I'm a sick old guy who as a kid of 13 was left to take care of myself, I got a 10 ft net I'm not saying how I really needed to eat, I watched a guy throw a 12 several times and asked some questions, I practiced in a park. For the next 15 years I fed myself and others and when I wanted I made some serious money. That was the early 70s I quickly moved up in size nets I could throw, up to 15 which was 30 across that open, I preferred a fast sink 12 which had a little extra lead, also the top panels were .177 which allows the net to hit the bottom quick as hell.
Raez I'm interested in catnet about 4 years ago then I practice to fish with only cast nets every possible small sizes and every possible way to throw within a year. Over a year later I learned to tie my own nylon cast nets then I build a 8 ft nylon chain net. Then soon after I learned about panel nets that's when all hell broke through, I build my own nets from sizes 10ft to 14ft. I even make a Side living from making net, I didn't learn some from local Cuban castnet maker
@@Fern1 Good. I was also planning to make my own cast net due to most net hole size too small that makes it SINK too slow to reach bottom of 15-20ft ocean - by the time the net reach the bottom, almost all big fish escape away. That's why I'm interested to build my own net with bigger holes/mesh to reduce sinking rate. What is your cast net mesh/hole size, 2 inch x 2 inch or 1x1" or 6x6cm or 7x7cm? And how heavy is your 14 ft net (lead/chain weight)? Most net on the market is under 1 inch which it's garbage (sink too slow) to catch BIG fish (swim fast up to 100 mph), that's why most Asians love to DIY b/c Asians are smart in math/science/engineering, cheers bro:).
Hi, I love your video but to much shaking. Mullet is my favorite fish, do you catch and sell them? I live in st. Augustine, can you tell me what pier is this?
destynie143 it’s a headcam , and I move around a lot. I catch and eat them. Nobody that clean and sell them. I still have of those mullet right now , I should throw them out actually or crab bait. And we,re quite far away from where you’re at
If you are looking for a good net Call (Ed Shuemaker 3865669097) or call (Tim Wade 3215082836) either one of these guys will build you a awesome custom net that you will love. They will help guild you into what net you need for whatever you are trying to catch. Typically we throw nets that are 1-1/4 squared mesh aka 2-1/2 stretched mesh) for catching the big roe mullet. With Ed or Tim you will be able to customize the net for the application) they will put however much weight you want on it. Ed will even custom color the net not sure about Tim, I use nets from both of these guys they are amazing nets. Also johnsoncastnets.com has good nets and Jimmy will custom build anything you would like as well. Any of the 3 I have mentioned will build you a net worth owning & you will love it. Hopefully this helps you out.
Come to St Augustine Mid July - September. More Mullet than you can handle! If you need a guide, message me when and how many people. I can put you on everything from Tarpon to bull reds.
Chop the back of the mullet's upper neck in 1 single strike of a Sharp-Heavy cleaver which will instantaneously destroys the spinal cord whereby the mullet dies in a flash with long duration of pain. Please NEVER slice open their throats which puts them in long duration of extreme pain.
