These 2 teams met in 1996 and 1997. Amazing, both times the better team lost. I am a tribe fan and first thing I will say is that the Orioles totally outplayed us in 1996. Then somehow we prevailed in 1997. Marquis Grissom’s game 2 home run was the pivotal moment in that series.
I was an avid Indians fan back in the 90's. Our pitching was really embarrassing this whole series, but particularly in game 1. Baltimore's offense really had their way with us.
I'm shocked a great game in Baltimore and it's not raining haha. It feels like come baseball season it's always raining in Baltimore. I went for the 30th anniversary of Camden Yards when they played the Pirates and it rained the entire weekend.
As an Orioles fan, I just never had a strong emotional connection to the Orioles in '96 or '97 like I did with the teams in the 70s, 80s, or even during the Buck Showalter era. Maybe it's because the teams in the 90s had big-name players instead of young, scrappy players who were trying to prove themselves.
Funny, I hadnt seen a game from this era in a long time. Seeing the stats by both ofenses is pretty shocking. EVERYONE in the Os lineup has 20+ HRs. Cleveland has several power hitters and several hitters who are hitting over .300. Today there are very few players who are hitting over .300 in both leagues. There may be more hitters in this one game hitting over 300 than the entire AL right now. This is certainly the steroid era.
The Orioles ownership destroyed this franchise. I can no longer support the trash that they put on the field today it's disgusting whenever we develop a player we got to trade them off because we don't want to sign them to a long-term deal and we got to rebuild for the next 5-6 years to get a good player and trade him off and do it again. I will no longer support a losing franchise that's not trying to win.
I hope somewhere , you’re still not feeling this way … this is one of the greatest turnarounds in history taking place right now … I’m so happy for what’s to come … first 10 game streak since 1999
@@benjaminboehl2425 Orioles weren't beating the Yankees in 98. Especially when their dynasty took off. 96 Orioles they had a good chance at beating the Yankees and they didnt in ALCS. Yankees went on to win that WS and the late 90s dynasty began after that. Especially 99 too. Yankees were too good late 90s. 97 Orioles was the best team they ever had and Indians were too good that year. Yankees win record in 98 and best Yankee team of all time. 114 wins and 125 wins to win WS in 98 vs Padres. 98 Yankees was special here in NY.
