For more Equilibrium stuff, definitely check out Blut Im Auge, Die Affeninsel, or Wirsthaus Gaudi. All incredible songs, with the latter of them a legit soundtrack to Oktoberfest
Equilibrium was the first band I had heard (not necessarily the first to do it, just the first I'd listened to it) to add the folky elements and it brought an entirely new perspective to metal for me. It brought me to bands like Alestorm, Eluveitie, Korpiklaani, Turisas, etc. Absolutely love them.
Never heard this band before, but I definitely loved this song. I have to hear more from them. Good, but quick reaction and great musical breakdown of what was going on in the song. I've been a Hard and Heavy Metalhead for over 33 years, but I find there's still room to learn more. Keep up the great work, Chase!
if you loved this you may like "Waldschrein" its almost pruely instrumental though. "Der ewige Sieg" and "Born to be epic" are also quite popular from them =)
@@OrkarIsberEstar Thanks for the recommendations. I will be checking those songs out, for sure. I was an American soldier in Frankfurt, Germany and went to every Metal show I could. Ive always loved German Metal just a little more (somewhere I read or heard they were German).
@@hf5135 haha yeah we have some cool bands. If you want german metal ill recommend: "Neue deutsche Härte" Bands: Rammstein, Oomph, Eisbrecher, Megaherz (last 2 have "twin" vocalists that evena lmost share the same first and last name) Folk metal: Equilibrium, in Extremo Folk: Faun, Krypteria, Schandmaul metalcore: Eskimo Callboy Powermetal: Powerwolf Other Metal: We butter the bread with butter
Well, I just had to comment on this one, this band is after all the origin of my online nickname (as you see), from way back in the early 2000's. Have admittedly not been following them much over the last decade but they do come up once in a while. As usual very good reaction :) On another note, "Sólstafir - Fjara" would be very interesting to see you react to. And "Alcest - Percées De Lumière". Both are like nothing you have heard before, I promise.
This band cought me massively before 15 years ! Turis fratyr and Sagas ..it was something new.. that time. Firts song i ve heard was Widars hallem and i remember i was stunned. Epic metal!! every each song has something else , melody, breakdown, epic instruments.. i love them. Top band!
btw just sayin this is still my second favorite reaction of yours so far XD amazin job, still watching it in the morning to get up. your faces are just priceless^^
How cool is that?! Equilibrium was one of the first Metal Bands I really got into after starting with Nightwish and Stratovarius. And I love them so much since. Some other great songs are "Blut im Auge", "Wurzelbert", "Born to be Epic", or "Met". But since you are on this Track already you should checkout Battlelore, Turisas, Finntroll, Ensiferum and Wolfchant.
You could aslo Check out "Renegades" the Titletrack of their newest Album (also called "Renegades" :D). Some don't like it as much as previous stuff. I do enjoy it. Also because a RU-vidr I like, called "Skar productions", plays Bass and Sings on this new Album. Maybe you could Check out a track from their Performance at Summerbreeze 2019. Great Video, as allways. 👍
Their bassist Martin aka "Skar", has his own YT channel, where he does a lot of covers and stuff. It's "Skar Productions", Though this video seems to be before his time with the band. He only joined last year, iirc.
@@bazgab2738 I wish people would push the music that is truly exceptional that doesn't get play time. Slugdge and vektor literally have no music videos.
I love Equilibrium! Some of my faves are Blut Im Auge and Waldschrein. I particularly like Waldschrein. First because it means Forest Temple, so it makes me think of Ocarina of Time. Second because it starts with a frikkin rooster. And third because it's plain awesome!
Waldschrein ist der Hammer. Das Intro ist länger und besser als die meisten Songs gesamt^^ Edit: No idea why I wrote this in German. "Waldschrein is fantastic. The intro is longer and better than most songs overall."
I will keep telling you this, even if it doesn't fit to this song: Give Within Temptation another try. You could take their songs "Angels", "Memories", "Somewhere" (definitiv live from Black Symphony), "Mother Earth", "Ice Queen" or "the Promise" (also from Black Symphony). I love them because of Sharons beautiful voice but also because of their constant changes which you can best hear in (only my opinion) "dangerous" (feat Howard Jones), "And we Run" (Rapper Xzibit is featured there and I think it is amazing), "Faster", "Raise your Banner" (feat Anders Friden) or "Trophy Hunter". What Else to say? Keep uo your great work I enjoy every Video you release and constantly find new bands throught your reactions.
YES! i am a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge fan from Equilibrium! I paused for this comment, now i will watch the rest :D Thanks, Chase! Edit : Watched it completely now and you explained it perfectly. Equilibrium is perfect for some lonely days, if you know what i mean. They bring a smile on your face. You should check out "Blut im Auge", its with the old singer but still a cult-song from this band. Greets from Germany my friend! ---- Okay, you want a live Song : Born to be Epic at Wacken Open Air!
I love these guys! They used to only sing in German, which I loved since I speak it, but now are doing mostly English. Also, they no longer have any original members which I always think is weird. And Blut im Auge is seriously AMAZING!
Want Equilibrium live? Got to watch "Equilibrium live | Rockpalast | 2019" at Summerbreeze Festival. Song 3: "Born to be epic" is a lot of fun Song 10: "Blut im Auge" is classic equilibrium Song 8: "Heimat": That guitar intro never fails to give me goosebumps
Equilibrium is just pure happy music. As many others have already said, Blut im Auge, Wirtshaus Gaudi and Born to be Epic are other great songs by Equilibrium. I also recommend checking out the guitarists' other band, Nothgard.
