Come with Sam & Eb in their 4WD's on a mid winter mission into the Dawes Ranges. This State Park has been very hard to access for over a decade now. The road to the East of this location is long lost and the access from the west is one big rain event from being sealed forever.
This was one of our most gruelling QLD missions as the location required a 10 hour drive in and the mine workings are via vertical shafts only.
A reminder to all QAM viewers that entering abandoned mine workings is not advised and can be lethal to untrained, inexperienced and poorly equipped explorers.
Support good music by clicking, listening and purchasing Jake's music here. Any revenue from this video goes to him.

You guys as a team you are very knowledgeable in your field, the way the team research on the history and the experience in rock climbing and descent with ropes, you guys are professional, I am proud and happy to have viewed your program and witnessed the hard work the team put up with. It is not easy!!!.

@@pauldacostafreitas9017 Thanks for the very kind words Paul! We started this as a passion project and it's become a lifestyle now. Even though some of these workings have been up in the hills untouched for decades, there is a sense of urgency in what we do. Land access is getting increasingly difficult and the workings don't stay accessible forever. Very few early 1900s mines are still open. A lot get destroyed from modern exploration work too. We very much appreciate your comments and thankyou for tuning in mate. Eb. QAM.

Great effort team. Excellent video and commentary. Wish I could be with you on this awesome trip. 117 years yet looks untouched from last extraction day. Just to survive in such tough country as a hard-rock miner fills me with deep respect for our prospecting pioneers and their true grit. Thanks for a memrable trip. Keep safe.⛏️⛏️⛏️⛏️⛏️⛏️⛏️⛏️⛏️

Thank you so much Robert. It's comments like yours that further fuel our passion for these deep explorations and digging up hard rock mining history. Sam and I now have a track record of some epic quests in the bush! This was a memorable trip for us and we are glad you could join in on the premier. Have a great weekend. Regards. Ebenezer. QAM.

👍 It blows my mind how the old timers prob got there by horseback and then dug out by hand.. Impressive effort

@qldabandonedmines 11 месяцев назад
Agreed my friend. We spent hours looking for a milling operation and found nothing. So all that ore was shipped down from high up in the range.

That was one hell of a journey just to get out there. I've never seen guano that built up before. I know the smell and that must have been unbearable. If you're brave enough you could reopen that one as a fertilizer mine lol
@qldabandonedmines
@qldabandonedmines 11 месяцев назад
Hahaha. It was a testing but memorable few days in the mountains mate. We discussed the Guano mine also. The mine would need a very strict "no smoking" policy underground.

Thanks for tuning in my friend. The first shaft I climbed was at Mount Perry in 2021. It was one of the most terrifying experiences of my life. I've since climbed about 50 and almost all of them go nowhere. Only shafts that have been remediated or worked in the 80s still lead to drives. The rest are full of composted material and dead critters. Eb. QAM

I have a property in nsw, we where able to apply and close then purchase the crown road that ran though our property, so its no longer has public asses on it. Dont know maby same happened with the property you first tried going though, I know ours still shows on most maps as a road when its not any more.
@qldabandonedmines
@qldabandonedmines 2 месяца назад
@@rosemariebutler-zy8xo Even if it was still a road (government recource cadastre maps still show it as one) the people nearby were not keen on us going up there that way and we were respectful of that. They probably put up with a lot of idiots doing stupid stuff in the past I'd say.

Nice fault. That isn't why it's called a hanging wall but I guess you know that.
@qldabandonedmines
@qldabandonedmines 6 месяцев назад
That terminology pre-dates Aussie hard rock mines. Lantern and hats were hung on the "hanging wall" in mines over 300 years ago. Our guess is that term made it's way to Ozz via the early European miners.

All the mineral exploration reports that span over 70 years show soil sample gridding and aerial radiometric reports. No exploration companies have taken samples from the reef.

Yes, a literal thriving bat habitat. To push any further in we would have needed to do it at night. That is when almost all.the bats leave to hunt for food.

When Are you going to do a Gympie shaft?
@qldabandonedmines
@qldabandonedmines 11 месяцев назад
The Gympie shafts linking to all the big stuff (GED) are all capped mate. We are currently working on a Gympie Gold video though. It will take some time though as the Gympie history is rich! We are planning to cover Nash's Gully and The Scottish Mine site as the primary story
@shipshape6918
@shipshape6918 11 месяцев назад
@@qldabandonedmines Looking forward to it as there is so much time capsuled history under that town, mind you most of the shafts and drives are probably flooded. Some of those shafts in the Gympie region were sunk anywhere from 100 to 1200 metres in depth.
