Oh beagles are great. My uncle had me lead the beagles on a hunt all the time because for some reason they followed me. I couldn't shoot for shinola but I'd get the rabbit heading my uncle and my dad's direction
I got laughed at for bringing a Dachshund who couldn't keep up with the beagles so she hung back with me & the others. A rabbit jumped out in front of us & Bella ran it down to shake it to death while the other dogs looked at us like "How come she gets to kill the rabbit?" She got 2 more that day & I never shot my .410 once.
I'm kind of ambivalent about it. One time,my Uncle had taken my brother &I hunting with him and a friend of his who was using dogs. My brother shot one of the dogs so the neighbor wanted to beat him for that. Our Uncle had the man stopped until my brother said "It was the dog's fault for being in the way. My Uncle just stepped aside.
