Hi first time I've watched you. As a veteran mum. A tip to get baby to sleep whilst you are awake is to put a radio on with talk back on a medium volume. My youngest had 3 older very loud brothers, I'd put the radio on with "talk back" or a radio station with lots of conversation going. Then he didn't notice brothers playing or me washing dishes or doing chores.

For noisier construction projects Max can wear noise canceling headphones. You mentioned plumbing being a good quiet baby friendly project, so I thought of the headphones! We have a pair of Baby Banz ones for our son and they come in handy for so many things from concerts, to riding on the lawn mower.

This reminds me of the night my family and I finally moved into our cabin when we lived in Alaska. The night we finally got "electric" lights was absolutely amazing! I imagined in that moment, how the people back in the 1800's must have felt when they experienced electric light for the first time...When you said "this is like the nicest shower of my whole life" ....that's what we felt when we finally got a generator and had electric again....just wonderful! Cheers!

Coming along beautifully. Loved watching the dog in the water. I used to have constant noise when my kids were sleeping. Vacuum, radio etc. sometimes quiet. Hopefully max gets used to his new sleeping place soon. I'm sure he will, it's super cozy.

I'm kinda laughing at the whispering, because the thunder is SO much louder. The day I came home with my baby girl, there was hammering and saws going on. She got used to it so no tippy toes necessary. Great progress and cozy❤

I feel ya!! I feel the highs and lows of living in the wilderness. That frustration felt when the generator is finicky, that jubilation of putting on the bug screens and you can feel the fresh Spring air in your home. The joys of running water, the lows of dealing with leaks or frozen pipes. The love-hate relationship with inconsistent internet!! I’m a wild swimmer (lots of rivers and lakes near our wilderness home), so I love to hear and see the splashing water in the baby pool. Currently our lakes are still frozen… we are anxiously awaiting the Spring thaw. We have ducks on our small pond, and we can hear and see the geese and the Sandhill Cranes way up in the sky. Any bird life on your pond? We are plant-based… we have a greenhouse and a massive garden… lots of seeds are starting to sprout in the kitchen growing station. We have pulled out the picnic table and set-up our fire pit. This is it… winter is in the rear view mirror. I can’t express how much I love watching your videos on a Sunday morning. Thank-you so much for creating and sharing with us!! Have a great week ahead. Ⓜary🇨🇦🌲

It is sooo nice to see how happy you are when you're all in one space! For us it was simliar when our son was born we were renovating an old house and my partner was working really hard on getting part of it done in time because we needed to love out of our old flat at a certain date. So we missed each other so much, because I was working very hard at home keeping everyone alive while he was doing the work at the house. When we finally made we were SO happy! Our house is still not finished but it was the best feeling in the world to share everyday life together again! It was the hardest time in our lives so far but worth it and now we value each other so much more. Have a wonderful time❤ Also for pool toys: we gave our little one just a plastic cup, a bowl and a little watering can and he was completely happy 😂😊

I was so inspired by your lovely heartwarming story about the cauliflower dish and why you made it when you did that I went straight to your link and bought both of your cookbooks so I could have that as well as your other recipes to enjoy and try out for myself. Cute .... babies grow in one of the noisiest environments (in a tummy) - I kept it going by using a radio or music to put in back ground noise all the time - made both mine sound sleepers with movement and noise around.

"Who even needs a container kitchen?" Let's see what the bears' activities turn out to be when coming out of hibernation and smelling food cooking aromas, I would def keep some bear spray handy and get some practice in using it. I don't think a dog is enough to deter bears when they are hungry and smell food....That's why campers have to hang their supplies high up in trees.

Hello family, I always thought they were going to turn on the containers because in the winter it is very cold there. and from what I've seen, they're going to leave the containers separate, it would make much more sense to have them all interconnected, even the temperature would be much more uniform in my humble opinion. they have so much space outside why make the divisions separate knowing the negative temperatures they face in winter anyway if it were me i would like all the comfort possible even more with such a small child hugs

Quick question.Given I may have missed the homestead intro and layout plan, sorry. Why is the hygiene structure so far from the home/house container structure? Upstate winters are challenging so I am curious. Have you planned to incorporate a hygiene room/space in one of the containers?

You want to make sure you include Freya and a lot more activities. You don't want her to feel chastised and isolated continuously around the baby. As long as one of you watches the baby and the other watches the dog take turns you will have a pup that will not feel as if she has to keep her head and tail down and the commanded all of the time and the presence of the child.

It's April sunshine so an umbrella isn't necessary. Babies need to have the sun in their eyes occasionally, get dirty and even hurt themselves (minor scrapes) to grow up healthy and unecessarily fearful. Modern day hyper vigilance with children is not a good thing imo. It's not about fault, it's about teaching children that life is full of adventure and to respect the natural world, not be cushioned or shielded from it. Even a little rain drizzle falling on a baby's sweet face is a sensory experience that can be awesome to a little human just figuring out his or her surroundings. Children pick up on our fears and worry, just like little sponges. Babies love mud too.

Absolutely I also think that we shouldn’t tip toe around children, because it is better to not make them too sensitive. I mean when they sleep a little noise must be okay, children can more easily adept than adults, we should consider this.

I agree totally, I kept feeling myself saying give him room to move, strapping him down and carrying is preventing his natural ambition to get going. He’s such a sweet boy, allow him some freedom with messy hands and grubby knees. And make some noise!!!!! Life is not a silent environment. It’s full of magic and wonder.

I think Freya has some bad hips. I've noticed it before in previous video's too. It's in the way she walks and stands. I used to have a husky that had some bad HD, and I found out because of the way he walked and stood. Freya does the same thing.

Hi Esther! Yes they are all kosher since all the recipes are plant based :) no meat or dairy or shellfish in the cookbook.
