First look on a selection of pipe tobacco from Germany

Excellent selection of tobacco Nathan. Waiting for one of those new Turkish Pesse Canoe I also chose the 20% from Tabak Traeber in Germany. I enjoy the SG CH flake & Raiko in between. The SVH & St Bruno were once my favourite light aromatics before I started smoking those posh US blends😂 and of course the salty dogs. The rest I still need to try. Take care mate👍

Excellent video, Nathan. What a delicious list of blends. I have some of those blends sitting in my cart, with the exception of Pesse blends. Maybe soon here in the U.S. Mark from The Bremen channel is a historian, his videos are very entertaining and educational. I've enjoyed his channel for many years now. I may have to check out that Vertigo pipe lighter, whenever I go out on a hike, 7000 ft. + of Elevation I notice my lighters stop working. I always keep matches at hand as a backup. I have a ten year old cigar torch lighter from them. It was a reliable lighter until recently. Thanks for your video, excellent content as always and looking forward to your review on those blends. Some very nice tobaccos, im looking forward to your review on the HU Coming Home tin especially, i enjoy floral blends so i hope it turns out to be a nice smoke. Ive also not tried any chocolate blends but im interested to see how they compare with one another. Hope you enjoy them all Nathan

Just forgat about my last comment. Obviously you know about the GH and SG tobaccos. I was very much wondering to see that you ordered the S.V.H. by DTM. I have that one, too. It's made of very good virgias with a vanilla flavour rather on the not sweet side, but being present, eventhough it's considered a high aromatic. I like it very much from time to time. - Side note: Michael Apitz mentioned once not to cellar aromatics because they will turn out to be dead in aroma. I think that he was referring mostly on the back cavendish aromatics, but I'm not sure.

I am surprised you haven't tried any Torben Dansk blends. The Burley is to die for. Also side note, Mysore Virginia is made in India and is one of the sweetest naturally honey flavored Virginias. It is usually used for blending because it is so sweet. And Pesse Canoe (named after an ancient wooden canoe found in an archeological site) the Oriental flake without Latakia is the best! I smoke it all the time and that brand (Pesse Canoe) is the only 100% Made in Turkish tobaccos in the world! The flakes are 2 or 3 mm thick. And you need to rub them out into powder and break up some chunks. Packing you should make a layer cake of powder / chunk / powder chunk, powder, etc in the bowel. The Pesse Canoe tins are not sealed but if the humidity is over 50 % in your house you don't need to jar it. It is only available in Asia Spain and Germany. The rest of the world can't buy it. It is very rare and special. Enjoy! PS. Read the English on the back of the tin. It's full of typos and bad grammar haha.

Salty Dogs is up there in my top ten as is SVH and of course good old St Bruno flake, the others I haven’t yet tried and a good choice of lighter too. I’ve had mine for about 12 months now it’s now a copper and grey colour, well worn in.

Another delectation for us tobacco lovers Flanagan is a delightful blend from HU and also HIGHLY recommended in the United Passions series is Dockworker - don't overlook that one Nathan, its an awesome burley based blend. The 'Hommage to my Friends' series by HU also has some exquisite blends (which includes My Red Fox, yummy) - Old Fredders Broken Flake and Haddes Best Irish are especially nice. I must look out for those Pesse Canoe blends, esp. the 20 lat and the oriental which look particularly interesting. I enjoyed Mark's (Bremen Piper) recent presentation video on them.

I got myself some Raiko which I havent tried yet and some SVH which I was a bit disappointed with after trying a small bowl, but need to give it some more time I think. I got more of a creme brulee tin note which is not what I was expecting. Interested to hear your opinion on these two ☺️

Great video! I do have a question for you though. What do you think about taking a pipe tobacco that you like and putting it in a pasta press to make a tobacco cake? Do you think anything will be lost or gained by converting a ready rub into a cake?

Uncle. . let me tell ye a wee story. Since watching your channel a month or 2 ago and enjoying your reviews I got really excited to order from our German friends. . Registered my address and spent hours looking through scores of different leaf. . had nearly 2 kg of deliciousness in my basket for just under 200 quid. It was so, so inexpensive I couldn't believe it. Anyway. . shortly after my order went through I was delighted to receive an email from our German friends that they don't deliver to Northern Ireland. Some political bollox . . the order was cancelled for a refund. This video is gonna hurt. Haha. I did treat myself to 5 new blends this weekend . have a great day my pipe Uncle, Ronan
