I bought one of these last week and was so impressed that I'm buying another. Just kills the regular Google Home. Far punchier/deeper bass response. It's also less fatiguing on the ears than the GH at high volume. Plus, it's louder. In short, it sounds like a bookshelf speaker, whereas the Google Home does not.
Hi OnkyoEU, great video. I am planning to buy a G3 to add to my Onkyo collection of a P3 and a TXNR686. I was wondering exactly what the micro USB port on the back of the G3 was for. Is it for firmware updates for example or can it be used for a connection to a laptop? Also, how many G3s can be grouped and controlled on one wireless ecosystem? For example both Sonos and MusicCast can have up to 32 zones or devices on one LAN/WLAN. Lastly, is there any way to link the Onkyo G3 to the Onkyo P3 speaker? Are there any apps that can see and control both speakers together? Thanks
Hi, the port you are mentioning is for service only and cannot be used for other purposes. Regarding the number of max. devices, we currently do not have information about the limits. Usually the number of devices is typically limited by network capacity in the home network. Please be aware that these devices are considered for home usage - not for professional PA in a skyscaper ;-). With regards to G3 and P3, these are different devices to be compatible with different services / for different target users...
Hello! Tell me, please, can Onkyo VC-GX30 play NAS music over the network and music from a smartphone not via Bluetooth, but via Wi-Fi, and does ONKYO NCP-302 do? Does the Onkyo Controller for Onkyo VC-GX30 work? I really hope an early reply! Thanks in advance for the answer!
Hi and sorry, but the NCP-302 and VC-GX30 are devices with different targets and different capabilities. The VC-GX30 is a Google Assistant driven device and relies on the capabilities and services provided by Google Assistant. So there is no built-in support for streaming from other local devices like NAS.
Silly question, but is this a mono speaker? What's music playback like? Is that what it is supposed to do, or is it more for radio and talking to robots?

Just realized this isn't a review but a setup guide. I've keep hearing that it sounds much too bass heavy giving a "one note" bass effect. Is there any way to adjust or equalize the sound? Or am I stuck with boomy bass that disturbs my neighbors.

I recently ordered the VC-GX30B from B&H and I'm looking forward to setting it up when it arrives. I have a question, I know the speaker is meant to be connected to a power outlet at all times, but would I be able to pair a bluetooth speaker to the VC-GX30B. So for example, I plan to have the speaker in the kitchen and want to listen to music while I'm in the bathroom. Would it be possible to pair a bluetooth speaker to the G3 and take the bluetooth speaker to the bathroom?
Hello Harry, interesting question/feature - but we are afraid it is not possible to pair a speaker to the VC-GX30 in order to stream music from the G3 to the bluetooth speaker...
Thank you for taking the time to reply to my question. I think the Google Home Mini is able to pair a bluetooth speaker and was hoping that the Onkyo G3 would do the same. No worries though.

I purchased my Onkyo GX30 speaker NEW from ebay this week, would this be covered by Onkyo 2 years warranty? I also noticed it does not place telephone calls as Google home does, Would there a firmware update to enable this in the future? It is very good speaker and google works well. The only little problem I have is that it automatically connects via bluetooth to my laptop without me asking connection and stops the playing music.

But please check with our customer care service for the actual conditions. Regarding firmware updates, we are afraid we cannot provide any outlooks on any future updates (as we do not have this information, sorry - and if we had, any comments might be subject to change). As for the automatic bluetooth connection, this is new to us. But the colleagues from customer care might have an idea/solution. Thanks for your reply. I didn't take a note of the ticket number neither Onkyo sent email of this. After filling my question on your online form I just got a message saying we received your query and will get back to you; but they never did. It's disappointing to learn that purchasing the item new from eBay disqualify it from the 2 years warranty. Samsung, LG and other companies still honor the warranty even when purchased from eBay so long as it's brand New.

When using the EU site, there should be an automatic reply to your support request placed by contact form containing your ticket #id (in order to track inquiries like yours). Regarding the warranty, we (social team) do not say you "disqualified", please do not get us wrong - we asked to check with customer care for further details to be sure about warranty conditions.
