Yes. One time I used a local oil change shop. My at the time was taking up a lot of my time so I decided to use the oil change shop. I used them for several years. Later on I switched jobs and started changing my oil again. The first time I did it the oil filter was barely on with just the minimum amount of finger pressure. I could twist it with just moving my fingers. It was probably tighten maybe a 1/8 of a turn after contact. The oil pan gasket they used was a universal size one. It was obviously too large for my plug. But they had centered it so it would seal. When I looked at the impression on the plastic gasket I could see that the edge of the oil pan plug was less than a millimeter away from the edge. I had specified Mobil 1 so my engine did okay. But I was so close to having oil leaks. I know they barely turned the oil filter to make it easier for them to take it off without a tool. They were saving on inventory by using a larger size plug gasket to cover different sizes.

Got tips for when you get back to DIY on the oil change… 1- Put your oil filler cap on top of the hood latch mechanism. (Can’t shut the hood until you put the cap back on.) 2- get yourself an impact driver (Ryobi or Makita depending on budget) to speed up removing that herd of 10mm bolts underneath. Good move stopping when you found the gasket. Too bad your dealership sucks. Probably worth it to drive a hundred miles to a better one.

I did my first oil and filter change on my 22' Maverick at about 1,300 miles. That's good you found that oil leak and it was fixed but also sucks that the dealership didn't respect your Maverick. I had the same experience with the dealership. The oil change tech seriously got mud inside my trucklet ........ It had 5,000ish miles at that time aka spotless interior. I'm only getting the oil changes officially documented, I'm fully capable of doing my own maintenance. So I went to an NTB (where I had good service for many years) and after 3 oil changes they also disrespected my interior. The last straw was after they exploded an oil pump under the engine leaving the engine dripping with oil. I have the AWD non-FX4 ...so it has the compressed fabric aero plate with scoop for the PTU. I couldn't put it back on because so much oil was dripping. Good thing that oil change was free I'm never going back! Lastly, I have one video on my channel. It's of a good enough view of the turbo. It's a tight space so I used my cellphone for the video. Ford is using a servo instead of a vacuum to open and close the waste gate.

You can make future skid plate removal and install a little easier next time, the rear 2 bolts can stay in the vehicle just loosen them ~1/4" - 1/2" then work your way to the front ones, with as the front ones come out the whole plate will want to kinda hinge down, when she's all drained and refilled putting it all back together is a little easier because you can slide the back end in aand swing the front up and get a bolt in the front to hold it up. The hood latch cable broke at the handle when I went to do an oil change. Took it to the dealer and they stated that both hood latches were also bad and wanted to charge me $800+. Don’t think so!! Had them replace the cable only then the next day tried to open the hood and nothing. Found a RU-vid video showing how to open the hood thru the grill and once opened, looked at both latches and found both return springs laying in the bulkhead area. Had to remove the bumper to access the latches to fix the springs then do my oil change. Took pics of what I found then had to return the car to the dealer for another recall repair. Showed them the pics and they didn’t care. They called me to ask how to open the hood and I told them to go find it on RU-vid.
