take a look. I do wish it wasn't tied so much into high fantasy as my games gravitate more towards gunplay these days.

This game reminded me not just Rangers of the Shadow deep but also Hero Quest, with all these AI rolls and to see what type of trap it is, etc.

Welp I doubt this game will ever hit retail release (blacklist games, KS drama etc... that is a whole story in itself) but the full rules are available to purchase on drive thru rpg. I think it is a solid game but I fear it may be DOA as long as it is owned by blacklist games.

Years later and Mark Latham should be ashamed of having his name on this game. Kickstarter remains unfulfilled with not much to indicate they spent the money on even trying to produce the game beyond the demo rules. Used kickstarter to get $75 off of backers and then another 25 off gamesfound, but added an extra .50 cent charge so you can't actually complete the purchase of the pledge (can't pay any amount under $1) to be eligible for a refund. And oh hey they are selling the pdf for $25 without even giving the pdf to their backers while flooding the reviews with fake accounts to coverup how blatantly generic and boring the game is. If anyone is seeing this years later steer clear of this game and Blacklist games.

This game seems a little bland to me. I hope they punch up the uniqueness of each hero and adversary or do something to set this rule set apart from Frostgrave, Shadows, Song of Blades and heroes, Witchin' hour, etc. I have a Double pledge of Fantasy I on the way and I'm totally on board for Fantasy II, I just think this game needs more development TLC to shine.
