Back with my first night stealth camping in the new van. It was good to be back on the road even if it was just for one night testing out the new set up. I have so much more space which I'm not used to but I'm really looking forward to getting on with the build to get the van in a more liveable state.

A good tip if you are going to do some urban stealth camping. Get some magnetic stickers for the side of the van like “wills pest control”. People won’t look twice at your van then.

There is a purity to videos like this one and channels like yours. There's no added drama or tricks that every television show uses to capture the audience. Tricks that have been boiled down to a concise formula over the years and have worked. But I just find their repetitive and manipulative in a way. But when I watch you camping in your car, cooking on your bed, or trying to find a place to sleep it's real. I know that somewhere in the world someone is actually doing what I'm watching. And that reality of it is intriguing and engaging. Even if nothing happens, like the cops can knock at your window or some weird stuff happens, it's just still entertaining. But now that you're doing the van build you get to see progress and in that is a bit of drama. It's fun to see the beginning the middle of the end of a project like that. I don't know, I'm a simple dude who likes the authenticity of seeing someone do a thing.

A good tip when forgetting what side the petrol is on is every fuel gauge has an arrow pointing to the side it is on 😊saved me many times

Honestly, I absolutely love your content. You're a real lad, not a professional van builder, not someone who's planning on living in it full time. Just a regular bloke I could go for a pint with and shares a love of buggering about, learning on the go, vans and camping. I feel like if we worked together we'd be mates from day one. Go to your van. Look at the fuel gauge. Look at the fuel pump sign. There is a little marker arrow to show which side of the vehicle it is located. Most vehicles have them on now. Thank me later. Ace videos. Thanks so much for taking the time to film and share. Maggie and MACK, Huddersfield

To Dave Goodridge - hey that's a rather good idea actually, especially for a woman. Only drawback is that quite often business vans get broken into for tools etc. I often thought I could put up a sign about 'horse manure' cos no-one would want to steal that !!! Ha Ha 😁

Your not a loser, you should be proud of what you have accomplished with your van build, your set-up is only temporary so it doesn’t matter what it looks like. I like watching your videos because we are doing our own van builds together, even though we are not together in any way. Bet its also nice having more room to move about that wasn't so easy in the galaxy. Just a few ideas for covering Windows maybe a roller blind with guides down the side to keep them close to windows. Also remember once you once you installed everything you wanted you will start to feel more inclosed

I think going out initially in an ''empty'' van is the way to go anyway, firstly for fun, but secondly it will give you ideas on how you want to configure the interior, which you can do gradually and tweak as you go along. Looks great fun mate, keep the quality content coming!

why i look at your videos: i have always loved living minimalistic. i have always hated paying rent to someone. so 5 years ago i went out and bought me a brand new caravan that i live in. i love seeing how you live and maby pick up some smart things i did not know about. and it is fun to see you building the van. I watch because a lot of videos on YT showing stealth camps, and general van builds don't show how things don't go to plan. And it gives sometimes, a false impression on things usually too smoothly - but in your case, you show all the bells and whistles with no frills on how things actually do happen in the real world. You need a wind/splash shield for your stove. I made one for my single burner Coleman camping stove using some 12" aluminum flashing. Remember to include some hold down tabs that go underneath so that it sort of locks to the stove. 5 gallon bucket + heavy grocery bags + eco gel deodorizing chemicals = camp toilet. They also sell a toilet seat that fits on a 5 gallon bucket for greater comfort. Oh and to add, definitely add a roll up awning to the roof of the van for shade in the summer and to catch the rain in the winter.

I watch because I stumbled across your channel whilst watching van life vids. I keep watching because you show everything, including mistakes and have a great outlook on life. It's also good that you put your mental health out there and I think that should be encouraged as many of us bottle things up. You also just do it whilst some of us just sit there dreaming. I have gone down this stealth camping rabbit hole a few years ago and watch Steve Wallis too, amongst others covering everything from camping out, bike packing and stealth camping. Will, here's a tip. If you're ever unsure which side the petrol cap is, look at the petrol icon on the dashboard - the little triangle arrow tells you which side, left or right!

Hi Wil, on the curtains, try using high powered magnets to secure it or just cutout a card board box, paint it black then put a small suction cup to it, it will be more neat looking and cheaper.

I use IKEA blinds in my camper, they are about £5 a blind and you just cut them to size. They are plastic backed, totally black out. I just made a wooden frame around the window to glue them to, then used some black plastic angle down each side as a runner. They work great and look nice when they are down. If anything happens to them it’s only a fiver to replace. I also use them as can blinds a bit like the really expensive built in cab blinds on motorhomes. Fitted a metal rail top and bottom of the windscreen for them to run on. Bought a paper hole punch that was big enough and slotted them on the rails. Use black plastic pegs in the middle to keep them shut without a gap. Cool first camp in the van. For your side Windows use the silver bubble wrap and make screens for the window. Drastically reduces condensation. I take a window vacuum as well to vacuum up any condensation there might be on a morning.

I watch your videos because I enjoy your accent and you seem like a genuine person that makes mistakes which is great to see. Fuel tank filler cap is easily found from the drivers seat ⛽️ The fuel gauge is positioned the same side as the filler cap on the instrument panel on the dash, and if not a little arrow will point you to the correct side.👍🏻

I'm always interested in van life. Especially when you're still using your Galaxy. I've seen a lot of people using normal cars like RAV4, Subarus and Prius as well having different set up. It amazes me how they get on full time living in their car for a year or 2 travelling. It adds up as well that you're easy to watch and gives a lot of tips! Thanks Will!

I think the main reason I like your videos are because you're relatable and normal (I mean that in a good way, even though it might not come across lmao). As in, your personality isn't unrealistically blown up for RU-vid to an annoying level (which seems like what most content creators do), but the content is still entertaining.

I like watching these videos, cause for some reason, it's relaxing. I envision myself trying this. I'm disabled, in a wheelchair but, if I could I think I'd enjoy trying this. And like you said, something about tight places to sleep,feels cozy. I like your van. I look forward to fixing it up. If only the house less,could afford to do this, to at least sleep unbothered .

Great start and important in getting used to the van now and seeing what needs attention, while you can still change it….I think it was actually a very sensible outing, regardless of how odd it felt.

Hi Will, to answer your question, I’ve had a keen interest in buying a camper van. I’ve converted a RAV4 to a micro for now and have done a good few stealth camps myself. I fish a lot and living in ireland, we have lots of remote places. Lots of free places for campers/caravans, but plenty of private ones too. Would love you to come over here at some stage and check out what we have to offer. You could spend at least a month here and still not cover even half the places. Check out the wild Atlantic way. Be right up your street. Love the videos. Keep doing what your doing. Can’t wait for the next video 👍
