FIRST REACTION - Leonid & Friends - Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is

They are Russian and their covers are excellent - truly truly excellent

Chicagovich! These guys rock! Been watching thing for a year or two now, and I have the notifications turned on for whenever they release something new. They never disappoint.

L&F is the tribute band all others aspire to be. The talent assembled there is without equal with most of the members holding advanced degrees in their respective fields of study. Only 3 of them speak English at a conversational level. Chicago has never played in Russia not any of the countries that made up the Soviet Union so their music was not familiar to the musicians that make up the band aside from Leonid who headed up this project and presented them with the songs he wanted to cover. To do so, he had to transcribe the songs into sheet music for each individual instrument. This was a monumental undertaking. And he's done it over 40 times now and counting.

They’ve done multiple covers of Chicago tunes and every one of them is just as good or better than this one. Look at the names in the credits at the end. It’s hard to believe they are Russian

L&F is the best cover band in the world.

"I'm a man" and "Hanky Panky/Lifesaver" are a couple of my faves by this band....They are BETTER then the original band.

They do Earth Wind and Fire, with many more musicians. Perfect harmonies

This band is absolutely awesome

They also cover earth wind and fire. They did a song called September that is a must here. The respect they show to the music I grew up listening to is unbelievable. I found them on RU-vid year or two ago and can’t get enough of them.

The music I grew up on was priceless and these people show nothing but respect in their versions.

Have you discovered just how good these guys are? Have you ever heard of Terry Kath? Terry was a monster on guitar and the guy that plays his line seems to be Terry come back from the dead! This group is amazingly good! Listen to 25 or 6 to 4! It is mind blowing how good these guys are!

It should tell you something when you are viewing a video of a Russian cover band that has over 3 million views. If you listen to Chicago’s recording of a song and then listen to Leonid and friends do the same song I think you will be impressed. I saw them live twice last year when they toured the US and they were impressive.

For a person that claims she knows Chicago, let me tell you the first 3 minute intro into this Masterpiece has your face grimacing as if you seem in pain. Hell, L&F are as good if not better than the OG. Stick to rap and stop drinking the sour wine before the fine wine......you are no music critic!

The real Chicago band... LOVES that Leonid and his band are bringing their music back.... and KILLING IT !!!!

Been following Leonid And Friends for several years now,and they are the closest thing to the original Chicago Transit Authority sound you're likely to hear,and yeah,being Russian hasn't hindered their sound one bit.

I thought they were great. Sounded just like the original. It was a feel good kind of thing. Gave me a smile and so does your energy! 🙏

These are all classically trained musicians who have blown millions of people away with, especially, their tribute songs to Chicago. Even the main lead singer, who was doing background singing here, is the closest you will ever find to Peter Cetera. Take the time to listen to their songs, especially the Peter Cetera led ones, and you will have to be impressed beyond belief. If you're not, then you're not a real Chicago follower.

Leonid & Friends’ video of that song really allows you to appreciate the brilliance of Sergey Kashirin (lead guitar - Terry Kath reincarnated) and Serge Tiagniryadno (tenor vocalist, who I think sings better than Peter Cetera). As a young teen, I loved Does Anybody Know What Time It Is, so hearing Leonid and Friends’ spot on version blew my mind, although you’re right, the song is the kind you’d hear by a band on a Saturday in the Park, but many of Chicago’s songs were like that. I liked the rabbit hole comment here concerning this remarkable Russian band. I fell in a few years ago and need a Leonid fix on occasion. I’m blown away each time I return. If you like Vikki Carr, you might also react to another member of Leonid’s band, Ksenia Buzina’s One Last Cry, an amazing cover of Brian McKnight’s 1993 hit. You can thank Leonid’s recording for me finding you. Looking at your list of videos, I’m guessing our tastes in music match. We’ll see.

Serge sings his part from Kyiv the rest of the group is in Moscow. They have toured the US several times.

My 5th grade (that was 1970, I'm old) teacher was friends with Chicago (originally Chicago Transit Authority). He mentioned they owned some mountain top somewhere, and I'm like, Who??? Other than being from Chicago, that's all I have. Stay You : )

The key to appreciating Leonid & Friends is to first go watch a video of the song they are covering as done by Chicago or Earth Wind & Fire. It doesn't really matter what the song is. Then watch the Leonid & Friends video. There isn't a single one that isn't as good or better than the original. BTW - It has been a year since this video and despite saying you'd like to hear more of them you haven't posted anything. That alone tells me what you really thought.

You've got to be kidding with a 7 rating. They deserve much more than that.

To NOT really appreciate what ‘Leonid & Friends’ IS, and what they HAVE and are reproducing, is to miss the entire point of music completely..seriously. These guys are AMAZINGLY talented...I’d say better than “Chicago” themselves. And to know these guys obviously speak more than 1 language, puts them (probably) in the top 5% of not just talented but smarter (as intelligent) demographic, IMO of course. The fact that they play their music AND RECORD IT LIVE IN THE STUDIO, is head & shoulders above ALL other artists today...

tbh in *'my'* opinion, the kids in the background, is part of the charm of your reaction videos. But the choice is Yours to change the set-up of course. As for this video...I liked it (if you ignore the talking..lol)...it was a spot on cover.
