When the current 308 launched, I immediately wondered, how are they going to beat this innovative and stunning design in the next generation? Well, with the evolutionary design of the new model they proved that they can be revolutionary every time. They have outdone themselves. Well done Peugeot!

My last fuel based car was a 2017 P3008, which I liked most of all 15 earlier cars I drove. Beautiful car, elegant inside, nice driving. I actually liked the iCockpit. After that I wanted to ‘go electric’ and ended up with the great Kia eNiro. A very good and efficient car, I will not return to fuel now, and intend to use most of the 7y guarentee period. But it stirs less emotion than the Peugeot. I fear for the price of this new 3008, but it definitively deserves another look if I would be in the market again ….

@pimeye
@pimeye Год назад
At last, some common sense i.e. thinking about range. With newer, sportier electric cars recently announced, what is the point of being able to go from 0-60 in less than 4 seconds when the car only has a range of about 200 miles, when the UK charging system is still pretty hopeless. Probably all advocates of those cars live in London and their longest journey is only 30 miles (and not sure where you can show off the 0-60 speed - probably on the M4 on the way to Heathrow to get their flight to Dubai, certainly not thinking about a holiday driving down to Cornwall). When charging an electric car takes the same time as filling up a car with petrol then range will not be an issue, but that won't be for many, many years.

There's nothing game changing about a nearly 100kwh battery coupled with an under powered piddly motor that only drives two wheels so it can't drain that battery too fast being able to go a reasonably long distance. Props to them for the design efforts, hopefully they can make it semi adorable, but they haven't changed the game.....at all.

Indeed! Takes longer to charge, costs more to charge. The only reason why ICE cars carry so much fuel that gives them range (historically) is because refuelling is inconvenient. You actually have to go somewhere to do it.

I'm really pleasantly surprised by this. My only issue with all of these cars becoming electric is their availability on the Motorbility scheme. The 3008 is a staple car on the scheme and has a decent enough deposit. This electric version is so expensive in comparison to buy that it either won't be available or it will have a deposit of thousands of pounds. We need more sensibly priced electric cars that every day people can afford and Motability will be able to stock.

A big battery means longer charging times, not so much range, things don’t always scale in that dimension. What you want is a small battery with a very efficient electric motor. A 98 kWh battery and a range of 435 miles/700 km means a consumption of 225 Wh per mile or 140 Wh per km. That means it needs a 140 kWh battery to reach the magical 1 000 km range that a lot of diesel cars have. Maybe once we get solid state batteries that can be achieved on such a small car.

Peugeot are experts at interiors, I am always impressed but I am often disappointed in the electrics. We will see what its real world numbers are like and how much they have improved. I they pull it off then it is actually looking pretty good for the French car industry.

This will be a Peugeot pushing towards £55k. That's madness. All manufacturers "moving upmarket" 🙃

I’d be absolutely shocked if this vehicle ever reached that claimed mileage. Tesla model S long range is looking at around 400 miles with a similar size battery, & that is one of the most efficient EV’s out there with battery tech & crazy efficient motors. It’s also way more aerodynamic than this Peugeot. Batteries are the most expensive part of an EV too, so I can’t see this priced in the £40 k’s with that size battery - more likely in the £60 k’s. Who’d buy this over a Model Y? With way more functionality, reliability, performance in any spec, charging network & reliability, & a company likely to be in existence for decades to come, unlike Stelantis who appear doomed in their current form.

It’s possible because it is a lot slower , because just like the EQXX Mercedes claimed they could achieve the crazy 747miles because it sacrifices acceleration and power output for efficiency and range. The Tesla variants are very efficient but also are x2 faster or more than this e3008 on standard acceleration settings.