Nice! At times this has some old videogame music vibes. I can imagine this playing in the background when I hack some pixelated monsters with a huge axe in a silly over the top fantasy game :D
I know I'm pretty alone in this, but my experience was: Straight to one of my favourite bands with the demo, really disappointed when Turis Fratyr was overproduced af. Kinda gave up then and there, but I heard Blut im Auge (ok), Rise again (ok) and Wirtshausgaudi (horrible). But then again, I gave up on Ensiferum with Iron. Maybe I'm old, maybe I'm a snob, maybe I just don't like the soft washed folk stuff.
I discovered Equilibrium and Wintersun on a folk metal collaboration album, and I only listened to the album because it had Korpiklaani, a folk metal band I already listened to. I’m so glad I checked that out. Wintersun is of course legend but Equilibrium was a nice surprise. I didn’t like the screaming vocals at first, but I’ve gotten used to them as I primarily listened to the band for their super-melodic folk elements in their music. Equilibrium is a great example of folk metal, possibly one of the better examples out there. In some of their albums they even have instrumental versions that sound just as fantastic (if not more so) without the screaming. You should definitely check out Blut im Auge and their earlier songs in general. I don’t recommend listening to their music after the Erdentempel album as their sound changes quite dramatically.
Hi Chase! Let me recommend Mägo de oz - La cantata del diablo (directo Diabulus in opera). Mago de oz is a folk metal band from Spain. This song is full of surprise. If you want, take a look at it.
This Bands was one of my first metal bands I was addicted to. My favorit song is "unbesigt" But everything from the album sagas ist worth to listend to
Hey Chase, I have just come across an awesome band! The Warning, from Mexico! Ever heard of them? Either way you need to check them out at your earliest convenience! Try "Survivor" live or "XXI century blood! After that "Black Holes" also live! You will be stunned! "You have been warned!" 😉
Unbesiegt or Blut im Auge are great songs. They changed almost every member over the years and the old singer sounds different. Waldschrein ist a newer song and one of my favorits.
check out "the ocean - jurassic/cretaceous" and "long distance calling - immunity". both are smart bands from germany with lots of stuff to discover for you. should be right up your alley. have a great day. greetings.
I honestly lost track of Equilibrium for a while. For me this song sounds very close to older songs of their 2nd and 3rd album. Maybe a bit too familiar. But I can see the freshness of the sound to a new listener. For me some of their songs really have that own Caribbean/Folk-Metal feeling.
Do you know Skar? He is their new bass player and has his own RU-vid channel "Skar Production", covering video game and movie songs. Can you watch him please? :D
great reaction my man! i just realized you havent reacted to any "Periphery" songs yet, one of the most technical bands on the market. please consider doing so, for example one of these songs: Reptile, Scarlet, Stranger Things, Luck as a Constant, Omega, Habitual Line Stepper, etc. :) \m/
Ohh Equilibrium!! such a good and fun band. You need to check out "Blut im Auge" (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fmmBeAQ0bgw.html / if you can't watch this then check out their official video) and "One Folk" (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HFTD1pkncUs.html)
thanks for the reaction - what about an older piece from this band: Mana - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5DiJw9wIibw.html oder Blut im Auge: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fmmBeAQ0bgw.html
Hey Chase! I ve been listening to you when i m working, for a while now. You have amazing content to share. You explain a lot of thing and it keeps me interested all the time. You shoul check out Ayreon songs aswell. Albums contain a lot of lead singers from different groups.
Pan pipes!!! This isn't really "head banging' music. It's "spinning around the dance floor" music, bop til you drop music. And if you've got pan pipes, you GOTTA have shoulder pads!!!!
This song reminds me of another one of them, called "Mana" - it's a 16 minutes beautiful epic instrumental song and there's no live version or an official video. Maybe you will check it for yourself, not for a reaction video... ;-)
@@ChaseCarneson nice!! And I really just wanna take the time to say thank you for all the work you've put into the channel. I've really loved your insight on music compared to other channels. You know your stuff keep up the awesome work!
I'm not much into their new stuff but they have some amazing albums! Please do something from Sagas, Blut im Auge seems to be the most requested, you can't go wrong with that one :) Here's a live video from last year, when concerts were a thing, remember? :'( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fmmBeAQ0bgw.html
This band is maybe one of the most melodic bands of all ? :) i think so .. they are really amazing composers .. And i would say , you choose bad song , for the first listening :/
This new Equilibrium is not good.. u must listen to first 3 albums :)) ... but albums Erdentempel and Armageddon is still better than the newest one. Widars hallen , Blut im auge, Stein meiner ahnen, Unbesiegt, Aufbruh, Mana, Kurzes epos, Der wasserman etc..
I like everything about this except the screaming vocals. The vocals ruin it for me. Not that they're badly done, I just don't like primarily screaming bands :/
I don't know. I'm still sad that this is what Equilibrium turned into after the demo, although luckily this isn't as overproduced as Turis Fratyr and not as... something as Wirtshausgaudi *shudder*. Favourites from the demo: Nach dem Winter, Met, Nordheim. [edit] Actually this is really nice. The demo is still better, but that's also a different genre. Anybody know if any of the original members is still there?
@@ChaseCarneson Weird reaction to valid criticism. And btw: Can't you realize - besides from the short part where he talks to the audience - that this is not live audio?! You keep asking yourself "where are the flutes and keyboards"...I was asking myself "why doesn't he understand this is not the live audio"...
