I would suggest the padded biker shorts. I just got my bike+ and started riding Monday. So far no butt pain.

Thank you!! I will have to get some until I get used to the seat! It's hard to get through a longer ride with the current pain.

It's not the seat that hurts. It's your sit bones - they don't like seats the fit properly that don't steal energy from your stroke. This will get better after a few rides. Also, your seat was too low for your height and the seat appeared to be adjusted a bit too far forward - both of these things will cause additional discomfort - your knees, for instance will hurt if you continue to ride the way your bike is adjusted right now. Big comfy seats may seem great for seldom riding - they're terrible for exercise. Padded bike shorts are a great way to 'break in' your butt - the Peloton seat is a very high quality seat. Your back hurt because you didn't watch the introductory videos that teach you how to adjust the bike.

I did watch those actually I thought they were really cool! I followed all the videos to adjust the bike. You are right I had the seat height at my hip instead of slightly above - when I did it higher it was hard to get on and off the bike because it felt too high up. To be fair I've had my other bike at my hip as well and never had as much discomfort. I'm going to keep at it and maybe I'll double check the adjustments and see how it goes. So far I'm 3 or 4 rides in and the seat still feels terrible. My back has been fine now! :)
