First Look: Tactile Turn Side Click Pen

In this video I'm taking a look at the brand new Tactile Turn Side Click Pen (the copper mini and titanium short). These will be released on June 10, 2020 at TactileTurn.com. They will be available in three sizes (Mini, Short and Long) and four materials (Titanium, Copper, Bronze and Zirconium) as well as some special editions coming periodically.
There are some really unique details on this pen that are surprising and show just how much Tactile Turn has hit their stride in the manufacturing and machined pen space. These are excellent pens and I think they're a fantastic addition to the Tactile Turn lineup.

How DIFFICULT or not is the Pocket Clip to UTILIZE? The other style is a SERIOUS clip and VERY shy on moving, if you know what I mean. (P.S. I do have the bolt and regular top button plunger pens.)

Excellent question! These clips offer a small amount of spring to them but because they have a generous amount of space between the inside of the clip and the outside of the pen, I can slip it over my jeans or khakis pocket easily. I just tested it out on a pen case and my bag as well and it works on those materials as well. It’s not springy but it’s very functional.

If you HAD to chose between the click and bolt action, which one would you chose?? I think I could afford one, but not both without an uncomfortable conversation with my husband!

It would be the bolt action all the way. I love this pen but the bolt is my favorite. It’s a little more sleek in a pocket and has a more elegant look to it with the bent clip.

Can you chop down a pilot G2 to fit into the standard?

I didn’t have one that I could cut down without making a mess but it looks like it’s totally doable. Plenty of room in there.

So the short side click is essentially the same size as the BA standard?

The short side click is the same as the short ba but has the nock sticking out of the back. When the refill is deployed, it’s almost identical. I would say the retracted position ads another 1/4” or so to the short version.

How's the clip retention? Go in and out of the pocket well?

It really does. It doesn’t move a lot but it has a satisfying amount of tension when clipped over my pants pocket or inside my bag.

Matthew Morse how does it compare to the regular bolt action clip? I’m thinking of getting either a side click and bolt action, but I think the clip on the side click looks prettier 😅

Блят it’s roughly the same honestly. It’s different in that it doesn’t have the smooth “ramp” of the bent clip. But it’s got good retention and has a satisfying amount of snap when clipping to jeans or pants.
