After just getting the LandCruiser troopy it's time to replace all the oil and fluids in it to make sure everything is correct, the first step before I start modifying!

I have a year 2000 HZJ78 and have also had a VDJ78, there are many reasons to love the older LC70 and the rear diff lining up much better is a bonus, not to mention the lack of electronics 😁

Hey mate, another good trick with the fuel filter is to flip it upside down and install the mount bolts again and crack the filter. Not loose just enough to make it easy to undo. Saves trying to get in there to crack it first.

Hey Mate, 4th time Cruiser owner here... After owning A 60 an 80 and Hj47, I'm currently doing up a 2000 Hzj78 myself, mechanicals and paint all done, and have started on electrical and interior now... Keeping it pretty original/standard looking, but doing a high function camper fitout in the back... Have now subscribed, and looking forward to seeing yours progress...👍 PS, Hot tip for all the holes in the back floor- stainless rivets and rubber grommets for the bigger holes are your friend, better than welding or mucking about with sealant... Mine literally had 100's of holes... Cheers...Matt..

That's definitely the way to go i think! Ah dam I fixed up the holes with silicon the other week. I didnt even think about using rivets.... that's probably the best fix, ill be doing that with any more holes i come across. Cheers mate!

9:25 "Any brand will do" well maybe but maybe not because Toyota (and generally Japanese cars) hates silica which present in many aftermarket coolant. The concentrated Toyota Red is Phosphated-IAT, and the newer Pink one is Phosphated-HOAT. I would use original Toyota Red for older cars as they might still have bronze components in the cooling system and just replace every 2 yrs as recommended by the factory. 4L of concentrated genuine Toyota red is $50 which makes buying aftermarket ones not really a cost saving option. Plus it feels good 😄

It's a really a hot topic green vs red. I've seen people use green in LandCruisers with no issues, same with the ones that stuck with red. Green was just the one I happened to grab at the shop plus it didn't really matter as you seen I was doing a full flash. The green coolant I got has no silica in the mix, same with the red ones I seen. Thats surprisingly cheap coming from Toyota haha but I definitely agree it's alot safer to stick with the colour from the manufacturer

Hey mate, a guy offered me a old troopy similar to yours fairly cheap but its a bit older than yours it being 1988 model. I would love to do it up for camping and offroading but I'm a bit worried that the old 2H motor in it might be too gutless to carry all my gear and shit while i go camping. I was wondering if you had any suggestions or ideas to solve my problem?
@Buildin70s
@Buildin70s 9 месяцев назад
Really depends how cheap. I went with the 2000 onward because of the coil suspension in the front. A lot of people do survive with the 2H but honestly I wouldn't personally go for a 2H, i found even with a 1hz in the troopy it does slow down going up hills even when unloaded but that's something I'm used to now and it's not much of a problem. In saying that though if the price is pretty cheap it wouldn't hurt to go for it, you can always sell it for the same money later or even swap the engine out with a 1hz. Cheers
