Demis Roussos is a Greek singer and performer who had a string of international hit records as a solo performer in the 1970s after having been a member of the sixties band "Aphrodite's Child", a progressive rock group that also included the well renowned Vangelis. He has sold over 60 million records worldwide. He dominated the romantic songs in the seventies and his great love songs such as ( forever and ever , goodbye my love . souvenir . winter rains . because . far away , shadows . spring summer winter ) and an endless list of everlasting songs

He was called The Man of the World. Everyday I listen his beautiful songs.

Yes, Demis was Greek. He was in one of the first Progressive Rock bands, Aphrodite's Child. Their keyboardist was Vangelis, who went on to compose experimental electronic music for movies and documentaries. Vangelis' most famous works are the Oscar-winning score for "Chariots of Fire", the amazing score of "Blade Runner" and many of his pieces were used in Carl Sgan's early-80s Science series, "Cosmos". Aphrodite's Child's first two albums sold a combined 20 million copies world-wide, so they were no small potatoes. Demis' voice was unique, for sure. Vangelis later recorded a handful of terrific albums with Jon Anderson of the band Yes -- another unique voice.

I’m just a bit older than you and brought back memories, he was a very popular singer back in the day. Born in Alexandria, Egypt by Greek parents and they moved back to Greece and during his teens meet Vangelis and Loukas Sideras and they formed Aphrodite’s Child.

I am used to watch videos of young people reacting about vintage songs, and they often bring me to tears because they are able to appreciate. Here I only see a sad lack of taste, consideration and knowledge about music story. You guys don't bring artist like Demis to americans to rate,,the taste in music is just different. Demis was so famous and top selling artist in Europe, Middle east, so don't do him injustice by asking somebody in the USA to rate him.

I disagree.. if you want to be in a position to evaluate 70s songs, I think you have to leave your 90s and 00s conditioning factors that, undesputibly, affect your judgment, otherwise you will only give a high score to those singers and/or songs that somehow recall the style and taste of those years.. in my opinion this is a superb song, and his voice is incredible, although I am older so in my personal case I have had the same effect but related to old songs.. and probably since it brings back good memories my judgment is not totally objective

I have never heard that Demis's voice agnoyed anyone🤣 Demis was in a pro-rock abnd in the 70s, the band was called Aphrodite's Child. Vangelis was also in this band(composer). It was an amazing band. Demis has one of the best voices in the world

I was living in Greece in the late 70s and I remember hearing this guy and his band. He was popular but all the music back then sounded the same over there. I kind of agree with you...it was always more like background music in the restaurants I went to. Good comments..

First of all i intensively respect anybody's opinion and choices to pick whatever he pleases in all fields.... But regarding to the huge effection has been made by the media to make people's mainstream through decades i understand how much majority of "americans" did not and maybe still dont functioning or even react positively "and that is their own taste they have built it through time" about such music or music comes out of USA.... so i respect that... But you have to have open mind to look around you... The world is not only AMERICA.... And its part of human culture to understand other places's history.. Religions... Traditions.... Languages..heritage . Way of life.... and not stick on what " media" may deliver to the masses and they unconsciously absorbed it for good.

I saw him at a live show in 1972 maybe 73 in Hanover Germany, while I was stationed there. They put on a great show, great band, but It was a crazy thing of it's time. Very odd.

Actually he was big in Europe his original band Aphrodites Child was a seminal European rock band which produced the keyboardist Vangelis who is now much better known. When I was younger and a rocker I did not much care for him although my then wife was a huge fan. Now as I have grown older and learned about singing I like him more.

His periode of enormous kitsch-music. Indeed in the period of Aphrodites Child nice pop music.

Oh yeah, I remember in my child days, he was also in Germany very popular and often to be seen and heard in TV shows and radio. Not my cup of tea either to be honest, I already prefered back in the days bands like AC/DC and Deep Purple...but I love greek food and restaurants:-)
