Anoana is born during an eclipse, and she is an embodiment of the Land and a protector of all living in it. She has the power to heal as shown by her resurrecting the dead sparrow. At the end she joins with her sprit animal, the Musk ox.

The lyrics for this piece are mainly taken from bracteates: golden, circular coins or amulets found in Northern Europe that date from the 4th to 7th centuries CE. They are often fitted with a decorated rim and loop, which indicates that they were meant to be worn and perhaps provide protection, fulfil wishes or for divination. Many if most of them written in a language or way that no longer exists so translations are often missing, Heilung simply used the ones that phonetically matched their idea of the song. This means that there doesn't exist a translation because the lyrics are not lyrics as such, they are more vocal sounds.

More specifically, these were found mostly in the nordic countries.Edit: but its from the bronze age, for ex.The Vadstena bracteate also read:Rituals and Language of Power by axel Hansen Also from reddit:Tuwatuwa is the vadstena one. "I'm a bit of an archaeology/Norse mythology enthusiast, so when Heilung incorporates the two into their music, it hits me in all the right places. After listening to "Anoana" I had to check out the lyrics, which led me down a rabbit hole learning about Migration Period bracteates. I eventually stumbled upon a database for artifacts inscribed with runic writing, and after a bit of poking around I managed to find four bracteates with inscriptions matching the latter half of Maria's part of the song. They're all inscribed in Elder Futhark and date between 400-600 AD. Since many of the bracteates have similar or identical inscriptions, these just happen to be the ones I found first. As of 2021 there's been nearly 1,000 bracteates discovered and cataloged, so this is all I managed to find in about an hour of nerding out. Tl;dr - I found where part of the song "Anoana" comes from: "Norwegian" Bracteate - "anoana" Vadstena Bracteate - "tuwatuwa" Søtvet Bracteate - "aelwao" Selvik Bracteate - "tau liiu""

i think if you are interested into nordic artists there is no other way than to discover eivor. she is a classically trained sopran with a masters degree in traditional nordic vocal techniques from the faroer islands and her versatility is unbeaten. falling free live at the old theater in tórshavn is easily one of the best live performance of any artist i know. she also made music for the last kingdom tv series and the computer game god of war.

RU-vid user @Nidels explained it best on another video: i: The lyrics for this piece are mainly taken from bracteates: golden, circular coins or amulets found in Northern Europe that date from the 4th to 7th centuries CE. They are often fitted with a decorated rim and loop, which indicates that they were meant to be worn and perhaps provide protection, fulfill wishes or for divination. The bracteates feature a very significant iconography influenced by Roman coinage. They were predominantly made from Roman gold, which was given to the North Germanic peoples as peace money. In Anoana, the listener has the chance to delve into a collection of likely encoded spells from the Migration Period and get a touch of magic from the Dark Ages. The intention of the piece is to playfully reconnect to an incantational language of a period where the North was richer in gold than any other region. Our forefathers presumably enjoyed a time of great prosperity and it may make us rethink how dark these ages real Above the sign on the womb of the giving birth mother is probably a painted version of Ægirs Hjelm/Aegishjalmur/Ægishjálmr ("Ægir's Helmet"), which is a symbol described in the Poetic Edda as a symbol of ultimate protection, physical, mental and spiritual referred to as protection against all kinds of fear "Ægir/Ægi" means "Sea" in both dialects of Old Norse and is also the name of the personification of the sea. "Ægir's Gate", describes the eddies that drag ships to the bottom of the sea. Ægir / Ægi has often been described as an old man with a long white beard, and to see him standing still in the water was a bad omen, as he surfaced to drag people and ships to the bottom of the ocean. Ægirs Hjelm is described in the Poetic Edda in a stanza with a shape-shifting dragon, Fafner, whose blood is poisonous. The dragon guards a treasure and, with the help of Ægirs Hjelm's spell, is invincible. In The Galdrabók, the symbol is also described as something "you wear on your forehead, between your eyebrows"). In any case, this must be taken with tweezers since it may be wrong. About the solar eclipse perhaps these images would be connected with the symbol of the black sun. For the ancients, the sun was the source of life, as it provided them with heat and energy. The lack of him was just the opposite. For the ancient peoples, it seems that the periodicity and continuity of day and night made us think not only of the existence of 1 sun, but of two suns, one bright and luminous and the other black. One represented life and the other death. This could be translated as the balance between light and dark and its connection to the world of the dead and the living. In it, the dawn of the day was interpreted as the rebirth of life and its renewal. That is why eclipses were so important for all primitive and ancient cultures: When the sun disappeared in broad daylight, they predicted that eclipses would bring about great changes, or that even in the worst case, the world could come to an end. This is the original letter: [María] Athilr Rikithir Ai Eril idi Uha Ijalh Fahd Tiade Elifi An It Athilr Rikithir Ai Landawariar Año Ana Fahd Tiade Elifi An It Aelwao Ano Ana Tuwa Tuwa Tau Liu Ano Ana Tuwa Tuwa [Kai] UL FOS LAU LAL GWUL PED UL ULD AUL LEI ELw ATH RET LAE TyS Otro REI GUI AU AU LA OA SEJS ZUL AU AL HaR HaS Ka TIL AZ Ha IR EL UNOZ LEIT Una DZ GUI UI THUL UHNG Ur OI WHUG DIT La La LIH LaL Ur USK GLa Jue LAL La La La TLG Jue TiL Ur Ur Ur Ur Gel THuL So Oth LAU IA TyL LI RAI WUI IL DAI TU Han UTH A IUr EL AL Dan An ERUI AL EIZ An RA TIU An KU AK The language is proto-norse. The language that the people living in scandinavia during the migration periode spoke in.Pre-viking era. The only words of Anoana's handwriting that are known with certainty is Landawariar (Protector of the land)

Hi-loong. Enjoyed your video. If this is your first foray into the world of pagan folk, you've entered a bigger and richer world than you might have ever imagined. Don't bother looking for lyrics. The band doesn't know what the words mean either. Suggest bands like Warduna, Faun, Grai, Otyken, Skald and my personal favorite Trobar de Morte. Look forward to more reactions.

That is spelled Heilung in German for healing And yes, they sing in Old Norwegian, German, English and some other Nordic dialects. So it's anything but gibberish.

Great reaction! I saw them in Stuttgart Germany when I was traveling in parts of Europe. If you like this version, the "live" version is stunning (Heilung:LIFA - Llyn Dain). Same song, different vibe.
