How do you define “late”?!?! How late are we talking here when they’re called ONLY after they’ve been told the police would need additional personnel with specific type of training that only SWAT offers. Did you expect them to go after grocery store thieves BEFORE the police do, or do conduct traffic stop and chase them if they take off; would that have been a more appropriate dispatching priority??!!?

@@see-rious-ley I know people hate to be corrected, so I apologize for having to correct you. SWAT aren't the only ones capable of addressing those calls. A lot of cops are veterans and do carry long guns in their vehicles. Some regular patrol guys are way better trained and experienced than SWAT. In some cases. With my department, that's definitely the case. To answer your question, late is when SWAT arrives to control the scene rather than address the threat.

I’ve worked with veterans and I know what they usually end up taking as a job after they’re done with their service. It’s not even about what other units are capable of; they’re still NOT SWAT. If they’re not SWAT they don’t do what the SWAT does. Is this a hard concept?!?! If they’re not needed then they would have been disbanded. I was making a point that they’re not the first called upon simple infractions that fall under normal policing protocol; they’re the FIRST to be on the scene when their expertise is needed. Other skilled police forces are surely better than none, but that’s not the point of when the SWAT is needed. The law enforcement personnel are much appreciated regardless of their expertise; I was merely pointing out when each might be called upon and it’s usually in a certain order.

@@angryjarhead less than 10 percent of us saw any combat in the service. Sure, we do a bunch of drills that are good training but over 90% of us never use it. Everyday a video is posted of a trooper, deputy, officer or agent getting into a fist fight or gun fight. On top of that, they don't get to walk around on base all day doing drills and PT. Most get thrown on the streets and stay there until the leave. Considering that the current political climate is not conducive to their welfare, I respect anyone willing to sign up for law enforcement.

A lot of police officers and most of SWAT officers are prior service and most SWAT officers served in the military as some sort of SOF unit. So they aren’t just wannabes. Especially not LAPD SWAT. Major city SWAT units train with Seals and Delta Force operators. LAPD SWAT is a full time SWAT unit and you are pretty much guaranteed to get into a gunfight all the time.

You do understand that there isn’t some SWAT standard like there is SOF standards right? Some SWAT teams are well funded and highly trained while others are just regular officers with different uniforms

Well you should post some videos of your training. I see you got zero videos. Your training has been so exiting, so hard core, so bad ass, you never thought to document it and post it. I’m sure you are rappelling down skyscrapers with an MP5, practicing room clearing by yourself through your kitchen to the fridge as you grab a bud light and a slice of chocolate cake, and then tactically turning away from the fridge while yelling out “MOVING” only to answer yourself with “MOVE” as you move with a quickness back to the couch to catch the end of the latest episode of 90 Day Fiancé.

Swat is mainly a joke. Even the cities with money, they are better than beat cops, but that isn’t saying much. You need to do the practice a few days a week and definitely more on your own time.
