In today's video we take a look at the Mac Ride kid's seat. This is the most game-changing product I've reviewed. Hands-down, if you are a parent who rides, you need one of these. This has completely changed the way we interact with our daughter and recreate as a family. I wish I hadn't waited this long. Learn more about the Mac Ride here: bit.ly/31Yo0ex

A few more things. 1) To all of you who recommended the macride, THANK YOU! Out of all the products I've reviewed for this channel, the Mac ride is the one that changed my life. Being able to ride with my daughter opened up an entirely new way to spend time with her. 2. I should have bought one of these for her a long time ago. I was hesitant because of the cost and because I assumed it contacted the frame. 3. This was little dusty's first ride on its and she is now a little champ she rides it a lot better now she stands up for bumps, she reads the terrain, and she loves riding with us. 4. Two ways they could improve it is because of droppers. They should tilt the seat forward more, and they should make a larger clamp to fit around the dropper collar. Apart from that, I can't think of a way to improve it 5) like all products I review, I did not pay for this. Macride sent this for me to review and test out and showcase. 6) Here's a link to the macride we use in this video: bit.ly/31Yo0ex

I was going to ask if they have a way to tilt the seat up / down for folks with droppers to account for the insertion post clearance or variance from head tube angle. Great vid!

Fully agree on everything. My son wanted nothing to do with his Strider bike before Mac Ride (right around 2y/o). I got a Mac Ride and he liked it but still wasn't super interested in his own bike. In the spring we tried Mac Riding again, and once he got a sense of how the handlebars worked, he wanted to try walking over top of his bike. A month later, riding almost every day, he was legitimately striding with it. Really really cool progression! Still loves his Mac Rides as well.

I watched this video and literally logged onto Mac Ride right after and bought one. I have a Thule Yepp Mini that is more age appropriate for my youngest at the moment (not 2 yet) but it is really awkward for MTBing. My knees hit the seat so I have to pedal with them out a bit. The quick adapter for the steerer tube is mandatory if you run a stem that is angular, and it weighs nearly a pound. You need a TON of stack height for it to work. Worst of all since the seat itself mounts to the steerer tube via the adapter, the stirrups hit the frame once you hit around 45 degrees of turn. Really looking forward to trying out this Mac Ride soon! Thanks again for a super useful review Hardtail Party!

That is so cool... ! I wish i had seen these when my Daughter was a little smaller. She is learning to ride a two wheeler now so were hard at work mastering that at the moment. Side note. I received my AL Middle child frame and built it up a week or two ago and have been shredding ever since. Wanted to ride Sedona tomorrow morning around sunrise since i only live 45min away. Wanted an opinion on a trail ride. Thinking about Teacup to soldierpass to grandcentral. or Axis to cocks comb to outerlimits. For reference Slimshady is one of my favorites. Haven't ridden any of the 3 H's yet but coming soon.

I decided to go with the shotgun seat but wanted this one as well. My stearer tube is pretty short on my hardtail so the mac would not have fit unfortunately. Looking forward to receiving the shotgun though when it comes in!

looks like a great product just missing one tiny thing tho. i would love to see it included with a litle screen to protect that tiny smiling face from small particles like litle rocks and such. or ride with a fender to prevent this. love the channels of both you and your wife. keep up the great work

You won't regret it. My advice is to start out on paved trails for a few rides 'till your little one gets the hang of it. Then transfer to dirt. We don't have any paved bike trails here, so we picked the easiest dirt trail we could find. It definitely would have been better for us to start on pavement first. You're going to love the way your kid interacts with you on the bike, pointing things out. The best part is being able to talk with them as you go.

Which trails did you hit? Not as many “family friendly” trails in Sedona.

Any updates on the MacRide? Are you still as big of a fan as the little one has grown? Have you tried any other child seats? Thanks for posting. I have WeeRide child seat and am looking for something less bulky. It was great when my little guy was small but I thinks it’s time to upgrade.

I have a MacRide and cannot stand comfortably on my bike when I’m riding with my kiddo since my seat is so high. Have either of you experienced this? Or anyone you’ve encountered? If I just lower my seat then my legs do not extend

I have a Wee Ride which my little girl loves, but it's such a pain getting it on and off the bike that it makes me want a second one so I can just leave it on there permanently, this one looks so simple though! How old is your kid? Mine just turned 2 and I'd be worried about her trying to leap off as she is quite unpredictable and used to being strapped to her seat...
@hardtailparty
@hardtailparty 4 года назад
Her feet are strapped in on this device. She couldn't leap off.

Do you think this would work well on a cross bike as well?
@hardtailparty
@hardtailparty 4 года назад
Yes, provided you stick to pavement. Since the kids are seated the whole time, all vibrations are transmitted to them.
@ryanakins2565

Did you a seat for when she was under 2? About to have 1 year and looking for something good.
@hardtailparty

I'd wait till they're 18 mo min. Their necks aren't strong enough to withstand the jarring from bumps before that.

Shotgun clamps on your frame. This one doesn't touch your frame.

Luke I have a shotgun on an aluminum hardtail and love it and love my time with my 4 year old! I'm sure they are both great products from what I can tell and if Steve likes the mac ride it must be great! Love his opinions on products!
@theGiver3
@theGiver3 4 года назад
And the shotgun rider is 50 bucks cheaper, that's the one I'll be buying because of price.
@hardtailparty
@hardtailparty 4 года назад
@@theGiver3 I have a shotgun sitting here in the box. They sent me one to test. I need to spend more time with it, but comparing the two, the mac ride is definitely worth the extra $50. WAY faster and easier to install, zero contact with your bike, and a better seat for the kids. My wife and I often swap the mac ride between our bikes during a ride. It takes 30 seconds and it gives our kid a break. The only reason I'd go with a shotgun is if I didn't have room under my stem for a macride. Both products do a great job of getting the kids out on the trail with you, and that's really what matters. But before I had these in my hands, it was a toss up for me between the two, judging by the info I saw online. Now that I have both, I'll recommend mac ride every time. I have no affiliation with either company. I don't make money from them. They both sent me their product to try out. Seeing them in person, the difference is definitely noticeable.

@@hardtailparty I just bought a SHotgun and am thinking of returning. The bike would be on an old hardtail that I wouldn't be concerned with the frame. The seat for the Macride looks like it is cupped more than the Shotgun. I am thinking that it would be a bit safer for them but not sure. DO you have an opinion on the seat difference of the 2 specifically?

I wanted to write: "Should've hit the tiny drop at 2:58", but then I compared it to the wheel size and maybe you were right not to.
@hardtailparty
@hardtailparty 4 года назад
Yeah, baby's necks aren't super strong and their heads are disproportionately large. So whiplash is a real concern. This is about as rowdy as we'll get for a while.
